Dreams Of Rome in Rome

I don't expect much from a hotel but heat in the winter, hot water a clean room and if there is a TV that it works seem reasonable. We had none of those things during our four day stay. We were assigned this room as a package and when I checked Tripadvisor I saw good ratings and nice pictures. My fault I did not look closely enough- the reviews were very old and the last review was scathing. When we arrived there was someone to let us in- the last we ever saw of anyone connected to the property. She was very nice and when my husband noted that the room was very cold and it seemed as if the split unit for heat and the TV did not work, she told us she would contact the owner right away and he would take care of it. She also noted that she would be in every day from 9-12 and if we needed anything we should leave a note on the desk. This was not a "hotel" by any means, when you entered the building their was a door labled "Dreams of Rome" , once you entered that there was a small entry area with a desk and then four rooms off it, three of which had keys in them because they were unoccupied- there also was a small kitchen area. We dropped our bags and headed out for the day coming back at night to find that the split unit for heat was not repaired nor was the TV, There was a small side wall heater that was giving off some heat- we tried the phone number on our booking which was not picked up and gave up for the night because we were exhausted. This was when we went to grab the blanket from the closet with the food stains on it. We thought with the blanket and the minimal wall heat we would be okay - we were wrong- the wall heater shut off at 11pm sharp. It did kick in again for an hour in the morning and then off again. This was not heat we could control- that would have been the nonworking split unit. So we went to take a shower to warm up and found the mold and that the water was cold- really cold. We had to head out without showers since we had booked train tickets somewhere, but did leave a note on the desk and brought the phone number of the place so we could call which we did repeatedly but no one picked up. We also reached out to our trip planner who assured us they would try and assist - unfortunately they could never reach anyone. When we got back late in the evening they heat and TV remained broken but the shower water was luke warm so we were both able to quickly shower. What is posted on Tripadvisor for this place is old and not accurate- it is not steps from St. Peter's (it's about a 45 minute walk) or clean and the amenities they note are certainly not there anymore. We never got new towels, a working TV, working heat, hot water in the morning or saw anyone from the place again. Someone did replace the stained blanket when we were out the first day but that's it. Make up the beds? No. Breakfast? No (We did not expect that but it was noted on the Tripadvisor site which is still accepting bookings). Our last night in the place someone kno
