Extremely good breakfast buffet spread and sufficient varieties for vegetarian travellers at JPY1,980 after tax.. 2nd floor onzen opening hours are long enough to accommodate guests’ travelling plans/schedules (6am to 9am & 4pm to 1am).Great location and hassle free self check in and check out process. Room is small but comfortable. Only fall short in terms of amenities. Only very basic standard items...
Service was good. The hotel comes with onsen and there are many amenities available at the lobby. The best part of the hotel is the location. You can’t get any closer to the train station. Love it!
We took the bus from Osaka Kansai Airport, and it dropped us off right across from the hotel, which was incredibly convenient. The hotel has an main building and a new annex. The new annex has a free public bath on the second floor; you need your room key to enter, and women also have an additional code. After a day of exploring, the public bath was our favorite place to relax every evening. The lobby...
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in February and was very satisfied with how clean and quiet it was! I booked another night this time. I also went to the hotel's public bath at night, which was very relaxing. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time. It's conveniently located on Hachijo Street, right by Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get around by JR, subway, or bus.
The hotel is conveniently located right by Kyoto Station, very close by, with two convenience stores downstairs. Transportation is a breeze. The front desk service was excellent; both luggage storage and check-in went smoothly. Some front desk staff can speak Chinese. The room size is decent. My 28-inch suitcase, when fully opened in the entrance hallway, left no room to walk. However, the room facilities...
Took longer time for the check-in process. I have luggage transfer from Tokyo to the hotel. The claiming luggage processed was not smooth. The staff mislook number on her lists and said it was not our luggage but the tag on the bag exactly shows my name haha. Luckily still got my luggage. Overall the room size is okay, consider spacious. Nearby Kyoto Station 😊.

We had a comfortable stay overall at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto. The staff were professional and polite, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the station, easy to get around. There’s a complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel to the station. Handy when it was raining. That said, some areas could be improved. The bathroom felt quite dated and could really use a reno. Also can’t/won...
The entrance and ground floor assist to be renovated and quite modern. Rooms are old school decor wise but very comfortable. Great location, Close to kyoto station via a pedestrian shortcut. Hotel has free airport shuttle to the station as well which is fantastically convenient.
Large hotel located in a very convenient location close to train stations and shopping centres. There are two breakfast options in which you can choose to eat at a diversified buffet or a set menu in an observation deck on the 14th floor. The hotel itself is a bit old but renovated inside. The hotel has shuttle bus to Kyoto station, walking only takes about 10 minutes. Breakfast is nice and staff are very pleasant. Not close to Gion. It's Tower is magnificent.
The hotel meets all the standards of a star-rated hotel, but it's very discreet. We had a hard time finding it at night, even with navigation, because the dim hotel sign was hidden behind some bamboo.

Service and facilities were excellent. The morning buffet had a large variety of food. And the nightly ramen was a thoughtful touch to the whole onsen.
Everything was wonderful, from the service to the overall environment. The staff were attentive and the experience was very enjoyable. The only feedback I have would be regarding the robe provided for the onsen, which felt a bit too small. It would be great if guests could be asked for their sizes beforehand to ensure a better fit. Additionally, while the room itself was comfortable and well-appointed...
This was probably the best hotel I stayed at in Japan. It felt incredibly clean — guests must remove their shoes at the entrance and store them in the shoe cabinets, so everyone walks around in socks. Breakfast was impressive, with a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes and even matcha latte. The onsen was outstanding: there were at least four pools, so it never felt crowded, plenty of shower...
Super good service and provide great food and drinks in different places and periods The room is so comfortable
This is a large onsen hotel, not far from JR Kyoto Station, with plenty of dining options nearby, making it very convenient. Upon entering, you need to take off your shoes and store them. The lobby has a free self-service coffee machine where you can get hot tea/coffee. The front desk offers multilingual service, so you can communicate any additional needs. The location is convenient, and the hotel staff are warm and thoughtful. I really liked it and will definitely come again next time! (The previous review was already very detailed, so I'm just leaving a quick comment as I saw a pending review here. I'll definitely be back next time I visit Kyoto!)
Traveling to Kyoto with my family, choosing to stay here was definitely the right decision. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station, which is incredibly convenient. The buffet breakfast is on the 17th floor, offering lovely views of Higashiyama and the Kamo River. The breakfast spread is quite extensive and the quality is good.
Hotel Okura Kyoto was the most pleasant surprise of our entire trip. First off, you can walk directly into the hotel from the subway. After getting off the subway, you enter a shopping mall, and the walk from the mall to the hotel has a very upscale feel to it. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming; we weren't sure how to get to the lobby for check-in from a shop in the mall, and a staff member...
We recommended this hotel to all kinds of travelers from nearby beautiful places and shopping areas spacious room, delicious meals and good services
Beautiful and very hospitality hotel
Top end hotel of all we tried while traveling around Japan. Large room, spacious bathroom, good quality beds and pillows. The front desk staff were very polite, but it seemed there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel feels a bit old, and it seems to cater more to local Japanese guests rather than mainland Chinese tourists. It's a bit far from Kamo River, and it's about a 2km walk back from the shopping street. It's quite close to the subway station (and two lines intersect there), but in Kyoto, it's generally...
Great hotel to stay at Kyoto! Love the hot spring bath! It's definitely a big plus. 2 min walk to metro station is very convenient. Room is spacious. TV can watch YouTube! Will stay again if I ever come Kyoto again.
The hotel's location is super convenient. The bathhouse and lounge on the 13th floor were a big bonus for our stay, and the lounge even offers a complimentary beer every afternoon! 👍👍👍
I had a great overall stay at this Osaka hotel, primarily thanks to its fantastic location which offers easy access to public transport and sits within walking distance of major tourism spots. While the room was quite small and the facilities were limited—which is expected for a 3-star property—the space was well-utilized and served as a convenient base for exploring. What really stood out was the...
Everything was fine, just the public bath quite small and short opening time, always long queue during peak hour.
Thanks to the hotel for giving this 'maple leaf refugee' an unforgettable memory! The hotel's hot spring was great, and the breakfast tasted good, though it got a bit repetitive after four days 😂 For those reading this, here's a bonus tip: the furisode at the costume shop opposite Yuanshan Park are super cheap, highly recommended! The hotel has a pick-up point in Kyoto, and it's also a convenient 3-5 minute walk from Keage subway station, right next to Nanzen-ji Temple – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle. It was an amazing stay. The onsen is clean and spacious. Rooms are spacious too for Japan. The lighting is on point. Water pressure in the shower is great and loved the scent of their hotel bath gels and shampoo. There are water filters to refill water and small washers/dryers at several floors.
No enough drinking water supply, one day one litre for couple is not enough. Breakfast foods are same everyday.
Easy access, near to subway station. Friendly staff. Laundry machines not too satisfactory.
it is a great location to stay at and walking distance to the metro stations!
Close to 2 stations and a short walk away from the shopping district. Clean and modern rooms with public bath.
The location is perfect for a visit to Kyoto and the hotel is very nice and clean. There is an onsen/public bath available for guests. We cannot complain this hotel is perfect for travelers who want comfortable Western-style accommodation in Kyoto with easy transport access. Also visitors planning to explore the city (walking + subway/bus). May be less ideal if you prioritize luxury boutique vibes or expect top-tier spa/amenity experiences.
This was my boyfriend’s first time visiting Japan, and we came to Kyoto for sightseeing. The hotel staff were kind, and at check-in they upgraded us to a room on a newly renovated floor. The room was very spacious for two people, and the view from the room was amazing. Even for me, living in Tokyo, the interior design and the hospitality of the staff really made me feel the true essence of Kyoto,...
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room faced the castle directly which provided a unique experience and enjoyable for people watching. We absolutely loved the bathroom layout and how spacious it was! The area is very quiet and tranquil. The train station is located nearby and easy to get to with several restaurants in the area.
The hotel is located in the city center, directly opposite the tourist attraction Nijo Castle. It is relatively quiet despite being in a lively area. It is close to a subway station. The hotel's location is fantastic! The design is also very modern and forward-thinking. The front desk and concierge staff were all incredibly enthusiastic and always attentive to whether we needed any assistance. It was a very satisfying stay. This was my third stay, and I was a bit disappointed. When I entered the room, there was a strong body odor that various measures couldn't fix. I had to sleep with a mask on, and it only got better after two days of ventilation. When I went down to the front desk to discuss it, the staff seemed a little impatient. I hope the hotel maintains its quality.

Love the hotel room and location! However, when we arrived, we were asked to pay an extra 34,200 yen for the room. We were told that our booking through Trip.com was for 1 guest only despite the room, a Comfort Tatami Twin Room with Terrace, being equipped with 2 single bedrooms. The hotel's location is excellent, right across from Nijo Castle. The decor is very stylish, but the bedding isn't great. The 'super king size bed' is actually two beds pushed together, and there's a big gap in the middle. We had to squeeze with our child on one side, which was really cramped. Plus, the bedding was too soft and offered no support, leaving me with a sore back for all three days of our stay.
Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was aesthetically pleasing with its decoration. The welcome drink was pleasantly served as well. The staff was friendly and helpful with our checking in process. I stayed at a Dormy Inn in Tokyo many years ago and still fondly remember their complimentary evening noodles. This trip was a bit of a nostalgic return, though I didn't expect so many people enjoying the noodles; there was a queue every night. Overall Experience (9.5/10) Our stay in Kyoto was wonderful, and I’d highly recommend this hotel to everyone. It has a private, calm, and clean atmosphere. Most of the staff were very professional and provided excellent service. I’ll definitely come back next time. nice hotel with good refreshment food and drinks. salmon rice served in dinner is very nice.
We love the hotel. Location is not far from all the attractions. Very quiet. Service is excellent. Up to our expectations. We will come back again next time and would recommend to others as well.
We stayed during a busy holiday weekend and the hotel was quite busy. Despite that, it was easy to use the hotel amenities (public bath, free coffee and tea and snack service) without feeling rushed or overcrowded. Our room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again on account of the amenities, friendly service, comfort level, and great location.
Stayed before, love to stay again and again. The room is quite spacious and the location conveniently located near Nishiki Market. If you are booking here, this restaurant 2min away from hotel is worth trying. This is amazingly delicious.
The location is super convenient, with lots of small coffee shops nearby. Great value for money, highly recommend!
