Perissa Bay in Perissa

As someone who’s worked in the service industry, I don’t take complaints lightly. I’ve never left a negative review before. But our stay at Perissa Bay Hotel was so frustrating, mishandled, and dismissive that I feel compelled to warn other travelers. We were given a basement room with no WiFi, smelled of sewage, and which flooded within hours of check-in—damaging our clothes and luggage. While Stella at the front desk initially apologized and promised a room upgrade and a discount, we had to follow up ourselves to make anything happen. When I stopped by the desk at 9am the next morning, no one was there. Stella later claimed we could’ve had the upgrade if we’d just asked, but we did—she simply wasn’t around, nor did she reach out to us while we were offsite. Most frustratingly, when I asked for what I actually needed—help laundering the clothes that got soaked in the flood—I was told to walk 15 minutes to a laundromat and pay out of pocket, on our last day of vacation. I was stunned. What should’ve been a basic courtesy offered at the outset turned into a tense and defensive exchange. Only after escalating to management did they agree to help, and even then, they walked back the discount and upgrade they’d previously offered. I guess covering the 4 euro it costs to clean the clothes damaged in their flooded room (a gesture we had to practically beg for) counted as our compensation—gives you a pretty good sense of their nickel-and-diming practices. At every step, we had to push for support—and even the simplest requests were treated like unreasonable demands. The WiFi didn’t work in either of the rooms we stayed in, and there was zero proactive communication or service. They said they cared about guest experience, but their actions made it clear they cared far more about protecting their bottom line at all costs. We loved our time in Santorini, but this hotel drained our energy and added unnecessary stress to what should have been a relaxing trip. For guests who are drawn to the beachfront access, as we were, I’d recommend Villa Limnes next door, where my mom stayed and had a completely different—and far better—experience of hospitality. I hope Perissa Bay improves, but until then, I’d avoid it altogether.

Me and my girlfriend visited Perissa Bay after viewing it the night before to which we had a great experience where the young man was very welcoming and friendly. However the next day we decided to attend again to use their pool and this is where the problems began. Upon entry a man greeted us explaining it was happy hour and drinks were discounted encouraging us to buy drinks. We proceeded to find a sun bed where we waited over half an hour for the table service they offered. I then decided to go in to order at the bar to which I was greeted by a rude man and woman at the till area who proceeded to not acknowledge my request until I asked multiple times. We then received our drinks which was a warm, half filled draught beer and a canned cocktail. After this we decided to leave and pay, however upon paying the same woman continued to be rude to us making us feel very unwelcome. Then when receiving the bill we came to the realisation that it was not at all happy hour and we where charged full price for the drinks which we where told where discounted and cost us double the price. We Would not recommend or return again. As English tourists we are always very much welcomed in most places however this rudeness was something else and I hope it’s solved for future customers.
