There aren't many people in Atami during winter, which is nice. The seaside hotel is pretty good. They have a shuttle bus service to and from the station, and it's not far from the beach or convenience stores. The hot spring bathhouse is huge, and the hotel even gave us complimentary drink vouchers. Recommended!

I traveled to Atami with my son and loved this mountaintop resort. It's a short, narrow walk up the mountain road, but it was worth it. Absolutely loved this hotel! We had a pure ocean-view room on the eighth floor; I imagine the higher up you go, the better the view gets. The breakfast spread was fantastic, with nearly thirty different options, and there's a coffee machine in the lobby. My only minor gripe is that the hot spring pool felt a bit basic. If I ever visit Atami again, I'd definitely stay here.

I enjoyed my stay at Kaihourou. The view was breathtaking. Room was cozy yet sophisticated. The building is an architectural masterpiece by Kengo Kuna. Food was amazing and aesthetically presented. The onsen experience was very relaxing and exclusive. Not sure if this resort normally have English speaking guests. As the staff’s communication is quite limited with non-Japanese speakers.

The service and the large private onsen were excellent! Although Sawa's room was nice, it gave my son three big insect bites on his arms. We were not allowed to go up to view the second floor.
