Hotel Hopps in Mazara del Vallo

Honest review if your thinking abt going! I am a Dutch 18 year old who loves to travel a lot.

The rooms are big and nice!! Clean! Good bathroom and a lot of space! Alltho the walls are thin and you hear everyone next door and always hear the animation team outside till like 23:30/00:00. The food is Allright most days, but it’s so little definitely compared to all inclusive hotels I’ve been to, the pizza is good! But most pastas are undercooked and there’s little option to choice from at the buffet, there was supposed to be a private beach but it’s closed due to to less of people. Snack time 16:00-17:00 is like one small table with one plate of small pizza sliced to share for everyone and a bit of ships and nuts. The nearest good beach is a 50 min walk or a 15 min bike ride. It was supposed to be clear water but it’s full of wood and it’s greenish. The Drinks are sodas, beer and wine. Cocktails or stronger drinks you gotta pay for with a kiwi card where u put money on. The location, It’s close to the centrum wich Is actually nice, close to an ice cream store (much gusto) AMAZING ICE CREAM!! And to a sushi restaurant wich is good to! Lunch is affordable a lot of options to choose from, be ware you do need a reservation!!! Pool also rlly nice! It’s big clear/clean don’t need to pay for beds, there are enough of them to! Service/workers 10/10 polite. Helpful and overall good! Our guide through Corendon (Theo) 10/10 also a nice man, seems to rlly like his job, definitely made the stay better. I defenitly think we overpayed for this vacation, wouldn’t go again to this location or hotel again!

Okay if you like large crowds with lots of noisy kids and music till 12 midnight every night. They have the microphone going all night with some lady saying “alora” for fifty thousand times like it’s the only word she knows. Also make sure you check their cancellation policy before you book otherwise they will charge you for whatever length of stay you booked for regardless of how many days you stay. In other words you cannot leave if you change your mind about the place and want to go somewhere else where it is less noisy with less people and kiddies. Sort of like that song Hotel California where you can check out any time you like but you can never leave…not with your money back at least. Luckily for us the bank took care of it and refunded our money. The swimming pool and bar seems to be the main attraction even though the beach is across the street. I wonder if anyone even ventures out of the place to see and experience the actual city of Mazara. All in all not the place to go if you like a little peace and quiet. B&B’s are plentiful in Mazara for that.

Our Experience at Hotel Hopps – A Mixed Bag with Highs and Lows

We spent a few days at Hotel Hopps in Mazara del Vallo and would like to share our experience – maybe it will help others make their decision.

What we liked:

One highlight was the pizzeria – it’s located a bit off to the side, outside, and has a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. The dinner buffet was partially good as well, although unfortunately heavily focused on pork – a more varied selection (e.g., chicken or vegetarian options) would have been appreciated.

The location of the hotel is decent – fairly central, so it’s easy to get to the center of Mazara del Vallo.
Our room was spacious, which is definitely a plus, and the large balcony was great for sitting outside in the evenings.

What didn’t convince us:

Let’s start with the service: Many of the staff were unfriendly, and hardly anyone spoke English, which made communication very difficult. That’s unfortunate, especially for international guests.

Cleanliness was also an issue. The room cleaning felt superficial, and several areas of the hotel weren’t really clean.

What bothered us most was the loud entertainment that lasted until around midnight – it was hard to relax. On top of that, there were far too few sun loungers by the pool – unless you got up very early, you had almost no chance of getting one.

Breakfast was disappointing: Very little variety, the same food every day, and again almost exclusively pork – no turkey or chicken. The dining hall was also extremely loud and uninviting. It was a bit nicer if you managed to get a seat outside on the terrace.

Our absolute low point: There was a huge cockroach in the hallway in front of our room. We reported it immediately to the front desk – someone came, but instead of properly addressing the issue, they simply lifted a ceiling tile and pushed it up. That felt very unprofessional and left us feeling uneasy.

Conclusion:

The hotel does have potential – especially because of the pizzeria, the spacious rooms, and the location. But unfortunately, the negative points outweighed the positives for us, especially regarding cleanliness, service, and food quality. If you have low expectations and are fine with basic standards, you might still enjoy a few relaxed days here – but we personally would not return.

Beds hard. Shower very cramped. Management staff unhelpful. Entertainment and bar staff excellent very friendly. Cleaning staff also excellent rooms spotlessly clean. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend this as a four star hotel. Pool staff excellent pool very good and clean. Oh yes food only warm

Please not my fail ! The even worst all inclusive hotel where I were! Any food choice, for everything you must to.pay extra also for WiFi. In alkohol also any choice. Rooms are not rally clean, the balcony really small , and also not every neccessery stuff!
