What an experience at a hotel that exceeded expectations. We wanted to get a luxury experience without the tourists and this was the place. There are two ladies at the front desk who were extremely helpful. I believe one of them was named Claudia and the other I forget but she had two kids who are twins. Both of them made sure our experience was fantastic. They helped us with the shuttles, they told us when to go and where to go. The views from this hotel were beautiful. The rooms were clean and well kept. The restaurant upstairs was great with good service and food. Then to top it off we had great an experience with the lady at the snack bar by the beach. She took care of everything. Honestly I would go back here because it was amazing. The beach was even a sand beach! Highly recommend and thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome!

We booked this Hotel Giosue a Mare in Meta because we wanted a small hotel, near a beach but not in the main tourist part of Sorrento.
We got a lovely hotel right on a private beach. It's staff are delightful, friendly, consistently helpful and all of them put up with my appalling attempts to speak Italian!
We didn't eat our main meal there every night but we could have. I had the best tuna I have ever had there, one evening in the rooftop restaurant. We certainly ate snacks there quite often and sometimes the snacks meant we didn't need a main meal.
We had chosen one of the cheaper rooms and it was not large, although bigger than a premier inn room, while the bathroom was quite big, and both were extremely clean. It was very quiet.
The hotel is at the bottom of the cliff at Meta.You can walk up if you're feeling energetic, but there is a bus or a lift. However, the hotel will organise free car rides to Meta train station and in the evenings free trips to Sorrento centre as well as the return.
We took rail trips out for the first few days; a guided one to Pompei and unguided one to Herculaneum as well as Sorrento and then, exhausted, spent the last days of our holiday swimming or lying on the beach. It's a very good place if you want that sort of a visit. You don't need a car, the railway and buses are cheap and functionally excellent if colourful.
We had a great holiday and cannot recommend the hotel enough but next time we go we will get a bigger room.

My view of the Amalfi Coast was of a staff service yard, often occupied by cleaning staff who could see into my room (see photo).

There was nothing in the way of amenities near the hotel and the hotel hasn’t done enough to take that into account. The hotel is fine but not having Drinking water available is a huge flaw too - other than 2 small bottles in your room on arrival, there is none. When I tried to buy some, the shop down in the beach was closed. Luckily it was early April and not too hot but there should be a water fountain on every floor or a decent, fair-priced shop. I ended up buying a glass, one-litre bottle from the roof bar for €2.50.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is great and the setting of the breakfast room/ restaurant is great. Parking is adventurous but no problem since the staff pays great attention. Rooms are clean with great views to he sea- only the bathroom was very small. The shower cabin was only working for me when I stood sideways in it. But the location and the friendliness made up for that…

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Giosuè a Mare. It’s a truly charming, family-run Italian hotel with a warm and authentic atmosphere. The view over the sea is absolutely stunning, every moment feels like a painting!
The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, always making us feel at home. It’s a place filled with genuine hospitality, kindness, and Mediterranean beauty.
We can’t wait to come back!

Best thing about this property is that a local restaurant, Tico Tico, is within a short walking distance. My family and I did not feel very welcome here at this property. It is more for locals. The first day at the beach was horrible because the beach and the water were filthy. Granted that is beyond the hotel’s control, nevertheless our daughter even commented on the trash. If you want to have either a first line lounger and umbrella you have to pay 30 euro per person. 20 euro if you want second line on the beach. However, we noticed non-hotel individuals entering the ‘private beach’. The rooftop turns into a club on Wednesdays and Saturdays with very loud music. Also, the walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors. Our superior triple room was ‘tight’. Our queen bed was actually two twins put together. The food at the hotel was mediocre at best. When we arrived the two ladies at the front desk ignored us for about a good 10 minutes- one was on the phone and the other just sat there looking bored. It is hard to get to and you have to learn how to use the bus system, which luckily is easy to navigate and the best cost option. Taxis are ridiculously expensive. And most request cash payments. If you don’t have cash the drivers will gladly take you to an ATM. Sorrento was lovely and I wished we had stayed there instead.

Perfect option to start your vacation!
Great hotel, with wonderful beach access, as well as a great roof top terrace.

We loved the closeness to the water without losing the access to the village.

Amazing hotel, great spot away from the bustle up on the hill. Very picturesque with amazing ocean views. Great onsite dining and views from cocktail bar at sunset are awesome. Room was clean and comfortable.

It was a nice hotel but staff weee rude and unhelpful apart from Anna on reception who was great at organising us a taxi.

The rooms are nice however the air conditioning didn’t work properly and there was zero sound proofing. We could hear the man next door snoring through the wall.
