The room had a wonderfully calming Japanese-style interior. The lobby also maintained a strong Japanese aesthetic, making it the kind of hotel where you'd want to stay another night.

The hot tub on the first floor was a hit with kids, and the breakfast was a perfect Japanese meal. It also offered an experience of Japanese tatami culture. The price wasn't the best value, but overall it was acceptable.

I chose to stay at Pocket Hotel near Gojo Subway Station for my cherry blossom viewing trip in Kyoto. We stayed at this hotel during for two nights. 15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. The room is small, but quite clean. Friendly staff all time, no issue during our stay. Breakfast has a small but pleasant selection of food, including self cooking noodle bar and curry rice. I also noticed that they change some menu items daily. This property is good money worth choice.

It's about a 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. The hotel is located right outside the Otsu Station ticket gates. Entering the property is through the attached bar and restaurant. Most of the nearby restaurants seem to close around 11pm. There are no cooking utensils, but you can bring your own food and drink in the common areas. There are also pots and water dispensers, so we were able to eat cup ramen inside the hotel.
