Hotel Garni Savoy in Kastelruth

TERRIBLE - There was an overwhelming dog urine smell in the hallway that whafted down the stairs and into the lobby, just off the breakfast area. We spoke to the owner Alex about checking out 2 days early, as we had prepaid for 3 nights. Although Alex assured us twice that it was not a problem to check out early, it was a problem for his wife Anita and she refused to refund us for the 2 nights. By then we had booked a lovely hotel nearby for the last 2 nights. Be aware, the smell at Hotel Garni Savoy is disgusting.

Beware of this Hotel. Booked this hotel about 5 weeks before due date. When we arrived our first impression was a scruffy hotel with a strong smell of dog. When I said that we have a reservation, the man,who I beleive was the owner gave me a funny look saying they didn’t expect any arrivals on the day. Then a sweaty women dressed in dirty clothes, I believe she was his wife, came over and told us that the hotel was full and didn’t have any rooms. At first she said it was a misunderstanding then she said because it was only for one night. They should have never accepted the reservation. To be fair they contacted another hotel for a reservation. And Thank God they did, Hotel Alpenroyal, was great, clean and very friendly staff. They also gave us free passes to go on the mountain and some important tips.
Although we enjoyed Hotel Alpenroyal, this doesn’t cancel the anger we felt at Hotel Garni Sayoy. We shouldn’t have been treated this way. We get to book the hotels we want. I am also angry at booking.com because the system does not let you review a hotel that has cancelled your reservation in the last second on arrival.

The owner was very rude, the rooms not shown as in pictures , very far from ski attractions and definitely there is no views with mountains, i would rather say at the back is bad smell because of animals so you could not even enjoy a coffee, the dog at the desk is very nice but always is going to wake you up when someone is entering in the hotel, also on the site is shown a large spa but is not is a tiny swimming pool, and sauna not working if in the hotel is les the 5 people, usually in hotel is 2-3 persons, also i got infected with Cryptosporidium bacteria from their pool, definitely not recommend
