Kyoto, 423 Matsuyacho Shimogyo-ku (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
We have stayed here a few times. The aparthotel is showing its age, with some stains on the wallpaper. The air conditioning is strong and very cold during 37degree days which is extremely important so you can rest without discomfort. The cookware is newish so no problems cooking. You can loan a rice cooker. We enjoyed our stay and the front desk was very helpful especially Rosina. Our luggage was delivered...
We stayed here in April 2024. We enjoyed the hotel immensely and the staff was so lovely. I mailed a post card at the near by post office and it was returned to the hotel. The hotel reached out to me via email and asked if I’d like them to resend it to another address. This shows a glimpse of how friendly and hospitable the staff is!The room was clean and definitely a great deal for the price. It was...
Excellent service, friendly reception staff. Amenities like razors and dental kits are placed in reception area for guests to pick-up. A complimentary coffee machine is available in the reception 2pm-9pm, but it would be far more useful if it was available throughout the day. On asking, we were provided umbrellas and extra pillows. The kitchenette is too tiny to cook in but utilitarian enough for throwing...
Had a very nice experience here! Stayed for 6 nights. I want to start off by thanking each of the five different staff and concieger for their welcoming presence and helping with umbrella rentals, restaurant reservations, and luggage forwarding. Everyone was super positive, which I would remember the most from my stay here!
The location was great as it was close to the subway. The hotel felt secure...
Convenient location.
Suite style so there's even a little kitchen. Rooms are a good size, but many of things seem pretty old. They replaced the TV with a brand new one on our second night which was nice. Bed is just okay, bedding is quite thin, and the couch feels like it died 10 years ago.
Our booking came with the breakfast but I absolutely would not pay for it if it was not included - very basic...
Nice place with easy access to subway. There's a 711 across the street and several restaurants a few steps away. Super convenient. Staff is friendly and speaks English like other posts have mentioned.

Good place and location , a lot of technological innovations which is pretty cool
If you want to make international friends and are into the backpacker vibe, this is the place for you. Very clean. Polite staff. Able to store luggage before check in. Location is right in the middle of the tourist district. Sometimes the elevator was very slow to pick you up if a busy time. My capsule room had a rip in the screen which let light in. Of course, the nature of this hotel is you are close...
Overall great experience at the Millenials Kyoto. When you arrive there is a possibility to leave your luggage before check-in.
The bed is quite comfortable, the bathroom could be a bit cleaner ->dust falling from the A.C fan…
The service is impeccable (there is even unlimited cofee/hot chocolate… available all day long)
Breakfast could have more fresh pastries (they where taken out of the plastic...
Hotels in Kyoto are really expensive during autumn leaf season, so this place is a great value for solo travelers. They provide slippers and towels, and the shared bathrooms are very clean and modern. The showers are spacious, and the staff are friendly. It's a bit of a walk to the subway on the main street, but very convenient for buses. Everyone staying here is quite quiet. The only downside is the...
The location is perfect with nice environment. The staff is friendly. Excellent place for people doing digital nomad

I chose to stay at Pocket Hotel near Gojo Subway Station for my cherry blossom viewing trip in Kyoto. It was incredibly clean and hygienic, with separate accommodations and bathing facilities for men and women. I'll definitely stay here again next time. It offers excellent value for money and is very clean. Truly a great choice!
It feels like a boutique hotel but at a hostel price point, offering the perfect balance of privacy and community. The rooms are cleverly designed and spotless, while the communal lounge is a great place to plan your day. Being so close to the subway and Kyoto’s best shrines, it’s the ideal home base for exploring.
The hygiene was good, but you have to make your own futon. The front desk service was also very good. I arrived in Kyoto in the morning feeling very tired, so I paid extra to check in early, and I could even pay with Alipay.
This place is AMAZING for its price point. Everything is sparkling clean and quite new. The location is amazing as it is just next to the metro station. It is also quite close to the bus station and that's important as buses are way more convenient than trains in Kyoto. For food, there are cheap franchised restaurants around and 7-eleven right opposite. In terms of service, the staff there are friendly...
I had a very satisfying trip. It was very convenient to get to several places from here.
This hotel is in a super convenient location, very close to the subway exit. It's also really quiet, and there are plenty of dining options nearby like Yoshinoya, McDonald's, and three Japanese restaurants, all at reasonable prices. Plus, there's a 24-hour supermarket just around the corner. Inside the hotel, the restrooms, showers, and hallways are all very warm and comfortable, thanks to the good...

Excellent service and a fantastic location! It's surrounded by a bustling commercial street, making it incredibly convenient for getting around.
Great location with basic amenities. Good for tourist. Well recommended and situated in a good location Laundry facilities can be improved by having paid laundry and the machine being lockable. Had laundry taken out inconsiderate users when it’s not finished yet
The location is great!
The wifi was problematic though...we ended up using our own sim cards.
Facilties are a bit old, especially the heating. There's only 4 settings, not like an aircon remote.
But otherwise beds are comfy and there was sufficient space for luggages.
Old hotel with an entrance right at the station. Living on lower floors guarantees vibration from the trains and sound from the street. Location itself is great and price is adequate for the location.
The location couldn't be better. It's super convenient for visiting Arashiyama, Uji, and other places. Downstairs, you'll find popular shopping spots like Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, and Takashimaya is right across the street.
The Kyoto Central Hotel boasts an excellent location, right by the Hankyu station exit. The facilities are a bit dated, and you don't need a key card for power, but there are very few outlets. I booked a single room with a single bed but was given a standard room, which was a bit confusing. Living in the city center has its clear pros and cons: it's next to a subway station, making it convenient to...

The room wasn't big but it was very clean. Breakfast was a buffet, consisting of simple toast and instant noodles. The hotel's location was excellent, very close to the station and next to Aeon Mall, making shopping and dining very convenient.
Although the room is small, it's fully equipped and offers all the basic services you need. Breakfast, drinks, and coffee are provided free of charge on the first floor. It's about a 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. Note that getting to the JR station from the hotel requires walking through a long underground passage; the hotel faces the Shinkansen platform directly.
The room is old, the location is average, about ten minutes walk from Kyoto Station, the hygiene is not very good, and the hotel does not provide luggage storage service, which is very inconvenient
Simple hotel for the night with a great location near Kyoto Station. Room is standard size but it’s all I needed.
Location wise, its very convenient but it isn’t the best hotel within its price range. They don’t accept luggage storage after checkout which is unusual in business hotels as far as I’ve experienced.

Really good location here. Really good location here. relax
Clean, quite and convenient. A very good place to stay a while.
The hotel is located right outside the Otsu Station ticket gates. Entering the property is through the attached bar and restaurant.
Most of the nearby restaurants seem to close around 11pm.
There are no cooking utensils, but you can bring your own food and drink in the common areas. There are also pots and water dispensers, so we were able to eat cup ramen inside the hotel.
Excellent establishment, the staff are very pleasant and everything is very clean.
I used it last time, and the location, directly connected to the station, is very convenient.
The showers, powder rooms, and other facilities are spacious and clean, making it a pleasant experience.
I'd like to use it again.
Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return.
Lockers far too narrow even for airline carry-on. Bathroom is clean, shower has small dry area, and water pressure varies. Capsules are spacious with power socket, lights, shelf, etc.
The mattress is a few cm thick piece of soft foam...

The room is a little bit small for four persons but still sufficient considering it’s in Japan. The facilities provided are perfect especially the lounge area.
I had a pleasant stay at Webase Kyoto. The room was clean, the common areas were well-maintained, and the staff were helpful throughout my visit. I would consider staying again.
The room is clean, a little bit far from the BTS station but convenient. The management system is good. The bathroom is shared but well managed. The shared shower room has enough space.
The reception was very warm; there was even a Russian-speaking staff member who gave us detailed information about the hotel's surroundings. Thanks to him, we were able to find perhaps the best cento of our trip. The room's downsides included the windows not opening, the combined bathroom and shower, and short blankets. The room's advantages included power outlets by the bed.
Best place to stay.
The room is big, but the bathroom is not inside.
For the price its a good deal. However, note that the room is really small. We had to open our suitcases on the table to save space.

I'm happy to be able to drink soft drinks for free.
I also appreciate that there is a WaterServer on each floor.
Very small hotel. Not suitable for taking children.
The hotel is about 100 meters away from the subway exit, as long as you find the right exit. The room is not too small. The front desk is from Southeast Asia and the service is no problem. The room is really not too small, and there is also a leg massager. It is within walking distance to scenic spots and shopping. All kinds of food in the surrounding area can satisfy you.
Breakfast is average, not many choices. The hotel staff are very polite.
It was clean and good for the price. I had a free time and didn't have to worry about laughing. The front desk staff was also kind and happy.
Sightseeing is easy and convenient. Recommended!
The hotel is very close to the subway station. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to Zhuyuan, Yasaka Shrine and Kamogawa. The hotel room is relatively large in Kyoto. The hotel environment is clean and soundproofed, and the service staff are very friendly. The room is equipped with a leg and foot massager, which can help relieve the fatigue of daily travel, which is great!

I don't know why, but I can't seem to remember staying here at all.
The hotel has a very authentic Japanese style, giving it a cozy, home-like feel. The hot spring baths are also great and free to use. Breakfast was very rich, and the rice, in particular, was delicious. The only downside is that breakfast starts quite early, and the room facilities are a bit basic, but overall, the value for money is still acceptable.
Really good amenities. Has Massage and public bath
The hot bath and service were very satisfying. Soaking in the hot springs really helps wash away the day's fatigue. The front desk staff proactively helped with our luggage, which was excellent service. The only slight disappointment was that the futon mattresses on the tatami felt a bit old and had a faint smell.
Great onsen tattoo friendly! If you want a traditional Japanese experience this is the place, from bedroom to breakfast.

Staff was friendly and polite. Room is clean and comfortable. Location is a strong point as the hotel is very central and within walking distance to temples and shopping district.
For this price, the value for money is really good. However, they don't offer room cleaning, but they do provide towel changes. There's a free coffee machine on the first floor. The location on Huajian Road is also very convenient. Overall, the size of the room is perfectly fine for one person. Recommended!
Fantastic hotel. Great location, super helpful employees (who called a bike rental place for us), and good lobby with tea and coffee. There is no breakfast available, but we ususally got breakfast at a convenience store and ate it in the lobby. I would book here again.
Nice hotel and very well positioned! The receptionists are always happy to help you and generally they always speak English!

Karaksa was a very comfortable and clean stay. The downstairs area was also welcoming and comfortable. Staff were great, location was close to public transport but if you like to walk places probably not the best location as it's slightly too far to walk easily to a lot of Kyoto's tourist destinations.
The Karaksa hotel is a clean and nice hotel. It has everything you need and nothing else. It is a modern hotel with simplicity at its core. No extravagant offerings or amenities. You get a clean and nice room with no extra space but it is big enough. The breakfast is simple but sufficient and the egg salad was very good. The staff is very helpful and even fluent in English and very helpful in how to...

Very good hotel. Convenient location near Omiya station right in Shijo-dori and away from the crowds at Kyoto station. Comfortable rooms with a very clean bathroom. Good lounge space with free tea, coffee and corn soup that turns into a mini breakfast buffet in the morning. Highly recommended!
Very polite staff. Clean and modern looking. Of the minuses - no closet (they are all in Japanese hotels is not caught) and generally a bit crowded. There is Breakfast and free coffee 24 hours a day. The area is nice. Metro in 2 minutes. If you just spend the night, everything is super.

One of our best hotels stays. The rooms are spacious. Ironing, washing, drying facilities are all provided(sone at a small fee). The location is a 10 minutes walk to Nishiki market and larger malls and it’s very convenient to access Shrines in Osaka, metros stations from here.
Very comfortable. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.
Very good. Washing machine was on the small side so had to do three loads of laundry but it was no problem…
The room had a lovely Japanese design. However, as this room type is located on the ground floor, it can get a bit dim. Nonetheless, it didn't detract from our overall stay.
Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The semi-double bed was wonderfully roomy, ensuring a great night's sleep. The place was very clean and the staff were friendly. We had a 10 AM check-out but they kindly allowed us to extend it until 12 PM, for which I'm very grateful.
I used room 201 on the second floor.
I had to open the window for one night due to the moldy smell.
Soundproofing was poor.
The room was spacious.
A great little hotel with surprisingly plenty of space by Japanese standards. Good location and good service, ideal for a short stay in Kyoto.
The separate tatami room makes eating and drinking convenient, and the bathtub and toilet are each located separately, making it incredibly comfortable! If I ever return to Kyoto, I'd definitely come back!
The room is relatively large, there are many restaurants around, it is very convenient to go to Kinkakuji Temple, Kiyomizu Temple, Nijo Castle, and Kyoto Station, and the price is affordable. There are two double beds and two tatami floors. It is the best choice for family accommodation.

Nice location in Gion, close to noteworthy points both at night and during the day
Very good value for money overall
The room was rather small; with two large suitcases open, space had to be cleverly utilized. Room cleaning was done at fixed times, every other day, but towels were changed and trash disposed of daily upon request. I thought the location would be a bit off-putting, considering it's a bit far from Kyoto Station, but it's also close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and there were more restaurants and attractions nearby than I expected! The facilities were nice, and most importantly, the staff were friendly!
