Hotel Antares in Capoliveri

We had a wonderful holiday here with my family. The hotel has an ideal location with its beach, swimming pool, parking, restaurant and everything you need. I appreciate the reserved place on the beach, it should be like this everywhere. The rooms were smaller but quite tastefully furnished. The food for dinner in the local restaurant was really excellent. I have to praise the local chefs and waiters a lot. Everything is very professional. The pool with a whirlpool is a nice bonus and an alternative to the beach if you have children and the waves are bigger. There is also a nice playground with nice animators. We really recommend everything. The only thing I would mention for improvement would be more comfortable beds and more variability in the breakfast. But that is offset by the delicious coffee 😊

No-one can truly say that any single hotel is the 'best in the world'; that's too subjective and can always be countered. But you can say, with absolute certainty, that somewhere is your favourite. If we're lucky we get to find 'the' place where our heart is at rest. The welcome, the people, the ambience, the location, the cuisine, the combination of those indescribable small things that all add up to making somewhere perfect and the Antares is mine.

Hotel Antares is a jewel. We have rarely come across a place that exudes such a pleasant and relaxing energy. Everything is organized wonderfully well and the people who work there seem genuinely happy and kind. The level of cleanliness is unsurpassed. The location is perfect, hidden among lush vegetation, but directly on the beach (having the sunbed and umbrella included in the price of the room is absolutely not to be underestimated on the island of Elba). At lunch there is a buffet of €20 per person with excellent quality dishes and for dinner (for those who didn't have half board like us) an à la carte menu of €35, definitely very affordable and served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. We were also pleasantly impressed by the attitude of the other guests, always very quiet and respectful of others. The musical evening was a real treat! But what we liked most were the people and we really want to thank everyone for their warmth, hospitality and kindness, absolutely everyone, without exception. The only suggestion we would have is to invest more in breakfast, which is still very satisfying (delicious eggs!). It would be nice to favor quality local products when choosing cheeses, cured meats, honey, butter and jams and add some vegetables and dried fruit.

Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time after arriving at the specified time. Room was only ready more than two hours later than announced.
We also got a different room than booked.
It was in a private house 300m away on the lower first floor of the rear annexe. An apartment with the flair of a converted garage. A bit musty, lots of mosquitoes and vermin. The furniture was very basic and in places very worn, hardly any equipment, no bottle opener, no hairdryer.
But the beds and mattresses were good. Bathroom and shower too, but hardly any water pressure.
Keys were not available for all the patio doors and shutters, which made locking complicated and meant it was usually dark in the apartment.

At dinner on the beautiful terrace, very hard-working and extremely friendly waiters, but despite this, the wrong thing was served several times or the order was completely forgotten.
Food in general and the evening menu were ok and average in taste.

No clear and transparent billing of food and drinks in the bar and restaurant. Everything is charged to the room without comment. At the end you receive a completely confusing final bill in which individual days and individual transactions are no longer visible.

My family (4 people) was on the Island of Elba for the first time and we stayed for a week at the Hotel Antares. It turned out to be a very good choice as it did not surprise us from all points of view. The extreme kindness and professionalism of the staff especially that of the restaurant. Great entertainment for kids. Super clean structure and it is reductive to consider it only a three stars. We used the beach, literally 15 steps from the hotel and also the tennis court in a fabulous location. It will certainly be our choice again if the destination is still the Island of Elba.

Staying at the Antares again this year - 4th year running.

However you choose to say it - nirvana, valhalla, shangri-la, xanadu, paradise, heaven on earth...the Antares is all those things and more. In 50 years of travel...my favourite destination bar none; simply the best place to rest, relax and recharge on the planet. Great (family) hosts, friendly staff, a great restaurant, cracking wine choice, a beach to die for and roms that deliver everything you need for the perfect break. Nothing flash, nothing ostenatious, just simple chic and class - the drive back to Piombino for the ferry is one of the low-lights of my year. The personal dilemma is how much to publicise your 'hidden gem'; but as my mother always taught me it was better to share - here is a the venue the Antares fully deserves. Love it, love it, love it and God willing we will be going back for years to come.

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Everything is within reach, with a beautiful sea. The rooms are not recently furnished, but clean and functional. Restaurant with excellent, polite and friendly service. Very good lunch buffet, decent dinner.

The position was perfect. The beach of Lido Capoliveri is one of the best in Elba. The beach service was good. Also the food was good. One can eat from buffet or can order from menu a la carte.
