Sovereign Beach Hotel in Kardamaina

Pros Great location with beach short walk , great little walk along beach to lovely little town Kardamena . Great bars restaurants gift shops . Bar taverna food hot and freshly cooked . Pool bar great drinks , good animation team. Pool was nice and clean . Cons Restaurant food had a good choice , but food was never hot was only ever Luke warm . Most staff were polite there was two reception staff who were extremely rude . The smell of sewage is very bad all round hotel and as walk back from the town you can smell the hotel !!! Very off putting We had raw sewage in our room could of been dealt with much better eventually sent an apology fruit plate from breakfast and a bottle of wine when your staying in a all inclusive these were both available from restaurant so hardly and apology . Only staff member that apologised was the cleaner . Would definitely not return to this hotel due to our experience.

Booked this hotel for our first family holiday with our 1 year old due to the good reviews and easy access to Kardamena. We did have a lovely time but I will now list the positives and negatives of this hotel. Negatives. Swimming pool - freezing cold & was barely used by guests, me and my Mum got in properly once but my infant really cried and was shivering so had to just let him sit on top of his inflatable and float, such a shame as swimming is a big part of the holiday and this is the coldest pool I’ve been in while abroad! Entertainment - Karaoke night didn’t go ahead as it wouldn’t work, obviously nobody’s fault but disappointing all the same. Most nights was music just being played, we felt this was just a lazy disco, not really entertainment. We only had Greek dancing and the fire show as entertainment for our week’s stay. Fire show was great though. No iced coffee - this should be introduced due to being a popular beverage, not everyone wants a standard hot coffee on a sunny day. Beach - Not very impressive, very small, rocky and mucky looking, we used Kardamena beach. Maid service- didn’t always replenish coffee, milk and sugar in room. Hotel tax - 110 euro which is a rip off considering the hotel isn’t a 5 star. Sewerage smell in room - can’t really be helped but our room didn’t smell pleasant, this can be an unfortunate issue in Greece. Bathroom shower - would often flood the bathroom as too powerful and would spurt way past the shower door resulting in having to waste towels to mop up the floor. Bar staff - remained disinterested and would often give plastic cups in the evening, we had to say we wanted glass but in saying that they do work long hours so not sure I could be that enthusiastic every minute of the day! Positives. Food - Plenty of choice for the duration of our stay, fresh omelettes & pancakes at breakfast. Meats, fresh pizza, chips, pasta & soup for lunch & dinner well up until the last few days when pizza stopped being served and most of the nice fruit disappeared too, which can be an issue for children who just want something basic. Oriental night was the worst, nothing to offer my infant atall, I think he just had a banana and ice cream ! Desserts were also delicious and varied compared to previous hotels I’ve been to, white chocolate cake, gateaux and the raisin chocolate nut bars were my favourite! Our balcony view - Overlooking the pool and sea with a beautiful sunrise! Always nice to get a decent view. Staff- Ruchell at breakfast and lunch always engaged with my infant and made him smile, very friendly lady and the young lady with red hair (I should of taken her name) always made sure we had a bottle of milk for my baby’s evening bottle, very helpful and we appreciated it. Reception - the manager I believe, English lady was also friendly and helpful, we were able to spend our last day in the warm indoor pool thanks to her assistance. The young man was also happy to help aswell. Anima
