We had a wonderful stay at Atami Kaihourou. The staff were friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. The ocean view was amazing and so relaxing—definitely something we looked forward to. We booked their last room last minute, it’s the cheapest room but still was spacious and with great design and nice view. The meals were also a big highlight: beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious....
very difficult to get to only offers service to residents
I enjoyed my stay at Kaihourou. The view was breathtaking. Room was cozy yet sophisticated. The building is an architectural masterpiece by Kengo Kuna. Food was amazing and aesthetically presented. The onsen experience was very relaxing and exclusive. Not sure if this resort normally have English speaking guests. As the staff’s communication is quite limited with non-Japanese speakers.
The service and the large private onsen were excellent! Although Sawa's room was nice, it gave my son three big insect bites on his arms. We were not allowed to go up to view the second floor. The dinner and breakfast kaiseki were so-so and seemed ordinary. There is nothing to do around this place. The beach is too far. For the pricey amount we paid, I wouldn't recommend it. It's not worth it.
Amazing Kaiseki expérience for the second Time. Délicate food beautiful plating and really nice service. If you want to experience Japanese fine dining, just Come here
Dinner was amazing. The taste and presentation were very impressive. There is nothing around. You can't go straight down to the sea, so it's farther than I thought, and there wasn't much to do other than stay in the room. I took a walk, but the view wasn't that great. This is a place for people who want to relax in their rooms. The staff were all very polite, but they seemed a bit amateurish or inexperienced...

Location was near train station & walking distance to the shopping districts n F&B places. Room was spacious n comes with an ocean view. Excellent breakfast variety n taste. Service staff was helpful, attentive n friendly. The hotel provides a shuttle to the train station upon checkout in the morning. Hotel has a playroom for toddlers n gaming machines for adults.
It's an 8-minute walk from Atami Station; However, the slope is a bit steep. There's a bus stop next to Atami Station where you can take a bus. After checkout, there's a bus to Atami Station, running twice a day. The staff were very helpful! The room was a Japanese-style room, and the cleanliness and maintenance were excellent. You can see the sea from the room—nothing to complain about! The...
The staff were very friendly. The rooms were well-cleaned. The Japanese dinner was delicious. The large public bath was also clean.
The views from the room and bath were wonderful! The hot spring was lukewarm, probably because it was summer, so we were able to relax in it, and my mother said she was happy that the bath floor was non-slip and she could bathe safely. The food was also delicious. The facility itself is not new, but it seems that some of the guest rooms and restaurant have been renovated, and the staff were very friendly...
Facilities: The facilities are complete. The toiletries for the hot spring bath are from very good brands; the shampoo I used made my hair particularly voluminous and smooth. These can all be purchased in the hotel's shop. Cleanliness: The rooms are clean and tidy, with no unpleasant odors, and the air conditioning system works perfectly. Environment: The hotel is 700 meters from Atami Station, a...
The location is excellent, about a 10-minute walk to Atami tram station. The hotel faces the sea directly and is right next to the "University Hospital" bus stop. The hotel offers a complete view of the seawall extending from Sun Beach, and you can watch the Atami Fireworks Festival from your room's balcony (though there may be some obstruction). On the night of the fireworks festival, the hotel arranges...

The room was spacious and clean, and the food was delicious. They provided futons for us which was convenient, and I was grateful that they could store my luggage for us. It was a bit of a walk from the station, but it was fun as it was close to the Ginza shopping district and the sea.
i enjoyed the time here. nice atmosphere and food
It took me about 15-20 minutes to walk from Atami Station. There is a bus, but I arrived late on the first day, so I walked instead. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. The location is pretty good. There are small restaurants and the beach just outside. You can also walk to Hatsushima Pier or the Atami Castle Ropeway. But I think the hotel itself is just average.
This is a quintessential, elegant, and immaculately clean Japanese onsen ryokan. The stay comes with dinner and breakfast, both thoughtfully served directly to your room. We were treated to traditional Japanese seasonal cuisine, a culinary and visual delight, presented on exquisite tableware. For added luxury, high-end Sekkisei skincare products are available in the onsen area.
We were very satisfied with the excellent in-room dining and the attention to detail in the food!
The environment is elegant, the room is clean and tidy. I especially recommend staying in a room with its own Fenglu. The meals are rich and the waitress has a very good attitude. I recommend everyone to come and experience it.

The hotel's location is quite good, but Japanese hotels tend to be older. It's very clean and offers a sea view room.
Hotel is located by the sea and we can enjoy the sea view from our room. Its about 10mins walk away from Atami station and there are convenience store and restaurant nearby.
The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Atami JR Station, making it difficult to travel with large luggage. However, ocean view rooms offer stunning sunset views and a 15-minute walk to the Ito River Trail to view Atami cherry blossoms. Furthermore, entrance to the Atami Plum Garden is just 100 yen with proof of Atami accommodation. Upon departure, the front desk can arrange for luggage to be sent...
The room had an ocean view and the location was good, but other than that it felt like an ordinary business hotel.
Very big and comfortable, but the road below is a bit noisy
My family and I have two different reviews of this hotel. For the location of the hotel I felt very pleased with the view of the sea, the sunrise, the big moon, and the fireworks. But my sister felt that it was too far from the station, the road was too steep, there were not many buses, and it was difficult to walk. For the hotel facilities, I think they are acceptable, but my sister dislikes the old...

This is a very huge room and clean but little old and very very remote. Must go by car or taxi otherwise a good 40 mins walk up the mountain from subway.
Overall it's a nice get away for the weekend. It is a moderately sized appartment that has many furnishings, utensils and cooking ware. There was a burnable garbage bag waiting for us to use. There is a balcony in room 6B with a nice view of the bay. There are extra futons and couches for guests to sleep on. The bath has a tap for onsen water. It was very salty to taste. This was my first visit in four years. I was disappointed to find the quality had significantly declined. I suspect it's due to cost-cutting measures, but the main course wasn't served warm, and the buffet, which should have been a good accompaniment to wine, was disappointing. Having to constantly get up to get up ruined the atmosphere, and the menu lacked anything that would encourage drinking. It...
I requested a shuttle service, but I was worried because I didn't receive any notice even though I was more than 10 minutes late. Since we had to climb quite a steep hill, I think it would be better to request a shuttle if you have a lot of luggage or if you arrive at night. Everything, from check-in to check-out, paying the bathing tax, and reserving the shuttle service, was done online, and I personally...
Good Points The room was spacious and the toilet was clean. Room access was by PIN, so there was no need to carry a key. I was happy that there was a wide variety of welcome drinks and light snacks. The basement carpark has only 6 lots for the size of hotel.. So we hv to park further down in the open car park. The room we stayed has toilet but no bath or shower which make it inconvenient if you don't go for the onsen The Onsen is nice anf clean. Breakfast is too simple for the price of ¥29,500 we paid. The room is big and clean. Overall is not value for money
The room was clean and uncluttered, and the amenities were all the bare minimum. All the meals were delicious, and while the main fish and meat dishes were brought to you by staff, if you wanted more you could pick up food from the buffet corner - a style I've never experienced anywhere else, but I thought was great. I was traveling alone, and the style was comfortable for a solo traveler, allowing...

The open-air bath in the guest room was fantastic. The quality of the hot spring was also very good, and it's a place I'd love to return to.
It was a bit difficult to get to the hotel if you don't have a car. I walked while looking around, but the stairs were difficult because the slope was high. Haha, but the rice was delicious so I’ll come again next time!

A little vintage, and lacking a few amenities perhaps but the onsen is great, the staff friendly and its a minute walk to the beach. Corona season made it feel like a ghost hotel, but we had the onsen to ourselves so that was nice.
Very nice! Onsen and Room Ryokan! Walking distance to main road.
Exquisite ryokan with communal same-sex hot bath indoor/outdoor and sauna. A bit far from the station if you arrive by train and have baggage to carry, perfect otherwise.
Beautiful, aromatherapy umbrella pine onsen baths paired with exquisite dining - the best seasonal, fresh and local ingredients, made for a world class experience.

The staff were very nice and the japanese food was great, based on fish and sea products. They offer a kid’s breakfast and dinner option, which is a plus. This is my second visit! This time I stayed in a Japanese-style room with a bath, but I was impressed by the massage chair in the room. I think it's good value for money for one night's stay with two meals. A tatami room with a futon... I understood there wouldn't be a view, so it wasn't a problem, but I couldn't imagine that from the photos, which made it seem like all the rooms had beds. Then, when I went to lie down on the futon, I found two or three long black hairs on the tatami that were clearly not my own, which made me feel...
All the hotels were fully booked during the first half of the Obon holiday, but I was able to make a reservation at the last minute. You can call to arrange a shuttle from Atami Station to the hotel, but walking is really inconvenient because Atami is a hilly area, and the hotel is located on a hill. The hotel boasts a convenient location, just a short walk from the station, and offers excellent value for money. Breakfast, which included tea, coffee, and bread, was satisfying. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the bed was comfortable. The only downside was being asked to show my residence card. Since this is not required for foreigners residing in Japan, I refused to present it.
This is an old-fashioned business hotel. The rooms are clean. The bathtub is small, so larger guests should be aware of this. I stayed here during a three-day weekend, so it was good value for money. There are many convenience stores and restaurants nearby.
