Beautiful location, very functional for congress or other business meetings. The rooms are huge and clean. The breakfast has a wide range of options. Even for lunch and dinner there were vegan options, although the steak was delicious. Near the hotel there is an incredible park with wildlife and hiking areas.

The location is excellent. The room is large and well-equipped. The only drawback is that the sound insulation is not very good. I was woken up by the sound of the door closing next door in the morning and the floor felt a little shaken.

Gave us the wrong room type (double instead of twin) and couldn't change it until next day, even though booked 6 months in advance. Cleaners woke us up 5 hours before checkout time on last day which was odd. Otherwise a fine hotel.

The hotel is very centrally located, just a few meters from the pedestrian zone. Unfortunately, because of this, people from the drug scene also hang around in the area, but that's sadly the case in every major city. At the hotel itself, however, there are absolutely no problems. I stayed there during Essen spiel. The mini-fridge in the rooms do not cool anything at all and might as well not have existed. Since I have diabetes and need to keep my medicine cold, it was an issue. Luckily, the staff accomodated my needs by keeping my medicine in the fridge at the lobby bar. It's only 2 stars, but here's the big wow, you get a nice room too stay in for a price that is comfortable. Close to the center and not far from next bus or tram. The hotel is a school and you stay in the dorm, it is nice and quiet so do not worry about that.

Extraordinary buildings renovated in a lovely way to fulfill the five star feeling of the hotel (this really old stone and brick castle). Fireplaces with live fires going in the evenings are cosy. Very clean rooms. But unfortunately the climate in the hotel room was very poor. It was hot and humid. Also, in my opinion the pillows were too large and too small. Furthermore, the hotel itself and its facilities were outdated. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel.

The rooms (at least the suites) are big and have all necessary amenities like a kettle, fridge, tresor, tv and balcony. The location is ideal if you are traveling by public transportation and have business on the Gruga Location/ Messe Essen. The only negative is, that there are some but not a lot of parking spaces that belong to the hotel.

The hotel is a short metro ride away from essen. Unfortunately this stops at 23.00hrs so its a taxi or walk 45 minutes to get back. The area has good facilities with several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and room we had was ideal for our needs. Clean and tidy with a small kitchen area and a balcony. Excellent value for money.
