the receptionist speaks English and will explain all the weird policies they have.
price is not worth it and location is still far away from the station than what I expect. you need internet to find it. bed is not for western or european built. the shower room has little black molds growing on the side especially on the side of the has weird policies that you are allowed to use the shower from 7AM to 11PM only. shower room is very small.

This guest house is managed by very kind helpful Japanese wife and husband. Rooms are very cozy with well renovated from old Kyoto style architect. You can still find and feel the piece of the old house as well.
You can cook your self at the kitchen space, rent a bike (paid). Many small groceries shops are located near by but this place is kept a comfortably quiet.
Also, they have a "Japanese Cooking Class" occasionally held by the wife wth traditional Japanese Kimono Style. You better to check the event!

You can borrow a bike at this place for 1000JPY/day. Visit Arashiyama and other famous spots through the cycling road via Katsura river.

I paid extra to get my own room. There was a lot of people who only stayed for one night. It felt like everyday there were new faces. If you're a rowdy person who loves noise or makes noise, don't go here. It's always quiet and making noises almost feels like a sin. It had a kitchen and tables for you to eat or do work. Place is very clean and tidy. The staff was nice and helpful, overall great experience.

I just came here for renting a bike here, and I had a terrible experience. Firstly, the bike wasn’t in great conditions, so that I have to blow the tires myself. Secondly, I asked them by email if they had one more bike, but they never replied. Thirdly, and most importantly, I really feel they scammed me. I took the bike around sunset time. The staff seemed friendly and I kept it for less than 72 hours (3 days). However, once returning the bike, they become unfriendly and they charged me for 4 days, instead of 3, counting for every solar day singularity. I really feel scammed, as this wasn’t specified anywhere in the papers I signed. I even looked for a reasonable compromise (paying 3.5 days), but they listened no reason and started threatening me to call the police if I don't pay the full 4 days. I ended up paying the requested 4 days, just cause I want to avoid trouble, but I felt this was worst than a scam. Overall, a horrible experience.

It was in a good location but there are only three toilets and two showers for the whole place with over 20 beds.

Very nice hostel with private rooms. Traditional Japanese style guesthouse with very friendly atmosphere.
