Hotel Eolo in Port de Pollenca

In need of renovations, modernisations and a number of basic upgrades. Room was small, the bathroom lacked privacy to the outside world, curtains didn’t cover full windows to block out daylight, door into hallway let in a lot of light around the frame, elevator didn’t work/was very temperamental. Biggest issue was noise; soundproofing needs massively improved. You can hear everything happening in the corridor/stairwell, including people talking and the lift constantly banging, and all the noise from outside. Air conditioning unit worked well and was continuously on, which was needed! The view from the room and rooftop terrace was really lovely, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We overheard that the hotel is likely to go through a big renovation & upgrade throughout winter.

Last minute change of plan this hotel was available in our favourite resort so we booked. The hotel for us served a purpose it was generally clean and our room was cleaned everyday plus fresh towels each day. The room was bigger than the one we stayed in twice at its other hotel in the group The Capri, beds were comfortable,shower room was a good size and there was plenty of storage space plus we had a decent size balcony overlooking the road. The food for breakfast was ok nothing special although some of the hot food looked very well done! Our biggest fault were the staff none of them ever spoke to you (except the room cleaner) People on reception never said good morning or even looked up as they seemed to be to busy on their phones nobody seemed to enjoy working here as they all looked fed up which so different to the Capri where everyone was friendly, chatting and looked happy in what they were doing. Also anyone could take beach towels as nobody asks for your room number etc!! At breakfast again anyone could walk in and have breakfast and I doubt any of the staff would know as again no one asks for room numbers etc🤔Would we stay again yes we would if it was a hastily arranged holiday and if it was a future planned holiday no we wouldn't even though location was ok.

Ok so here is a lengthy review of our recent stay . First , the positives Fantastic location right in the centre . Really friendly reception. Very helpful. Strong WiFi connection. Maids will change your bed daily if you want them to. Choice of pillows . Shower is good. We were able to check in early . Now for the not so great (might seem picky but want to give a thorough overview) Rooms are very tired . (We upgraded to partial seaview) Balcony has broken tiles . Bathroom peeling doors. There are loose sheets on top of the very thin mattress protectors which end up coming away in the night (much better to have a fitted bottom sheet) . The balcony light is permanently on so light comes through the screwed up , ill fitting curtain . There are gaps around the whole of the entrance door so light floods in here too. Skirting boards and floor corners need a good clean. There is no mirror where the plug socket is & the wardrobe door , which has the full length mirror doesn’t stay open , so the only way that I could do my hair is to prop my case in front of the wardrobe door and sit on the floor . Because of its great location it’s noisy to sit on the balcony Breakfast - good selection of pastries and a small amount of fruit . No tongs to get the sliced bread out of the basket so had to use fingers . This didn’t seem fresh either . Eggs were cooked and put on a hot plate which just set the yolks hard . Beans cold and dried up . Bacon was lukewarm. All in all you get what you pay for and the room did the job but we wouldn’t return until they had a decent refurb rather than a sticking plaster over it all .
