Abbadia San Giorgio in Moneglia

This is an absolute gem of a small family hotel. It’s a tastefully converted Abbey with all the atmosphere of a historic building but none of the monastic discomforts. The quiet central location in Moneglia makes it very convenient for a dip in the Med ( 1- 2min walk) and the local bars, restaurants & shops are all a short walk away. Easy access to the coast path and railway station was a bonus for us - so no car needed. We enjoyed the sumptuous breakfasts and found the housekeeping immaculate. Greta & her staff were tremendous when we had a medical problem. They went above & beyond - thank you. Oh - we love church bells ( some people don’t) but there are no bells overnight! On a touristic coast this is a delightful haven.

Simply magnificent, Greta and her team are superb, no detail left untouched. An historic boutique residence allowing one the ability to access the Cinque Terre easily. Moneglia too is charming by night.

This was one of our favorite places that we stayed during our recent trip to Italy. The Abbadia is so cozy and welcoming, and the hospitality shown by the team was unparalleled! Also the breakfast experience was a highlight!

The location and accommodations are very relaxing. Greta and her staff provide excellent service and an amazing breakfast menu of healthy local offerings.

We came with as a family of 5 and loved our stay here. The hotel is beautiful and has a lot of character which is most often missing from other bland hotels. The staff were all charming and the location very central, yet peaceful. We stayed in another 5 star hotel in Moneglia for the first night as this hotel was full, but this was our favourite hotel by a long way. The absence of a pool is more than compensated for by the atmosphere of the hotel. The bedrooms are large and cool with air conditioning. The view from the cloister at night is magical, the breakfast delicious and you do not need to climb up the hillside to reach it. There was also free parking for hotel guests with some spaces immediately outside the hotel.

We were bowled over by the beauty of Abbadia San Giorgio. There is something very special about a cloistered space. We loved the breakfasts under the arches and the special Ligurian dinner. Greta and her team hosted us with care and warmth. The attention to detail in the hospitality and the decor added to a wonderful stay.

The historical building is definitely worth a visit; beautiful old frescos and bas relieves and amazing colonnades. The atmosphere is calm and serene, personnel extremely friendly and breakfast delicious and beautifully served. We have stayed in many hotels and this has been the most memorable.

From the moment we arrived, we felt personally cared for – the hospitality made us feel truly at home. Our room was spacious, tastefully furnished, and most importantly, spotlessly clean. The breakfast each morning was a highlight: everything freshly prepared and tailored to our personal preferences – a true pleasure to start the day with. The beautiful hotel, with its serene atmosphere and attention to detail, made our stay unforgettable. I cannot say enough. Among the very best Hôtel experiences I have ever experienced in many decades. Roberto and Greta are consumate hoteliers. It might not appeal to families with small children or travelers with mobility demands. Breakfast is served and is elegant. There is easy access to restaurants, beaches and the train station.
