Reviews
Really thanks to them and yo Hotel Plaza, it was a pleassure.
I have stayed in places that failed in one memorable way. This one fails quietly, on every front.
Reception promised my suit by noon. It arrived at eight in the evening — not with an apology, but with the faint air of a favour. The shower door is broken. The wardrobe hangers snap rather than hold. The WiFi is barely functional, and — in a touch I still cannot account for — each floor operates on its own separate password. Breakfast is consistent in exactly one respect: it is reliably forgettable.
None of this, individually, would sink a stay. What sinks it is the unifying thread — the sense that no one here is troubled by any of it. The broken door, the dead WiFi, the suit that appeared nine hours late: all of it flows from the same source. Nobody cares.
There are hotels that fail you by accident. This one has made a system of it.
I chose the plaza hotel to enjoy a bit of relaxation after being out in the wilderness for a week. The hotel itself has a comfortable feel but is wracked with problems.
My rooms air condition was broken made a banging noise all through the night. There was no way to switch it off. When I asked reception to take a look at it, no apology was made, they simply said they would send someone to look at it. On the second day, I complained again and someone finally showed up to look at it. He admitted to me he wasn’t a mechanic, just security. He took a look walked away and no one else came for the rest of my stay.
Their laundry service also messed up, I was given back the wrong clothes, what makes it worse is that service was not cheap.
The staff generally have a bad attitude, at breakfast everyone was watching reels. When you asked for something they seemed annoyed to have to help, then immediately went back on their phones.
That said the hotel has potential, the rooms are spacious, the bed was comfortable.
All in all, I would not stay here again.
Have a sauna, swimming pool and arrange airport transfers.
First, it was a hot day in Bishkek, and our room was uncomfortably warm. The air conditioning was not working. When I brought this to the receptionist's attention, I was told that the hotel doesn’t operate the AC in fall or winter and was advised to open a window. However, the hotel is located close to one of the busiest streets in the city, so noise from traffic made it impossible to sleep. I was told someone would check the AC, but no one ever came.
The staff was inattentive. The person responsible for assisting guests with luggage was watching TikToks on their phone instead of helping, so we had to carry our suitcases ourselves.
The Wi-Fi was not working at all during our stay.
I specifically booked this hotel after a hiking trip in Kyrgyzstan because it advertised a sauna. At check-in, I was told the sauna was open until midnight. When I went to use it, it was completely cold and clearly unused for days , even showing visible mold on the ceiling. The receptionist had no idea and only after a phone call did she confirm it was broken and wouldn’t be fixed until the following week.
I also requested a gluten-free breakfast box for an early flight. Despite clearly specifying this, I was given one containing regular bread. At that point, I didn’t have the energy to ask for a correction.
The safe was not working.
Overall, the staff was disengaged and not welcoming. They appeared indifferent to guests and the hotel's operations.
To be fair, the pool as open, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location is convenient. Parking is available in front of the hotel, though limited, you may need to park on nearby streets if it’s busy.
If you're looking for value for money, reliable services, or even basic hospitality, I strongly recommend considering other options in Bishkek.
The airport transfer was equally unprofessional. The first car arrived late and was far too small for three people with luggage. After another fifteen minutes, a second car finally showed up, meaning we were delivered to the airport with significant delay, creating a stressful situation that could have been avoided.
The glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and Google Maps do not reflect reality. The breakfast buffet was extremely poor: bland selection, low-quality filter coffee, and unappetizing fruit.
The wellness area was another major disappointment. The sauna smelled unpleasant and musty, the pool water was uncomfortably cold, and the loud ventilation system beside the pool made any attempt at relaxation impossible.
In conclusion, the Plaza Hotel Bishkek utterly fails to deliver on the promises implied by its online reputation. For travelers who value hospitality, professionalism, and comfort, this hotel is simply not an option.
