Hostal Alcina in Cala Ratjada

Not a great stay but to start with a positive point is the location is great to access beaches and restaurants and it is a beautiful area. Also the staff are friendly. Pool area is nice however this is located across the street which wasn't stated when booking. The poolside bar didn't open at all while we were there and so we kept leaving the pool area and visiting the supermarket throughout the day for cool drinks as couldnt house any in our room as there was no fridge and was really hot weather. The main points to note are the room my daughter and I were given was nothing like what was advertised. Bed sheets and towels were clean but the room was not, the floor and bathroom were dirty. Numerous areas needing maintenance work, cracked tiles, holes filled in not well, the shower didn't work and there were no plugs to have a bath. Most importantly there wasn't a fridge, kettle or air conditioning and when asked if could have option of a fan they couldn't provide any it was 30 plus degrees and left us feeling a little ill during our stay not being able to regulate temperature or keep any drinks cool. Had to leave the balcony door open which hindered sleep due to noisy street and bugs entering. Some people have commented on you get what you pay for but this wasn't that cheap and would expect the basics of a small fridge and a fan at least when holidaying for a week. We have stayed in cheaper places with better basic room facilities. Will visit the location again but wouldn't stay here again.

For the price it was always going to be cheap and cheerful but although I expected tired decor and lower quality I did think they’d at least clean the rooms. In a weeks stay we had our room cleaned twice! And even then their version of cleaning involves throwing clean towels on the bed and emptying the bin! Good location and has a nice looking restaurant downstairs with an extensive menu but I didn’t try it due to judging their hygiene standards by the hotel rooms. Can be noisy on the Main Street. Not expensive but you get what you pay for. Lesson learnt.

Beds very uncomfortable Dirty rooms with cockroaches Dirty curtains on balcony Cleaners come when they feel like it Too noisey from other guests The breakfast isn’t for me the coffee is horrible the bread is hard Not a lot of options for breakfast The pool is lovely great staff the young boy working is brilliant. Other staff are rude have conversations on there mobile while serving Beautiful area the beaches out of this world, won’t stay in this hotel / hostel if I visit again. This is my second visit to same hotel with 7 years and still the same I came back as thought might have changed. Good price to stay here if you want loud dirty and horrible food. Definitely not for me !

The room was dirty when we arrived, there was hair all over bathroom floor. It was a good location and a budget hotel, but not worth it.
