Reviews
The pros:
-The food was great, didn’t have a bad meal at all
-The entertainment team were great
-The pool was nice
-Close to one of the best beaches
-A few convenience shops across the road a 5 minute walk to more shops and restaurants
-Proper cocktails made to order which are tasty however, very little alcohol in them and you would need to have quite a few to feel anything
-There is a small gym, bike facilities and entertainment shows in the evening
-Parking outside if you have a car
The cons
-The rooms are dated. We were given a disabled room which included of a wet room which meant water went all over the floor and even into the hallway as the water went under the shower curtain each time we showered. The shower head was broken with water spraying out a hole in the top but this was changed promptly when reported
-Spirit drinks were extremely watered down. Asked for a few spirits straight to see and you could taste instantly
-The alcohol in the cocktails also watered down and cocktail bar wasn’t open until 5.30pm. There was always a queue with sometimes only 1 person serving with about 15 people in the queue
-You are strictly not allowed to take any cocktails or any other drinks which are not served in the restaurant to dinner. I am unsure why this is and we didn’t know so we went dinner with 2 cocktails and were chucked out of the restaurant while having plates of food infront of us. We had to move outside. Once moving all our stuff, someone else came over and said you can’t sit here either. It was ridiculous and don’t see the point of this when you can get wine and beer from the restaurant?? We were allowed to continue eating our dinner if we didn’t touch the cocktails while sitting there 🤷🏽♀️🤯
There has been a lot of negativity posted in recent weeks so thought I would give an honest review of both positive views and room for improvement.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the pungent smell of stagnant water that I first believed to be sewage but soon learnt different after visiting various parts of Alcudia. This was more outside than inside the complex so no real cause for alarm.
Check in was flawless, apartment was nice, tidy, clean and sufficient for our needs. No comparison to Pontins (and yes, i have been to that hole). The air conditioning was preset to a specific temperature and only works with the key card present. Same with the fridge and all other electric within the apartment. It is too easy to lock yourself out on the balcony so be mindful of this if going out to dry swimwear etc.
Restaurant wise, like any all inclusive, It can be chaos. On a few occasions, they ran out of plates and bowls. The first occasion, I made do with using a saucer! Further occasions, staff were notified and within minutes, fresh plates were supplied with an apology.
A reasonable selection of food on offer with mains differing from day to day. One of the desserts my wife chose on one occasion, a pastry tart thing, unfortunately had mould in it when she had cut into it. We notified the kitchen staff who quickly removed the entire selection and again apology/appropriate action taken.
An area that can be improved here is the inaccurate labelling of what is what. There are very few labels and wrongly placed. Nothing to identify items that may contain nuts or cater for anyone else with specific intolerances.
The acoustics in the dining area could be improved as it is very loud and uncomfortable when trying to dine. Not the worst place i've experienced this but some noise cancelling panels could easily rectify this.
The pool areas and pool bar were well managed and could not find fault with them. Sunbeds are always a hot topic and yes, it is no different here. We were fortunate to be able to get a bed near the pool 8/10 times by 9am. Other 2 occasions we were back a row or two but always managed to get some shade. There were a few guests who were reportedly putting towels out at 11.30 after the entertainment had finished which might explain why those nearest the pool facing the sun were always reserved.
Activities in the day were a good mix. The Aqua Zumba has to be the cream of the crop although we had a good time participating in rifle shooting, darts, volleyball, football, foam party and entertained by the regular water polo.
Entertainment at night was a mixed bag down to personal taste. The kids mini disco is good but repetitive. The entertainment crew are just that, entertaining but in a positive way that makes it worth watching. There was a karaoke night and magician/illusionist that were superb but then there was a soul duo and other performers that were not as good.
The staff were superb, I think anyone who has been here will know Alejandro in the entertainment and he'll surely be head hunted on to bigger and better things. All in their individual ways made our experience a good one, whether it was in reception, at the bar, in the restaurant, entertainment crew, cleaning the room or maintaining the grounds. They were all courteous, welcoming and mostly bilingual.
The mosquitos! If you go unprepared, you will get bitten! Take some antihistamine and a good spray of jungle formula limits the bites.
The guests during our stay were predominantly from Germany. Not a problem and made good friends with some. Special shout out to Marko, Jana and Anna from Dortmund, Julia, Leo and Liz from Dusseldorf, Andreas (Continental) and Mike from Osnabruck. A special mention to Dennis from Denmark who was also a top bloke. Our boys did play and interact well with the other families children despite the difficulties in the language barrier. But hey, throw a ball in the mix and that is t
