We were six guys on a short bicycle trip, doing the famous passes in the region: Mortirolo, Stelvio, Gavia. Whenever there was a technical or historical problem, we got immediate help from the host, including direct delivery of spare parts :-) The food was excellent and the dining was cosy. We felt serviced at a high level :-) I would love to come back for more biking or for skiing in the winter.

Brilliant friendly staff, modern comfortable bar area. Great breakfast and the perfect location for cyclists. 5 minute ride from the start of Passo Dello Stelvio and 2 minutes off of the famous Mortirolo/Gavia pass 110km loop. Free next day laundry service for cycling clothing (hand it in by 7pm and it’s ready for 8am the following day!) and a secure garage for bike storage. Only thing I’d add, an outdoor poor area would be brilliant as it was 25-30 degrees when we were there! However given the winter weather more outdoor swing seats/ sofa would be more achievable

We stayed here n the last week of June 2013 with a group of 6 road cyclists from the Netherlands and I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it was just fantastic. Although we were slightly unlucky with below average temperatures, snow and rain climbing the Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo and other Passo's around Bormio, Hotel Alu though was the best thing ever to return to after a hard and long day on the bicycle. Chiara and her staff made us feel very welcome, the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and the beds provided for a good night sleep. Service was great in every respect from in-house bicycle storage, maintenance and repair room with all equipment in place, bicycle clothes washed every day for free, excellent breakfast and diners. The staff were just doing whatever they could to make our stay a success. On request the wellness and spa, sauna and baths were put on in the afternoon to sooth our tired bodies. What can I say more; if you choose Bormio as your base for cycling stay in Hotel Alu. Paul Huibregtse

The hotel's location is the best in Bormio. The location was so close to the slopes you could see the skiers from our bedroom window and close to the center of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation was great, in the room is warm. Very good room cleaning. The bed is very comfortable, great mattress. The food was excellent. The restaurant buffet was diverse, both for breakfast and dinner. Staff in the restaurant perfect. Very beautiful interior of hotel lobby. On the lower ground floor there is a sauna, massage room. Warm lockers for skis and boots. We will definitely be back next year.

We stayed in the hotel is second time. Location excellent, the views of the mountains. This accommodation all was superb. The decoration hotels was ideally and charming . Lobby with plenty of lounge space, beautiful comfortable sofas. Proprietors was very helpful. Loved the atmosphere of the hotel, the lovely caring staff. The room wonderful, the bed extremely comfortable, sleep was wonderful, good big sofa, safe, coolbox, plenty of places to store things. Clean cotton sheets and towels. Excellent cleaning. Outstanding service in the restaurant. Nice breakfast. Great food for dinner, large selection for all. .Free and fast Wi-Fi all over the hotel. Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and SPA area is great . Elegant comfort. The private big car park . You can put ski equipment in the warm ski-room. The hotel is situated just minutes walk away from the old town centre. Everything top notch. Will be back definitely next year.

This hotel is beautifully decorated. The staff are great and the spa was excellent. It had a parking garage and the breakfast was very good. However our room on the third floor was not sound proofed. It was too warm with no air con and the bathroom was very small and dark. We would have liked tea or coffee making facility in the room but there was none.

Exceptional attentive staff, excellent meals, very clean and well apportioned rooms. Also provides facilities for skier and cyclists, storage and tools. Hotel is family run and they are always on hand. Of course, such nice hotels do not come cheap.

Very stylish and beautiful hotel in central Bormio. Everything was perfect, the interiors with a lot of attention to details. Great breakfast selection. Really appreciated the free cycling clothes washing service.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous with fantastic views. It is situated very close to a cable car for the active guests and a walking distance to the town centre for us searching for the perfect cup of tea and cake. Food in the hotel restaurant was delicious and everything was topped with excellent service.
