Reviews
Not so kids-friendly as children are not allowed to attend sauna area - something what families look forward to do after skiing.
I was glad that some guests just ignored this restriction as it’s really not time conform and is hard to find such ruling in nearby alpine hotels unless clearly stated “adults only”. Besides, the water in the swimming pool was cold and so were the showers - not something kids can handle for long.
You do not get what you expect for 400€ a night (family). Our room was ranked as suite resembled rather a retro apartment furnished in 80s or Artdeco style, clean but really outdated, toilet ring broken.
Parking - 10.5€ a day on an opened parking with no E-charging station.
We are thankful we visited the region, but will avoid this hotel in future. We encounter proper gastfreundlichkeit every time we went over the mountains in Austria and have not met this here.
We made a mistake with the dates when booking our room. When we arrived at the hotel, they literally said, "No problem, I'll change it," without mentioning any additional cost.
When we checked out, they handed us a bill with a much higher amount: they charged us for the most expensive room in the hotel (according to Booking prices) and even tried to charge us for parking, despite the fact that we never arrived by car. The receipt was given only in German, clearly so that an English-speaking tourist wouldn’t understand what they were being charged and would simply accept the bill… please check.
When we complained, Monika Fiedler and Julia at reception were extremely rude. They told us the error was the hotel's fault (claiming that the employee who checked us in was “still learning”), but still insisted that we had to pay an additional 300 euros, or there would be no solution to the misunderstanding.
Also, one morning at 7:30 AM, someone tried to open our door with a key while we were still sleeping. We went to ask at reception what had happened, and the guy there explained that it was supposed to be “room service” (pretty early, right?). He apologized and said they shouldn’t have tried to open the door without knocking first.
We were treated dishonestly. The lack of transparency and poor customer service were unacceptable. I do not recommend this hotel at all… hope the management addresses this issue so other guests don’t go through the same thing!!
There is a great little bar just off of the restaurant for relaxing after a day of exploring the area which we did, and the pool area was very relaxing.
The train is just a short walk from the hotel where you can go to the Eibsee or Garmisch which makes getting around very easy, and there is a bus stop by the hotel.
My favorite part was being able to let the fresh mountain air in at night and listen to the stream flowing adjactent the hotel. That provided me the perfect nights sleep.
