A minus though is that the maintenance of the animals is poorly. The horse and donkeys need their hooves shaping as they are now crippled and walk funny. Also the animals are all very confined. They could definitely do this better. But overall we had a great time !
Pigs kept in a tiny concrete cell, 4 cows also in a tiny yard, with open sores on their side from laying in their own faeces. Goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits all overcrowded in tiny cages.
No animals had access to clean drinking water. The rest of the grounds looked nice enough, we visited toward the end of winter so most of the amenities were closed. If the owner reads this, please consider rehoming the animals and focusing more on the "resort" offering. The animals deserve better and you could then focus attentions and finances on the hotel instead.
Do not visit if you're an animal lover. I spent our 2 night stay crying myself to sleep after seeing the conditions.
The worst part about this place is the state in which the animals are kept in.
10+ cats all in various health conditions. Broken tails, sick and none have been fixed.
10+ goats all of whom are kept, locked and gated up in a 3x3 metre enclosure.
2 donkeys and a horse all kept together, gated up in a 8x3 metre enclosure. The horse barely able to move due to its hooves not being maintained.
2 fully grown pigs kept in a tiny 3x3 metre enclosure, who after 2 days were no longer at the site.
And then 4 cows kept in a 10x6 metre enclosure. All with matted fur and 1 with open wounds, likely from not being able to do anything but lay down all day.
The treatment of these animals is appalling and from a place that advertises its animals.
Genuinely almost ruined our trip.
I hope someone else also decides to contact the relevant authorities regarding the treatment of these animals.
We have had our booking cancelled 2 months before arrival even though we booked 7 months in advance.
Appalling behaviour by the hotel and no attempt to explain or try to find a way of honouring the booking. We would have been open to moving rooms etc if there was a technical problem. This was our first holiday abroad in 8 years and first ever for our young children. Very disappointed.
