Ah, how nostalgic. I stayed there a few years ago during the Atami fireworks festival. It was such a memorable inn that I'm writing a review years later. Fortunately, we weren't bothered by bugs or mold, but the obvious cheapness of the place was striking. The furnishings, hallway design, room wallpaper, and every other visible detail were shoddy, reminiscent of a cheap school trip hostel, and it ruined the travel experience. Simply slapping black and gold wallpaper on a room doesn't make it look luxurious. The glue was peeling. I also wondered about the handmade wooden letters that spelled "toilet" in katakana on the hallway bathroom. It was cute, but it reminded me of a training camp. While the sloppy facilities were the biggest reason I shouldn't stay there, the staff's service was also lackluster. I still remember the grumpy response I received when I called about three hours in advance to let them know I'd be a little late for check-in.

Uminohaha Ryokan is truly legit. The food was amazing, and the private room onsen offered stunning views. The driver went above and beyond, proactively contacting us when we were running late and coming to pick us up. I don’t understand the low rating because this was truly an authentic experience. Exceptional service all around. Highly recommend this place!

This was my first time to stay at a hotel with so many cockroaches. There were four of them. They appeared in the bath attached to the room and in the room. I think one cockroach is fine because it's in the middle of nature, but four cockroaches is definitely a hygiene issue for the entire hotel. I wonder if they don't do anything to control pests. The room was somehow dusty, and the futon was a mattress, not a futon. I can't believe we paid 130,000 yen for three people for this. The food was also terrible. Even if it was a 9,000 yen per person hotel, the taste and presentation were a bit disappointing. I've stayed at several hotels in the same price range, but the difference was more than a world apart. You can't see the view from the smaller private open-air bath. The changing room was also somehow dusty. Even if the building itself is old, it wouldn't be unpleasant if it was a thoroughly cleaned hotel, but it was obviously not clean enough. The staff seemed to be trying to provide a pleasant customer service. I think it would be better for them to work at another hotel. I think some people might book this hotel thinking that it's a high-class inn because the price is comparable to that of a luxury inn, but I don't want them to have the same experience, so I wrote this. If they charge high prices and make customers have a bad experience, I think they will eventually not be able to survive, even if they are located in Atami.

My wife and I enjoyed the experience at Uminohana. Its uniquely positioned on the hill and you go through crooked and winding roads through the charming residential area to suddenly come upon it. The food was very good and service was excellent. As with many other things in Atami, the level of English for us non-Japanese speaking travelers was limited, but could be managed. The private onsen with the view of the ocean are a huge selling point. We enjoyed the onsen and looking out at Atami tremendously.

I would highly recommend staying here. The service was INCREDIBLE. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station...in the pouring rain. Though neither of us speak Japanese, they went out of their way to explain the wonderful, fresh meals for both breakfast and dinner. Our room had a private bath out on the patio which was incredible. However, your can also rent a much larger private onsen for no additional cost. The facility is traditional and beautiful. The staff was kind, friendly, and overwehlmingly helpful. We truly felt catered to.

I went there with my good friends.
・I am very happy with the wide variety of free drinks.
・I am happy to receive a cake upon arrival.
・There are many foreign employees, and they are generally friendly. Everyone is cute.
・The bath has a nice view and feels good. (It is better to make a reservation for a private bath early, after arriving at the room, make a reservation with your own smartphone)
・Rice is delicious. (This ryokan is a type where you eat in your room)
・Women are lucky to get some kind of shampoo at the service.
・The voice of the handsome Japanese male employee is very similar to Kamaitachi Hamaya.

I'm going to say something harsh, but it's really the worst inn! I stayed in a separate room with a plan that included breakfast and dinner. At the first check-in, I was guided to another room, but the flowers in the vase on the table were left withered. The moment I saw this, I felt like everything I had hoped for was lost. My prediction was right, but the rice was so unbelievably bad that I laughed! It's like 50% off supermarket side dishes arranged on a neat plate... Fried food is dry and miso soup doesn't taste like miso. I feel like the bad appetizers of the izakaya are coming out one after another. When the boiled abalone comes out, cut it up with a knife on your plate. Let's feed the zoo! Isn't it good manners to at least serve it warm? Only the scenery and the bath can be said to be 100 steps. This is the first time I've had such a low quality meal at an inn. I wish I could be. If you are going to use it, it may be better to stay overnight without rice.

Looking at the pictures, I was too disappointed because I had high expectations.
Certainly the view was good, but the surrounding scenery was not like a luxury inn, with private houses lined up under my eyes.
It feels like the pension has improved a little.
The road to the inn was a steep slope that only one car could pass through, so I thought I didn't have to drive my own car.

The stairs to the room were quite steep, and it was difficult to get back from the bath to the room.

At an inn full of tsukkomi, I met my friends and made them laugh.

Since I had reserved a villa, the reception was different from the ones who reserved the main building, but the room I passed through was not a room that I thought I paid 30,000 yen, but somewhere in the dining room. A cheap room like that.
And the lamp was flickering.

The terrace of the room? There are desks and chairs, but it's a narrow place, and even if you open the window and go out, it feels like you're sitting through the gap between the bed and the window.

The bed was comfortable.
The image of a hotel bed was fluffy, so I was very disappointed.

When I tried to make coffee and drink in the room, I took sugar and found a used one with no contents.
Isn't it checked at the time of cleaning? I was surprised again and laughed with my friends.

The windowpanes of the bath are not well cleaned and are full of scale.

Is iced coffee after breakfast quite light in color and tea? I heard it again.
I was told that it was a little bad, but I was surprised to serve the iced coffee to the customers as it was.

The only good thing is the private bath in the villa.
The atmosphere was good.

I regret that I made a reservation without seeing Google reviews.
I thought that Ikyu had a good word-of-mouth score and that it was a luxury inn in terms of money.

We recommend that you do not expect too much.

The Ryokan with scenic bay view. Fully service nice staff. Excellent onsen (indoor and outdoor)

Beautiful onsen with private bath in the room and two bigger bath houses. Fantastic looking sea food, very fresh, but a bit plain for my palate. On the pricey side, too.
