4 star hotels in Essen

The personals were kind and friendly. Rooms er clean, Very satisfied with the breakfast buffet. I Will choose the same hotelif i Will visit Dusseldorf again.

Just your average affordable hotel with a pool. Too many guests , working class and students on tour when I checked in . Front desk staff not friendly or hospitable enough. Including staff in the restaurant /bar . Your "to go food " comes with the tray you need to carry on your own to your room , they say thats how they serve food for take out to your room and nobody to offer a hand even if you have...

Huge hotel, easy parking, location was ok, building and rooms getting old, but all was clean! Restaurant was very good! And breakfast had a very good selection - hot & cold.

Good, only far from the main city

The staff were absolutely fantastic, after an overbook by ******* the staff went above and beyond for us as a family with two children. Would highly recommend and have saved this as a hotel we will be staying at in the future

The room was clean and very quiet. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The quality of the food in the restaurant was also good.

Great hotel, large clean rooms and close to shops and resturants. Ideal if your visiting Essen University Hospital

Beautiful location, very functional for congress or other business meetings. The rooms are huge and clean. The breakfast has a wide range of options. Even for lunch and dinner there were vegan options, although the steak was delicious. Near the hotel there is an incredible park with wildlife and hiking areas.

The Atlantic Hotel in Essen is a clean and well-maintained property with a great breakfast selection and a stylish bar area. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, a major downside was the parking situation. Unfortunately, parking cannot be reserved in advance, and upon arrival, we were told the on-site car park was full. This meant we had to park about 20 minutes walk away...

Only 2 minutes walk to Messe Essen. We stayed for one night only, probably priciest hotel in the area. Everything looks nice and clean and staff if really helpfull. We had a room o the 2nd flor, almost direcly above the entrance to the hotel. Bad placement as below our window people stopd smoling and talking and sounded like they were in our room. We could also hear if some one was walking in the...

The location is excellent. The room is large and well-equipped. The only drawback is that the sound insulation is not very good. I was woken up by the sound of the door closing next door in the morning and the floor felt a little shaken.

Cleanliness and close proximity to the motorway network, Staff were very helpful

The location is great; you can easily walk into town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious.

Had a great stay here with my family, Staff were friendly, restaurant was lovely also.

Gave us the wrong room type (double instead of twin) and couldn't change it until next day, even though booked 6 months in advance. Cleaners woke us up 5 hours before checkout time on last day which was odd. Otherwise a fine hotel.

Overall, we were satisfied. Unfortunately, the bar was lacking in the evenings. Nevertheless, we would come back.

It was excellent experience . Beautiful garden view from room. Location is perfect for everything. I recommend 100%..breakfast is also awesome

Overall is a good hotel. As a platinum owner, no lounge but offers simple dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast is great. The hotel is located in a nice park near the theater and art center.

Perfect hotel close to Schalke 04 Arena. Good breakfast, nice (empty minibar) and good beds. Easy parking, lots of places for free. Recomended.

It was okay, but there seemed to be some renovation work going on at the hotel. Because of that, not all services were available. Also, breakfast wasn’t served at 7:30 – nobody was there yet. It was set up later, which made us almost late for an appointment.

It was fine - just expensive because there was a game on at the stadium. Plan to go when there is no game - the room cost doubles.

I booked a room at this hotel as a family member underwent surgery and was having rehab at the centre next door. I had to leave quickly and booked a room the day I left. My room was okay, but the price was 250 Euros. When queried, staff said that was because there was a soccer game at the stadium next door. Very expensive!

All in all very good, I can only recommend it! I'll be back!

Very good location for Schalke fans. Unfortunately, coffee was only available for breakfast upon request, vending machines were out of order and staff were overwhelmed. The bathroom only has a bathtub with a high entry for showering.

so good hotel， have free water， and the room is clean， no noise！

The hotel is very centrally located, just a few meters from the pedestrian zone. Unfortunately, because of this, people from the drug scene also hang around in the area, but that's sadly the case in every major city. At the hotel itself, however, there are absolutely no problems. Everything is clean and the staff is very friendly.

My 2nd time staying at NH Essen, whilst on a business trip, and was pleasantly impressed. The front desk guy was more than helpful given my arrival circumstances and even changed my room, as requested, and explained to me all of the differences between my initial booking and what options I would have. They have a bar in the lobby however it opens in the afternoon. The breakfast and dinning area are...

This is the most satisfactory stay for me in Germany…. Staying in Munich and Hannover so far this is the Best hotel for near amenities of restaurant and street Christmas market.

I stayed there during Essen spiel. The mini-fridge in the rooms do not cool anything at all and might as well not have existed. Since I have diabetes and need to keep my medicine cold, it was an issue. Luckily, the staff accomodated my needs by keeping my medicine in the fridge at the lobby bar. But I wonder if they could have handled 10 diabetics at once. All the being said, the service was very...

Good location and comfy rooms. Free parking available in a walking distance on weekends.

Clean rooms, good breakfast with a great selection! Only the location on a very busy street and poorly insulated windows aren't so great.

Room is too loud and the hotel was not able to change the room for me.

Average hotel. Room lighting is a bit dim. Reception is helpful. Basement carpark is an advantage.

Great hotel, convenient parking and charging.

We stayed 2x nights with our football team in this hotel. Ok not new, but we knew that. Good service, good breakfast, nice rooms. Price/ quality I'm ok with this hotel.

This hotel used to be good .. but now rooms looking tired and old .. not told there wouldn’t be a bath only a shower. Front of house Bar etc all ok  rooms very dirty & no net curtains so have to shut main curtains when out of shower .. staff great helpful & friendly.. its obviously owners not investing the money for an overdue revamp.. breakfast always good .. but bar / restaurant shut some nights...

Holiday Inn Express Essen *** This is a budget city hotel with basic amenities. The property shows its age, which is noticeable in certain details. The rooms are clean and spacious but unfortunately lack air conditioning, which can be uncomfortable during warmer periods. Noise from the street is quite significant even with the windows closed, which might disturb your sleep and affect the overall...

Clean. Big room but soundproofing is not very good! Close to the city center

The hotel staff works hard around the clock to keep things clean. The breakfast buffet was always fully stocked and really clean. I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it.

Friendly staff, a lot of soace in the room and an amazing breakfast! Fresh waffles and pancakes, good coffee, fresh tropical fruits. The price for the room with breakfast is unbeatable

Very clean and good hotel. Very nice attentive staff. Great breakfast. I also enjoyed the gym- it was in a nice little building in the back of the hotel.

We had a great overnight stay here on our way back to England. Room was perfect, staff great. Nice little bar with a fair selection on drinks. Breakfast was great. The hotel has an amazing restaurant area and outside space, it is a shame that they don't utilise this space for an evening food service, such a waste.

Exelent value for money. Modern, spacious and functional room at a great price. They have also good parking in the basement (paid). Staff is also very professional and helpful. Surely would recommend and return on my next visit to Essen

Very friendly and welcoming staff. They are flexible and willing to support for any means of problem as a guest you might encounter with.

Nice place with a great location. Will stay here again on my next visit.

Hotel is conveniently situated 300meter away from Philharmonie U Bahn station and 1.5km to Essen HBF. Nice n neat hotel, I wished the water pressure in the shower area can be stronger though.

It was clean, renovated, and dog-friendly. The location wasn't ideal for dogs, but that's typical for centrally located places. Very flexible and a very, very nice room. I'd gladly stay again.

Room was fine. Most english channels not working and couldnt connect to Netflix or Prime and couldn't cast to Tv.

We booked a last minute room to attend Spiel Messe. We came with our small child. I called and requested a crib in the room. We arrived early on the day of check in. We planned to leave our luggage, but they room was ready! We got in and the crib was already there. And the room was big. Perfect for our small family. The breakfast was excellent. They provided a high chair for my our child. Lots of variety...

It provided everything I needed for a successful trip. Wonderful accomodations.

Hotel was fine. Very conveniemt just across from main Essen station. Bit dated and the area surrounding it isn't great but staff very friendly and helpful. Main shopping area is just a few yards away

ideal central location. friendly staff. Good size room good value when booked direct

Great location, just by Essen central station and the Christmas markets a short walk. And it has a small 24 hour gym. But I had noisy neighbours upstairs that persisted throughout, and the breakfast is very basic.

Everything was great as always! We'd love to come back when we're in Essen.

- good location - friendly service - limited parking space - rooms are spacious with kitchen - could use little more detailed cleaning - breakfast is ok, but no need for 8 different sausages/bacon, rather would preference more cheese but that’s personal of course

Super quite rooms and with curtains shut the difference between day and night is unnoticed. A little disappointment on the cleanliness. Some personal juices from previous guest were missed by the cleaning staff. Told this at the checkout but no response.

Spacious rooms and good bed. Great location near to the bahnhof. But such a brand name doesn't serve vegan breakfast. I just had cold salad for two days. Very disappointed from the service.

The staff were incredibly accommodating. I had a free early check in and a late check out (as the hotel wasn't too busy for this option). The hotel room was honestly impeccable. Brilliant amenities and space without compromising on quality. Bed was a 10/10 and the option to cook in the room was an instant winner for late night snacks after work. There are available snacks downstairs throughout the...

I was traveling on business and the hotel had all I needed: appropriate place to work in the room, several parking options, very close to Essen Messe. Besides that, the single room I stayed in was clean, quiet, with comfortable bed and great shower. The staff was really sweet, friendly and competent. I will definitely stay there again when I need to return to Essen.

So convenient to the Messe, and the train, and everyone was super friendly. It's also like staying in a mini apartment, and having a laundry was a great convenience!

One night in a apart hotel room with 3. The foldout sofa was comfy, room spacious enough for 3 to be at ease. Well kitted out, clean and quiet. We arrived early and were offered accès to the room for an additional 10 euro. I don't mind if a room is not ready when I arrive early but having to pay extra when it's already ready feels a little petty. Little parking in the street but parking lot across...

great neighbourhood comfortable place

Plesant suprise. We booked the hotel appartment as it was only a 2 minute walk to the Messe Essen. When pruce for taxinor train is calculated into the total cost of being further away from the Messe the appartment really becomes a very good option. Appartment was spacious. We got an appartment on the 5th floor with a privat balcony. Very clean and neat and you can bearly hear any traffic nor other...

Absolute Gem! Mintrop's Concierge exceeded all expectations. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment I stepped in, I felt right at home. This contemporary apartment hotel is impeccably clean and meticulously maintained. My XS apartment was perfectly equipped with a kitchenette featuring a dishwasher, 2-burner electric stove, microwave, fridge, and all the essentials for cooking and snacking. But what truly sets Mintrop...

Very friendly and quick personal. Such a nice breakfast and pool and so kids friendly, I never saw a 4 star hotel that was so kids friendly. The food was so delicious and every time we where in the restaurant we got a present from the kitchen. Especially there BBQ Friday was so nice. You can choose from different cuts and you can eat as much as you want. The rooms are very nice and clean and you have...

Lovely and guest oriented hotel in green area This hotel lies in the greener outskirt of Essen, ideal for cycling trips or to visit tne Ruhrgebiet without the rush of a city centre. We had a very comfortable stay. There is a lot of eye for detail in this hotel. For example: we had two racebikes with us which we could park securely in a special and fully equipped bikegarage. The breakfast was well organised...

Lovely spacious room, very friendly staff

Guests rave about the friendly and attentive staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay.

Great Hotel, great restaurant. The waiter really makes every evening special, an excellent host. Nice rooms, dog friendly, great for children. A lot of room to play around or to play in the pool..The staff goes beyond what you may expect to give you a great time. We will be back for a third time real soon:)

Very clean rooms. But unfortunately the climate in the hotel room was very poor. It was hot and humid. Also, in my opinion the pillows were too large and too small. Furthermore, the hotel itself and its facilities were outdated. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel.

It’s 2:56 and the only place that’s open within the square kilometer from here. Very kind and professional staff. I love it and would come here anytime :)

this must be the best neighbourhood to live in around Essen - beautiful, serene environment. the hotel is very old but very well maintained. service is excellent and very consistent. the restaurant is very good too, although a bit pricey. Edeka is right outside, with a bakery and ice cream shop just round the corner. parking is a breeze. the only downside is the very weak aircon, but a fan was provided...

Love the hotel and very quiet neighbourhood.

Lovely & Authentic German Experience Quaint & lovely with an authentic German clement combined with modern touches - in a lovely garden district suburb of Dusseldorf in Essen - built in the early 1900’s. Great for walking

Room is OK but the curtains need to be fixed.

Great location and friendly stafff.

I liked the room decoration, fueniture and amenities. That it is not noisy and it is very clean. Also liked the restaurant. Didn’t love that we had to book in advance for a table at the restaurant and we didn’t know this.

I had an outstanding stay at this hotel! The room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, with a great desing making my stay very pleasant. The mattress was particularly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel’s bar was a nice touch, offering a relaxing spot to unwind after a long day...

Very clean, modern and very supportive staff. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is really clean. I was treated to room service everyday. The spa was beautiful well kept and lots of relaxing seating. They had tea on the go whenever you want. The hotel location suited me because i was visiting my family, but the area is very isolated not much going on. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. I did not have breakfast because i thought it should've been included!

Phenomenal experience at this location. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful for visitors from the States. On site restaurant with food fit for a king. Spacious, comfortable, and very clean rooms. Breakfast buffet to start the day off right.

We stayed at Heiner's as a family for 5 days. There is very little to fault. The Hotel is very clean and spacious and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great to access the local areas by foot, bike or car. We stayed in the Junior Suite and it was extremely comfortable. We had a really lovely stay. My only suggestions to improve the experience are small. The...
