The hotel is conveniently located, clean and hygienic, and the service is exceptionally friendly and courteous. On Sunday, we had many couples and families with young children checking in. After check-out, the hotel even arranged for us to take photos with people dressed in formal kimonos who looked like flower petals… a truly heartwarming and touching experience. Highly recommended! I would definitely come back again… The room rate is reasonable.

It was a bit disappointing that there was no Korean patch, but overall it was a good accommodation.

It is our first experience in ryokan. Extremely nice and cute, nearly no one speaks English, but it makes time in Hotel more interesting! Traditional room, good onsen (i personally prefer the one on the rooftop) and not crowded.
We had Beef Kobe dinner and it was good and interesting, we didn’t understand a half of ingredients in some dishes, but still enjoyed our time!
Complementary tea/coffee/soft drinks and dessert were adorable.

There aren't many Korean reviews on Trip.com. The staff really don't speak English... It feels like a lot of locals go there. It's a bit tricky if you don't speak Japanese well. Breakfast is also explained in English as "this is rice" or "this is soup." Enjoy it. Speaking Japanese, it's easy to check small details like whether a raw egg will be placed on top of the rice.

On the first day of check-in, a guest's outerwear (hotel supplies) was left in the massage chair the previous day. Cleaning is scheduled at 10 or 11 AM, which takes about two hours.

One bottle of water (from Fuji) and one can of micro-beer are provided per night. Snack time is from 7:30 to 9 PM on the first floor. Drinks are available at any time.

The onsen is only open to the public, but the water quality and maintenance are excellent. However, when I asked the staff about a tattoo during my stay, they told me it was illegal, so I was annoyed. Apparently, that guest was a bit scary. The private baths in the accommodations aren't hot springs, but the water quality is excellent. You can enjoy the outdoor baths at night while gazing at the stars.

The food... The explanations are a bit vague if you don't speak the language, but the portions are very generous. However, the menu felt tailored to the locals. It was so generous that I left the rest.

During my two-day stay, each meal was different and satisfying. It's just that the local cuisine felt a bit unfamiliar.

Overall: If you can speak Japanese and are familiar with local cuisine, you'll enjoy it.

This isn't a traditional, historic hot spring hotel, but rather a modern one. The rooms are nice, and the dinner and breakfast are quite generous. However, the hot springs are average (only three types available). The upside is that the rooms have semi-open-air baths. Relatively speaking, the prices are a bit high, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I have never been to a ryokan before, so I can't really rate the quality of service. But if you measure it as a regular hotel, it's very good. There are onsen on the first and top floors, indoor and outdoor respectively. There is a buffet where you can have a snack of desserts, but nothing more.

The room is average, with a massage chair and a bathtub on the balcony. The staff are very attentive and the breakfast and dinner are very rich.

This hotel has a lot of promise but doesn't quite deliver. The location is beautiful, nestled in the hills above the attractive and calming town of Arima Onsen. The steepness of the location means that anyone with mobility issues is likely to need car transportation to the front door. The hotel itself is well-presented, with a nice modern lobby area that contains drinks machines and serves snacks; these are nice, but are nowhere near a full service. The room itself was a mixed bag. Firstly, we were hoping for an outdoor bath, having been told 'some' rooms of our type contained these, but this was unfortunately not the case. The tatami-style bedroom was lovely and comfortable, but the bathroom was horrible, giving the impression of a renovation which ran out of money halfway through. The shower room appeared not to have been changed for decades and we used it as little as possible. A few touches were also lacking in the room generally: the air conditioning was old and slow, the light fittings also looked dated and the table was cheap and plasticky. Some areas of the hotel were a little unkempt by Japanese standards and made it seem as though the central areas were designed to give a false impression, This is a shame, as the staff were lovely, and elements of the hotel were very nice. With a little bit of refurbishment, this hotel could be very nice but in its present condition, it makes for a frustrating stay.

The hotel is too old! It's not very comfortable to live in, but the breakfast and dinner provided are very good. There are too many good hotels in Arima Onsen. The location of his hotel is better, and the service level seems to be much better in Japan than in China. There is nothing to comment on.

We stayed here for a day, was so comfy and the service was great.
I’m so glad that I could stay here.

Beautiful view onto the river and the forest from the rooms. Nice outdoor onsen. The rooms with a private onsen also worth it. Dinner and breakfast are okay but a bit boring and not exciting.

Excellent hotel ryokan built and with interior from the late 90's/ early 00's.

The hotel has great private baths (note that they are only hot water, not mineral water) and shared mineral water pools.

They provide yukata and a very good overall experience.

There is free wi-fi, which reaches to most places (not to the wine bath though).

Couple of nit picks that I had with my stay were:

-at exactly 6:00 AM my TV turned on out of nowhere. I have not requested a wake-up call nor have I set up an alarm. If such a thing normally happens, I have read that it is a disaster warning (North Korea rocket 🚀 passing by, earthquake warning, etc.) but no, apparently Le Bron James had done something with Nike (it was all in Japanese). It wasn't a very pleasant experience so I unplugged the feeding cables to the TV.

Another thing is - Japanese have these bizarre work windows for their restaurants, where you need to be in one between 6 and 8 o' clock, else you stay hungry as they will close at 9. The hotel doesn't have a room service option (based on the English facilities menu) which is a bit of a shame, as I would've loved to have something to eat as I normally go for late night dinners.

All in all great stay. Would revisit.

Arima onsen gekkoen was definitely worth visiting, you can request for the shuttle transportation to and from the main bus station. The hotel is relatively old. We chose the traditional room with tatami floors which was an experience, the toilet/bathroom seemed a bit outdated but ok overall. Yukata, sandals, socks are provided. They bring tea and set up the beds when you’re dining at the designated time. The buffet dinner was great, the desserts were exceptional..skip the deep fried stuffs. The breakfast was also a buffet and the food was delicious! There are 3 different baths locations. It was a quite pricey, close to $600 a night but worth visiting once. The negatives was that a maintenance personnel was working at 4am and hammering. There was a loud noise coming from under the room. It was very difficult to sleep as the hammering sound kept going for an hour or so. That was definitely not cool..may have just happened when we stayed.

My stay was perfect, the staff were very attentive from the start of my 2 day stay to check out.
I choose in in-room bath and meal service in the traditional Japanese room. Happy I did as everything was perfect.
As from my photos, the meals were lavish and over about 1 and a half hours. Presentation was perfect from the immaculately kimono dressed host.
The general access baths were also great, there are many options available. I did not have time to try all the private baths, so I guess I'll need to visit again.
The hotel is in a very private location, it's a bit of a hike the get up the hill, if not fit take the hotel bus.

It was raining in an April afternoon. We arrived at the hotel. Check-in was quick and detailed. The receptionist walked us to our room and explained how the facility work. Four hot springs, among them two open door ones. We enjoyed a great open door experience. Dinner was 怀石料理, served in main Japanese restaurant. Service was impeccable, food was okay, great looking presentation, taste was not to remember. Anyway, we came here for the hot springs, a great relaxed experience to unwind. We like this hotel.
