Kyoto, 128 Nishishinyashiki Kaminocho (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
I don't know why, but I can't seem to remember staying here at all.
The hotel has a very authentic Japanese style, giving it a cozy, home-like feel. The hot spring baths are also great and free to use. Breakfast was very rich, and the rice, in particular, was delicious. The only downside is that breakfast starts quite early, and the room facilities are a bit basic, but overall, the value for money is still acceptable.
Really good amenities. Has Massage and public bath
The hot bath and service were very satisfying. Soaking in the hot springs really helps wash away the day's fatigue. The front desk staff proactively helped with our luggage, which was excellent service. The only slight disappointment was that the futon mattresses on the tatami felt a bit old and had a faint smell.
Great onsen tattoo friendly! If you want a traditional Japanese experience this is the place, from bedroom to breakfast.
The perfect place for me as the first user of the ryokan!!!! The room and public bath are very clean. The breakfast is fantastic too

Everything was great, except the doors were quite heavy so they made a sound whenever we had to key in the room code. t
Extremely friendly staff! Very nice stay in beautiful Kyoto. Very accessible to all kinds of places!
The place is clean, including a very functional and well kept kitchen.   Very helpful staff, she facilitated my early checkout outside her working hourly, Thank you do much.
I was traveling alone this time, and couldn't find a hotel during a busy holiday period. This hostel exceeded my expectations; it was incredibly clean and tidy, and had all the facilities needed. The ground floor is a bistro where you can have brunch or drinks, and it has a great atmosphere. The location is also excellent, very close to Shijo Ohashi Bridge and Kamo River. Takashimaya for shopping and...
It's okay. It's my second time staying here. I think it's the same room. It's a 1-minute walk to Slo and 5 minutes to Suba.Kyoto. So I highly recommend it. It's very close to the river and the price is reasonable.
Great location with plenty to explore nearby. The restaurant/bar downstairs is very comfortable and the service is good. I'd definitely stay here again. Hotel guests get discount coupons for the bar downstairs – highly recommended for those who like a modern aesthetic with a touch of natural wood.

Outstanding hotel.  The service was fantastic, best we’ve had in Japan.  Great help booking restaurants and tours.  And a great location.  Can’t wait to come back!
We returned from a great stay at the Rinn Gion during Thanksgiving week 2025. If you are looking for a hotel on a quiet street outside of the busy city spots but steps from to , 7-11, and a short walk to the public train station, book this now! I must say the best part of our stay was the BEDS! They were SO comfortable with cozy bedcovers! Additionally, the room was a good size (we had two twins which...
Fantastic! The room was spotless and the service was excellent. I would definitely book here again.
This was my first time visiting Kyoto, and I chose to stay at a guesthouse. My experience was excellent! The host was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I would absolutely stay here again and plan to return to this guesthouse next year.
This hotel is incredibly close to many attractions. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the pleasant aroma of essential oils. Most nearby sights are easily reachable on foot, and it's super convenient for dining and shopping in the Shijo area. The hotel itself is quiet, and the rooms are surprisingly spacious. We also loved the complimentary small desserts. The in-room microwave was a fantastic...

Kyoto, 423 Matsuyacho Shimogyo-ku (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
I chose to stay at Pocket Hotel near Gojo Subway Station for my cherry blossom viewing trip in Kyoto. It was incredibly clean and hygienic, with separate accommodations and bathing facilities for men and women. I'll definitely stay here again next time. It offers excellent value for money and is very clean. Truly a great choice!
It feels like a boutique hotel but at a hostel price point, offering the perfect balance of privacy and community. The rooms are cleverly designed and spotless, while the communal lounge is a great place to plan your day. Being so close to the subway and Kyoto’s best shrines, it’s the ideal home base for exploring.
The hygiene was good, but you have to make your own futon. The front desk service was also very good. I arrived in Kyoto in the morning feeling very tired, so I paid extra to check in early, and I could even pay with Alipay.
This place is AMAZING for its price point. Everything is sparkling clean and quite new. The location is amazing as it is just next to the metro station. It is also quite close to the bus station and that's important as buses are way more convenient than trains in Kyoto. For food, there are cheap franchised restaurants around and 7-eleven right opposite. In terms of service, the staff there are friendly...
I had a very satisfying trip. It was very convenient to get to several places from here.
This hotel is in a super convenient location, very close to the subway exit. It's also really quiet, and there are plenty of dining options nearby like Yoshinoya, McDonald's, and three Japanese restaurants, all at reasonable prices. Plus, there's a 24-hour supermarket just around the corner. Inside the hotel, the restrooms, showers, and hallways are all very warm and comfortable, thanks to the good...

Definitely glad I stumbled upon this gem!! I really had an amazing stay here and everything was so easy and convenient! The staff was even so kind to help me bring my suitcase upstairs (Thank you again!). Definitely would come back here in the future! Very clean and pretty room!
Very beautiful clean accommodation in the heart of Kyoto. It felt traditional but modern. Easy check in, staff was lovely!!! Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
We love our stay at this place, Almost perfect The room was clean and as expected a bit small but LARGE for Japan . The only thing that I would change is Chairs and table to stay in the room are extra from my POV I would have remove a chair and a table and just leave the night stand and a chair to have a bit more of room for luggage But Everything was just perfect
This property was in the heart of it all but tucked away on a quiet side street. It has everything you could need in a stay. As if you were living in your very well appointed own apartment in the city. We especially loved the Japanese mattresses which were very comfortable for our kids and came with very nice bedding that made for restful sleep.
A slight walk into Shibuya but there is a bus stop outside. Hotel was great. Roomy and clean. Staff spoke very good English. Highly recommend.
The room is quite good. It is a two-story small detached house with six rooms in total, four on the second floor, two on the first floor and a public area, similar to a living room, with a long table. The second floor where we lived has two rooms + a kitchen (with a stove, microwave, kitchenware, etc., which can make simple meals) + a bathroom (divided into three areas: toilet room, bathroom with shower...

If you want to make international friends and are into the backpacker vibe, this is the place for you. Very clean. Polite staff. Able to store luggage before check in. Location is right in the middle of the tourist district. Sometimes the elevator was very slow to pick you up if a busy time. My capsule room had a rip in the screen which let light in. Overall great experience at the Millenials Kyoto. When you arrive there is a possibility to leave your luggage before check-in. Hotels in Kyoto are really expensive during autumn leaf season, so this place is a great value for solo travelers. Excellent service and a fantastic location! It's surrounded by a bustling commercial street, making it incredibly convenient for getting around.
Great location with basic amenities. Good for tourist. Well recommended and situated in a good location Laundry facilities can be improved by having paid laundry and the machine being lockable. Had laundry taken out inconsiderate users when it’s not finished yet
The location is great! The wifi was problematic though...we ended up using our own sim cards. Facilties are a bit old, especially the heating. There's only 4 settings, not like an aircon remote. But otherwise beds are comfy and there was sufficient space for luggages.
Old hotel with an entrance right at the station. Living on lower floors guarantees vibration from the trains and sound from the street. Location itself is great and price is adequate for the location.
The location couldn't be better. It's super convenient for visiting Arashiyama, Uji, and other places. Downstairs, you'll find popular shopping spots like Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, and Takashimaya is right across the street.
The Kyoto Central Hotel boasts an excellent location, right by the Hankyu station exit. The facilities are a bit dated, and you don't need a key card for power, but there are very few outlets. I booked a single room with a single bed but was given a standard room, which was a bit confusing. Living in the city center has its clear pros and cons: it's next to a subway station, making it convenient to...

Not very close to Kyoto station ngl . You have to walk like 10-15mins . But close to 九条 station(but no elevator). The bed sheet was a little bit dirty..
Very clean nice but i litte bite confuse about the key😅
Good location and good service. It’s easy to access Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofuku-ji Temple.
We stayed at this hotel during for two nights. 15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. The room is small, but quite clean. Friendly staff all time, no issue during our stay. Breakfast has a small but pleasant selection of food, including self cooking noodle bar and curry rice. I also noticed that they change some menu items daily. This property is good money worth choice.
Staff are friendly & warm welcome. Room cleaning was done as scheduled.
Enjoyed the free drink station and place to eat food. Didn’t like how they won’t clean your room if you stay under 3 nights.

Just the most wonderful stay with a lovely family. Thank you for everything and making everything so perfect. We loved it and we’re sad to leave ❤️
Perfect, traditional Ryokan. Location was amazing, close to everything but still so peaceful and quiet. Hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, making great suggestions and recommendations, as well as the prettiest breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. If you are looking for a typical western accommodation this is not the place for you but if you want a truly beautiful and authentic experience we highly recommend
Probably the nicest lodging experience we've ever had... The lodging itself is incredibly beautiful and serene, with incredible access to major points-of-interest. The hosts were so kind and generous, and really made our stay exceptional. Can't recommend this place enough!
Probably the best place I’ve stayed. This is such a unique little spot a walk away from cute shops, izakayas, the market, and the river. This old traditional inn has been renovated to feature two beautiful rooms that will surprise you in size. The hosts were thoughtful, very helpful and the breakfast was a great way to start our days. Thank you for having us
A really cool property and really awesome hosts! We had such a good stay at Ishihara and will definitely be coming back. The breakfast was delicious and the room was a really cool mix of traditional and contemporary design. It was very pleasant chatting with the owners after coming back at the end of the day. They take great care of their guests.
I have been indebted several times for more than 10 years. Director Akira Kurosawa is a regular lodging, and it is said that he refused a suite room in a luxury hotel prepared by the organizer for an award ceremony and stayed here. Many movies have also been written here. In that two-room room, there is still a whiteboard used by Director Kurosawa, and items related to the director are displayed throughout...

Clean, quite and convenient. A very good place to stay a while.
The hotel is located right outside the Otsu Station ticket gates. Entering the property is through the attached bar and restaurant. Most of the nearby restaurants seem to close around 11pm. There are no cooking utensils, but you can bring your own food and drink in the common areas. There are also pots and water dispensers, so we were able to eat cup ramen inside the hotel.
Excellent establishment, the staff are very pleasant and everything is very clean.
I used it last time, and the location, directly connected to the station, is very convenient. The showers, powder rooms, and other facilities are spacious and clean, making it a pleasant experience. I'd like to use it again.
Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return. I had a pleasant stay at Webase Kyoto. The room was clean, the common areas were well-maintained, and the staff were helpful throughout my visit. I would consider staying again.
The room is clean, a little bit far from the BTS station but convenient. The management system is good. The bathroom is shared but well managed. The shared shower room has enough space.
The reception was very warm; there was even a Russian-speaking staff member who gave us detailed information about the hotel's surroundings. Thanks to him, we were able to find perhaps the best cento of our trip. The room's downsides included the windows not opening, the combined bathroom and shower, and short blankets. The room's advantages included power outlets by the bed.
Best place to stay. The room is big, but the bathroom is not inside.
For the price its a good deal. However, note that the room is really small. We had to open our suitcases on the table to save space.
