Reviews
Filled a form on its website and got a confirmation email - that’s all. No credit card required, no deposit and no reminder email before arrival. To be honest I was a bit concerned 😂 I tried to call to confirm my reservation but the person spoke little English so I wasn’t sure until we arrived to check in.
It’s located in a rather ordinary or even shabby town. Not many international tourists. We walked from the train station (you could actually ask them to drive you) and wow - what a contrast once you walk in! Our room was spacious, beautiful and comfortable. Everything in the room feels high quality and they have counterparts for kids that are so cute!
Though the staff can’t communicate in English fluently (blame ourselves for not learning Japanese fast enough 😆), I could feel their hospitality and care. Every time we came back, a bunch of them came out to welcome us. Everyone was professional and friendly yet gives a family vibe; the young lady who served us meals was especially genuinely cheerful and delightful - we didn’t see her on our last day and my kid was sad because of that!
We enjoyed the private open air onsen, the exquisite meals, and the view outside our window. They are truly creating art in their work, at this unexpected suburban place. I had rarely slept this well. Really relaxing and satisfying!
This is probably the longest review I’ve ever written 😆 sincerely want to express my gratitude. It is not cheap (Japanese onsen ryokans are all kind of expensive) but compared to popular destination like Hakone it’s pretty good. We find the whole experience worthwhile definitely. Wish to visit again in the future!
They contacted us before our stay and provided a shuttle to the station. When we arrived, everyone warmly greeted us at the entrance and we were immediately taken to our room. We were given detailed instructions in our room.
The wine and drinks in the lobby, as well as the drinks in the room refrigerator, were all free. The room was large, and we were delighted with the "Hou" room, which had an indoor bath and two outdoor baths. Both were fed by natural hot springs.
The private garden was also large, and the view from our room was very relaxing.
It was the end of the year, so the sky was beautiful, and the sky was filled with stars!
We had our meal in a semi-private room. Everything was beautiful and delicious, and the portions were just right, so we were very satisfied! We got carried away and ordered a half-and-half set of horse sashimi and horse liver sashimi, which was also a hit! It was absolutely delicious!
The staff were all very polite and helpful, and we felt very comfortable.
I'm so glad I found such a wonderful inn in Isawa Onsen. It's within walking distance of the station and close to the winery, so I'd love to stay multiple nights next time!
