Kyoto, 17 Nishi Kujoin-machi, Minami-ku (60 min from centre) 🧭 Map
This is a relatively large hotel. Check-in and check-out at the front desk were self-service, which was very convenient. However, they didn't provide any skincare products. Nowadays, many hotels offer facial cleanser, makeup remover, toner, and lotion, so this is an area where they could improve. I stayed here twice during this trip. The first time, they said I got an upgrade, and the room even had...
Extremely close to Kyoto Station, and it was wonderful for everyone in the family to have their own bed. The room amenities were thoughtfully prepared with three of each item, and the toothbrushes even came in three different colors, which was a nice touch.
Huge thanks to the hotel for upgrading our room to the top floor! It's located south of Kyoto Station, making it super convenient to get to all the city's attractions via train, subway, or bus. There are plenty of restaurants and large department stores nearby, including an Aeon mall, plus all three major convenience stores are just around the corner. The room itself was renovated, quite spacious,...
Fantastic stay, room is big and clean, good service and ambience is excellent
Best hotel in Kyoto. In front of with Kyoto station(Hachijo West exit). The room I booked is a newly renovated room and it exceed my expectation. The room is large and spacious, the bathroom also spacious). The amenities all complete including an iron. Near aeon mall, kyoto tower, 7e, family mart. My room located with shinkansen view. Very satisfied. Will repeat again definitely!
A superb hotel located very close to Kyoto Station. The staff is extremely polite and professional, providing excellent service. Luggage storage is available both before check-in and after check-out, which is very convenient. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is outstanding and truly worthy of a 5-star palace. The room was very spacious with a beautiful view over Kyoto city. The room is fully...

Super great location, one minute walk to kyoto station. Spacious room, feeling Comfortable.
Great location, easy to access and clean
Check in & check out quickly, very good location, staffs friendly & helpful.
The facilities are a bit old. Its location inside Kyoto Station, offering great convenience for environment and transportation, accounts for a large percentage of its appeal. Otherwise, the value for money is just average.
The location is incredibly convenient, right on the second floor of Kyoto Station. Every time we exited the subway, we were practically at the hotel, which was super handy. The room itself was quite spacious, with a business-like aesthetic. The night view from the window was fantastic; from our room, we could see the railway lines of Kyoto Station, and I imagine the Kyoto Tower would be visible from...
The location is incredibly convenient, right above the station and easy to find. It's a traditional, established five-star hotel with excellent service and facilities, and the rooms are spacious. On the 10th floor of the Isetan next door, there's a whole street of ramen restaurants that are absolutely delicious. It's also super convenient as a base for day trips to Nara and Kinosaki Onsen.

Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel, Otsu1 / 30

Otsu, 4-7-7 Nionohama (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Overlooking lake biwa room! From far you could also see the snow mountain ! You can walk around the lake in the morning!
Very good, the room was spacious with a pleasant view from the window. Personally, I felt the breakfast on the 36th floor was better than on the 37th.
Aside from its location by Lake Biwa, this is a very ordinary hotel with basically no service. The air conditioning was uncomfortable, either too cold or too dry. The windows were also dirty, making it hard to see the Lake Biwa scenery clearly.
Didn’t give me highest floor but the design is so cool and it’s the highest building and is very nice and clean and 24 hr check in also have shuttle bus
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan. The facilities are clean, and the bathtub space is sufficient, all of which make guests feel comfortable.
This hotel is located right by the lake, offering fantastic views. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the subway station, which makes going out for food and shopping very convenient. It's especially handy if you're driving, as guest parking is free. The rooms are spacious and tidy. Definitely a top choice if you have a car.

We had a comfortable stay overall at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto. The staff were professional and polite, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the station, easy to get around. There’s a complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel to the station. Handy when it was raining. That said, some areas could be improved. The bathroom felt quite dated and could really use a reno. Also can’t/won...
The entrance and ground floor assist to be renovated and quite modern. Rooms are old school decor wise but very comfortable. Great location, Close to kyoto station via a pedestrian shortcut. Hotel has free airport shuttle to the station as well which is fantastically convenient.
Large hotel located in a very convenient location close to train stations and shopping centres. There are two breakfast options in which you can choose to eat at a diversified buffet or a set menu in an observation deck on the 14th floor. The hotel itself is a bit old but renovated inside. The hotel has shuttle bus to Kyoto station, walking only takes about 10 minutes. Breakfast is nice and staff are very pleasant. Not close to Gion. It's Tower is magnificent.
The hotel meets all the standards of a star-rated hotel, but it's very discreet. We had a hard time finding it at night, even with navigation, because the dim hotel sign was hidden behind some bamboo.

Kyoto, 44-1, Kamitonodacho, Higashikujo (60 min from centre) 🧭 Map
Had such a great stay at this hotel. The environment is beautiful and comfortable, and the location is very convenient — easy to get around everywhere. It’s also very family-friendly, especially for those traveling with kids. Definitely a place I would come back to again 🤍
The hotel is less than 2 minutes from the exit, making its location excellent for getting anywhere. The rooms are very clean, and the breakfast is delicious. The only downside is that the ventilation fan is quite noisy at night, which might affect light sleepers. However, I'm very satisfied and would consider staying here again on my next visit.
The room is genuinely tiny, but the location is fantastic. Service is decent. It's a very compact space, but they've managed to fit in a good range of facilities. The price, however, is truly high. Fewer Chinese tourists are visiting Japan now, and there are more Westerners.

Good to stay very convenient and hotel give compliment coffee and tea
Extremely convenient location, just south of Kyoto Station. Plenty of restaurants and shopping centers nearby. The lobby bar on the hotel's ground floor is even cozier than a cafe; I stayed for five days and started every day of my trip with a coffee there. The hotel's facilities and service are impeccable. This will be my top choice for my next trip to Kyoto.

Kyoto, Gojo-sagaru, Horikawa-dori, Shimogyo-ku (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
The room was clean. Some floors were undergoing renovation. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of options. The hotel is located right next to Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, and there's a shuttle service to Kyoto Station twice an hour. A complimentary bottle of mineral water was provided in the room.
Had a great 3 night stay. Booked the premium room with access to the lounge with drinks & snacks. The shuttle service to and from Kyoto is very convenient.
An absolutely wonderful hotel! It's clean, hygienic, beautiful, and elegantly simple. Truly fantastic. The hotel's interior environment is excellent. The staff are very patient and enthusiastic, a truly professional service team.
It might be the off-season, so the price was really good. Check-in was at 2 PM, an hour earlier than most hotels, and I could extend check-out until noon. The room was okay; it didn't have a separate shower and toilet area, but it was clean and the decor wasn't bad. The lobby was quite grand, and the service was good – they even offered room service!
I've stayed at Tokyu hotels a few times before and generally found them acceptable, but this particular Tokyu Hotel has a terrible location. Transportation is incredibly inconvenient, and there isn't even a bus stop nearby. It's at least a 10-minute walk to the nearest subway station. The shuttle bus to Kyoto Station only runs every 30 minutes, so you still end up waiting a long time. The 3300 yen...
The room was very quiet, and the breakfast offered a choice of Japanese and Western buffets. There's a souvenir shop next to the lobby that closes at 5 PM, where you can buy gifts. The location is very close to Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, and the giant ginkgo trees there are beautiful. It's about a six or seven-minute walk to the subway.

The room was very clean and spacious. The hotel is right next to a bus stop and a convenience store, which made getting around super easy. All the staff were really welcoming and provided excellent service. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Kyoto!
The service was great, and the environment was nice too. The main advantage is the convenient location, very close to the tram station, making it easy to get anywhere. There are also many supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, which is handy for shopping. However, it's a bit of a shame that the public bath isn't a hot spring.
I was very satisfied with this hotel. It was clean and hygienic, and a taxi ride from Kyoto Station cost about 1500 yen. When I checked out, the Shijo branch helped transfer my luggage to the Mitsui Garden Hotel in front of Kyoto Station for only 500 yen. I had originally scheduled to pick up my luggage at 6 PM, but my plans changed, and I went to pick it up at 1:50 PM. The staff helped me with my...
Extremely satisfied! 😀 The lobby always smells amazing, and I got an incredible price for a 5-night stay this time. Super happy! I'll definitely be back! Always beautiful Kyoto!
I stayed here about eight or nine years ago, and it's still just as good! I'll definitely choose it again next time I'm in Kyoto!
This was my first stay at Mitsui Shijo, and its location helped me discover several delicious and affordable restaurants nearby. Overall, the stay was great, but I really can't recommend the public bath. It was crowded, and none of the tubs were being filled, which made me worry about the hygiene. It would be perfect if there was a microwave next to the ice machine. I was also very happy to receive...

The front desk staff were very polite, but it seemed there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel feels a bit old, and it seems to cater more to local Japanese guests rather than mainland Chinese tourists. Great hotel to stay at Kyoto! Love the hot spring bath! It's definitely a big plus. 2 min walk to metro station is very convenient. Room is spacious. TV can watch YouTube! Will stay again if I ever come Kyoto again.
The hotel's location is super convenient. The bathhouse and lounge on the 13th floor were a big bonus for our stay, and the lounge even offers a complimentary beer every afternoon! 👍👍👍
I had a great overall stay at this Osaka hotel, primarily thanks to its fantastic location which offers easy access to public transport and sits within walking distance of major tourism spots. While the room was quite small and the facilities were limited—which is expected for a 3-star property—the space was well-utilized and served as a convenient base for exploring. What really stood out was the...
Everything was fine, just the public bath quite small and short opening time, always long queue during peak hour.
Thanks to the hotel for giving this 'maple leaf refugee' an unforgettable memory! The hotel's hot spring was great, and the breakfast tasted good, though it got a bit repetitive after four days 😂 For those reading this, here's a bonus tip: the furisode at the costume shop opposite Yuanshan Park are super cheap, highly recommended! Location is good. Easy to assess. Booked for city view but given a closed window request for a change but a carpark view. Just abit disappointed cos booked for a city view for night but not accordingly to the booking given. Overall is ok.
The room was clean and tidy, and the customer service was professional and polite. The facilities were complete, and the lobby had a beautiful lounge area with free coffee. My requests made through Ctrip customer service before check-in were also met. Most importantly, the location is excellent, with many great food options nearby and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended.
Spacious room. Not crowded hotel. Very convenient location. Near 2 metro stations and street shopping. Comfortable bed.
The layout is well-designed, and the room is spacious. Pulling back the curtains was a delightful surprise: a lively yet serene snowfall. I went down to the hotel's lobby for a cup of matcha and enjoyed the beautiful view.
Traveling from Osaka to Kyoto, I stayed at the Cross Hotel for two nights, and overall, it met my expectations. The room was clean, tidy, and had a Japanese-style feel. It was an amazing stay. The onsen is clean and spacious. Rooms are spacious too for Japan. The lighting is on point. Water pressure in the shower is great and loved the scent of their hotel bath gels and shampoo. There are water filters to refill water and small washers/dryers at several floors.
No enough drinking water supply, one day one litre for couple is not enough. Breakfast foods are same everyday.
Easy access, near to subway station. Friendly staff. Laundry machines not too satisfactory.
it is a great location to stay at and walking distance to the metro stations!
Close to 2 stations and a short walk away from the shopping district. Clean and modern rooms with public bath.
The location is perfect for a visit to Kyoto and the hotel is very nice and clean. There is an onsen/public bath available for guests. At first we had a room down to the road and was a bit bothered by the noise of car/motorcycles late at night - so we asked to change rooms and the staff was very helpful about it.

We cannot complain this hotel is perfect for travelers who want comfortable Western-style accommodation in Kyoto with easy transport access. Also visitors planning to explore the city (walking + subway/bus). May be less ideal if you prioritize luxury boutique vibes or expect top-tier spa/amenity experiences.
This was my boyfriend’s first time visiting Japan, and we came to Kyoto for sightseeing. The hotel staff were kind, and at check-in they upgraded us to a room on a newly renovated floor. The room was very spacious for two people, and the view from the room was amazing. Even for me, living in Tokyo, the interior design and the hospitality of the staff really made me feel the true essence of Kyoto,...
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room faced the castle directly which provided a unique experience and enjoyable for people watching. We absolutely loved the bathroom layout and how spacious it was! The area is very quiet and tranquil. The train station is located nearby and easy to get to with several restaurants in the area.
The hotel is located in the city center, directly opposite the tourist attraction Nijo Castle. It is relatively quiet despite being in a lively area. It is close to a subway station. The hotel's location is great, right near Kyoto Station, but following Google Maps can be a bit confusing as you have to go through B2. The room was quite spacious and very clean. It's hard to put into words. The hotel is very close to Kyoto Station, which is convenient for getting around. However, the facilities are quite old. The staff's attitude was pretty standard, neither warm nor cold. But the Trip.com concierge and complaints department were excellent, really great!
The hotel room was spacious for Japan, and the location was excellent with convenient transportation. Our tour bus stopped right opposite the hotel entrance, and the bus to Daigo-ji Temple was also by the side entrance. It is a fantastic hotel that compare to all hotels during my trip in Japan. Newly opened and with excellent service. We did not expect to check in early but we had been told our room was ready when we have arrived 3 hrs early. 1 minute walk to JR station, Umekoji park and The Aquarium. I will definitely book again if I stay overnight in Kyoto.
Excellent location and hotel was incredibly clean. Highly recommended!
The hotel offers great facilities such as a public bath, laundry area, and on-site Family mart. Convenience location, just one station from Kyoto station. I will definitely stay here again next time.
I saw this hotel had a 4.7 rating on XC, but after staying there for two nights with my group, experiencing three different room types, I honestly don't feel it lives up to that score. Very convenient for me to go out for everything.I will back to stay here if I travel to Kyoto again.Thx for everything 🙏
The hotel's location is super convenient, just a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station and about 8 minutes from Isetan and Aeon. There's also a bus stop just 5 minutes away that goes directly to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Everything is so easily accessible. The room itself was quite spacious and pleasant.
This self-service hotel is excellent and incredibly convenient. Check-in was seamless, and the hot springs were open very late, almost all day long! The service was good, but the room was a bit small. A heads-up: even though I booked a double room, it was listed as single occupancy on Trip.com. If two people stay, you'll need to pay an extra fee at the hotel. The only downside was the limited space beside the sink for cosmetics. The bed...
My stay here was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I stepped in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and provided attentive service throughout, always going above and beyond to assist with any request. The place was just 10 minutes away from kyoto station with many eateries nearby
Hands down probably best hotel I have ever stayed in. We took a room on the 10th floor and was amazing views. Friendly staff and super comfy. Try the pink ‘Sakura’ rose you will not be disappointed!
The location was quite close to the main station, which was really handy for day trips and getting to and from the airport. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the rooms were great. The beds were really comfy and I would stay there again.
Overall, it was pretty good. The only thing is we visited during the peak autumn foliage season, so the price was significantly higher than usual. The room was a bit small, but it offered a view of Kyoto Tower, which was a nice unique touch.
The Mercure Kyoto Station Hotel is definitely a Hotel that I would stay in again in the future when I return to Kyoto for another visit. The faculties were very friendly and helpful. And the cleanliness is over 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to family and friends. The JR Kyoto Station is only about a 10 minute walk to from the Mercure Kyoto Station Hotel and there are lots of restaurants...
This is a very nice hotel with great facilities, service and cleanliness. Hotel is a short distance walk to Kyoto Station but since Japan is so well-connected, this is not an issue for us.
