This hotel faces Lake Biwa directly, offering fantastic views. It's conveniently located near a supermarket and a popular duck meat soba restaurant by the lake. The hotel's shuttle bus is also very convenient

Hotel Otsu Biwako was absolutely superb in terms of both facilities and service. It was the most satisfying hotel stay during my entire trip to Japan. We were given a high-floor room with a delightful view

Aircon in room wasn’t that cool as it could get stuffy with 4 people in the room. Little dated hotel but good for staying a night or 2. Parking was free when signed up with their free membership program

Convenient central Kyoto location, next to subway station and in close proximity to many local attractions. If you a keen runner, there is a beautiful run and walking route around the river and map is provided by hotel

The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming; we weren't sure how to get to the lobby for check-in from a shop in the mall, and a staff member from the shop actually escorted us there

The hotel is incredibly well-located, just 200 meters from a subway station. A large supermarket is also conveniently situated about 200 meters to the right, and there's even another supermarket down a nearby alley

The front desk staff were very polite, but it seemed there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel feels a bit old, and it seems to cater more to local Japanese guests rather than mainland Chinese tourists

The onsen (hot spring bath) is small and gets very crowded; the women's bath was almost always full at every time of day

It's like no one wants to shower in their own room's bathtub; everyone prefers the public bath for convenience

My first stay at THE CROSS HOTEL was the most satisfying night of my trip to Japan, with many experiences excelling in the details! First, the location is excellent, very close to BAL, and it's only a 2-3 minute walk to the hotel from the bus stop

The hotel offers complimentary skincare products on the first floor. However, the room facilities are a bit old, and not being able to open the window made it a bit stuffy

This hotel is conveniently located near exits 2 and 26 of Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line. Once you exit, turn left and walk for about seven or eight minutes. The bus stop is called Shijo Nishinotoin

The environment is nice, and public transportation is right outside, making shopping convenient. There are plenty of food stalls and various duty-free shops nearby

The room was very clean, compact as always, and the bathroom had a bathtub 🛁. The location is excellent; the bus stop downstairs goes to all the main attractions

Although an older hotel it is very clean and excellent customer service. There is a business centre so one can search for places to go in Japanese and print out the address and show to taxi drivers

Every time I visit Kyoto these past few years, I always stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, right in Sanjo Kawaramachi, very close to the Kamo River. There are tons of shopping and dining options nearby

Every day they give you a complimentary bottle of water, which is a nice touch. Super nice amenities! The shower was great, and I loved the lavender shampoo and conditioner

The hotel is very well composed. I really enjoy the spacious lobby and common area. The room is very cozy with warm colour and carefully chosen selections of supplies.

The hotel is housed in the former Kyoto Central Telephone Office, a building originally constructed during the Taisho era, and was redesigned by the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma

The lobby's public areas offer lounge sofas and coffee tables, as well as shared co-working desks, catering to various guest needs. It feels very vibrant, suitable for both leisure and business travelers

The first floor houses a stylish small shopping center, Shinfukan, with trendy brands, which is quite interesting. I would definitely choose to stay here again

The hotel's overall architecture, with its red bricks and black grid windows, is both classic and contemporary, blending well with Kyoto's traditional wooden building style

The only downside was the subpar soft service. Halfway through my stay, my own towel went missing. I suspect it got mixed up with the hotel towels, but this level of housekeeping service is simply unprofessional

The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious! So worth it! My daughter said she wants to stay here again next time we visit Kyoto! Too bad I forgot to take pictures of the amazing breakfast

The hotel is situated in the relatively quiet area of Nijo, yet it's still within walking distance of Kawaramachi. Walking back to the hotel along the Kamo River or the small stream nearby every day was very pleasant

The hotel is new and very clean, with comfortable rooms. The only downside is that it doesn't have a window. They offer free coffee and a public bath. Overall, it's excellent.

Every time I visit Kyoto, I choose this hotel. It's right on Shijo Street, which is incredibly convenient. It's also very close to Daimaru Department Store, and the surrounding area is great for exploring.

The hotel is about 500 meters from the subway station and very close to Kawaramachi. You can walk its entire length, and there are supermarkets, with a Lawson convenience store right downstairs

Had a great stay at Via Inn Kyoto, very convenient as it is located near to the bus and train stations. They even kept my luggage prior to checking in and after checking out as well

The rooms are small but completely comfortable, the staff are kind and helpful, and there is a lovely amenities bar well stocked with everything you would need for your stay

I had previously stayed at a Via Inn hotel in Osaka, and this hotel continued to meet my expectations after being thoroughly pleased with my stay in Osaka

This hotel is great in many ways. The location is excellent: the subway, the Keihan light rail, the airport limo bus stop are near. Shopping and nightlife are walkable. It occupies a peaceful spot overlooking the river

I was very pleased with the hotel room design, comfort and space. The parking is first come first serve even though I had requested for it earlier so I had to park elsewhere for the first few nights

However, if you have luggage, would suggest to go via exit 3, take the lift to another hotel lobby (I can’t recall the hotel name). Solaris is across the street from this hotel. I don’t see any lift if taking exit 1

Food I did not order breakfast from the hotel. There are cafes around and at the underground mall. The hotel will provide you with a list of cafes and restaurants serving local Kyoto food and other cuisines

  Amenities Good selection and of good quality. They use Laura Ashley toiletries. Amenities can be picked up at the reception - you take what you need - hair band, cotton pads/buds, toothbrush, comb etc

Very good stay, hotel staff very friendly. Room room size is okay for 2 pax. Just by the Kamo River, love the morning walks just by the river. Food and shopping conveniently by the hotel location.

An absolute must-stay for maximum indulgence and relaxation. Love the private onsen spa! It's a delightful stay with a marvelous location.

The staffs were really helpful and kind. Parking was easy with valley parking available. We did however got complaints when kids were being kids in the room. I didn’t think the kids were making excessive noise though

The Duji restaurant is excellent!

Overall good, but a bit pricy

Despite the minor inconvenience, the bathtub is amazing and spacious. The thermal spring is clean and is usually not busy. The hotel provides swim suit for guests as it is a mixed pool

The staff are quite friendly, but it feels like this might be Mitsui Fudosan's first foray into such a high-end luxury hotel, as the overall system operation seems a bit unrefined

A small trek from the closest subway station, however a free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes from Karasuma Oike throughout the day, making access to central Kyoto convenient and fast

Traveling with family, I saw the reviews and booked without hesitation. It truly didn't disappoint! We tried both breakfast restaurants, and each had its own unique charm – both are definitely worth it

The only minor drawback was that the Japanese restaurant offered free kids' meals and extra complimentary sets for children, while the European restaurant insisted on charging half price

So that was no problem for us, as I think you would pay a lot more for rooms with this quality & size in downtown Kyoto

It's not a big deal, but it did leave a slight sour taste. Overall, it was great, and we'd stay here again next time

We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at Otsu Station was the pick-up point, and the driver kindly took our luggage and explained that the pick-up was across the street, without being rigid about making us go there

I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly

I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa

I had a very comfortable 3-day stay at this hotel. It's right near a pedestrian street, which made it super convenient to walk to Smart Coffee

For such a prime and expensive location, the room size is actually quite good! The Kamo River and Kawaramachi area right next to the hotel offer truly healing beautiful scenery, and there are tons of great food options right outside the door too!

The hotel's location is really great; I love the Isomaru right across the street. This time, though, I encountered a staff member who wasn't very sharp

The main draw is how comfortable it is right by the Takase River, and Ogawa Coffee, just one traffic light away, is also delicious

Also, the beds in the hotel are incredibly comfortable – just the right firmness – ensuring a good night's sleep

There's a supermarket just 20 meters to the left when you leave the hotel. Matsuya (a popular beef bowl restaurant) is about 200 meters further to the left, with Isomaru Suisan directly opposite it

I stayed for two consecutive nights. The lobby is spacious and even features a garden, which is quite beautiful. The only downside is that it's a bit far from the main business district, requiring two subway stops.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in the heart of Kyoto. The location is perfect — close to major sights, cafes, and transportation. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful

I'm giving this place full marks, it's just so convenient! It's about 200 meters from the subway exit (take the Starbucks exit), and only a 10-minute walk to Daimaru Department Store and Nishiki Market

My only minor gripes are that they don't even provide a bottle of water, and the hotel's public bath isn't very big – it felt cramped with just four people

On the bright side, there's a 7-Eleven right across the street, which is super handy for buying things

We stayed during a busy holiday weekend and the hotel was quite busy. Despite that, it was easy to use the hotel amenities (public bath, free coffee and tea and snack service) without feeling rushed or overcrowded

What I Liked the Most • Exceptional Soundproofing: During our two-night stay, we never heard any noise from the neighboring rooms—not even the sound of running water, which I often encounter elsewhere

Amazing hotel right at the shopping street. For the money it was a mind-blowing. Very quiet, very clean. The reception desk is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here and will come back eventually.

Location was good. Easy to travel around amenities. Walking distance to train and bus station. Plenty of good food and shopping around the area. Room is spacious. Bathroom has ample space too.
