B&B Neapolis Bellini in Naples

Dirty room and unpleasant attitude from management.

The room itself was spacious, clean, with a lovely high ceiling. But that's where it ends.

We booked for 2 nights, our final days in Italy after visiting Sorrento and Positano. I specifically made sure there was air conditioning because we don't deal well in heat.

Unfortunately, the air conditioning system was broken and the room was 29-30 degrees hot in the day and throughout the night. We tried to open the window but the room is located directly above Piazza Bellini, a popular spot where locals stay up until 4am, drink in the street, play loud music, shout and smash glass.

Then at 5 am, the streets get cleaned so you hear the sound of bins, scraping, glass being sweeped away.

It is safe to say I didn't get to sleep until 5:30am. Our whole day was ruined. We planned to explore, see Pompeii and spend our final full day getting to know Naples. This did not happen with only 2 hour sleep.

At one point throughout the night, I was googling the aircon manual to see how to fix it.

I messaged the lady who checked us in the next day and didn't get a response for over an hour and a half, when my husband started ringing. May I add that there was no-one on hand in the property who could help us. If I wanted an empty apartment, I would have booked a cheaper air bnb.

I asked if someone could fix the air con or if we could stay in another room (there was availability on booking.com) to which I was told that they were full. We were made to feel like an inconvenience and told that someone will have a look at the air con but it is likely we will be given a fan. We waited in the sweltering room for another hour and nothing happened.

We decided to book in to another hotel and left. We paid €75 for the night and managed to get a 4 star hotel with working air conditioning, breakfast included and a rooftop bar. The best money ever spent.

Here, we paid €136 for both nights and yet I felt like I was staying at an uncle's friend's flat who doesn't live there and is slightly inconvenienced by our stay.

The bed and breakfast label is also incorrect and there was no breakfast offered.

Avoid. It is unfortunate that we couldn't leave a review on booking.com because they took cash in hand and cancelled our booking to avoid paying commission.
