Reviews
On a positive note, the swimming pool is amazing (22m long and 3m deep end), and the views from the upper floors are incredible - see photos. The air conditioning in the rooms is also excellent.
But those are the only good points.
Firstly, the location is at the top of an extremely steep hill and it's impossible to walk up in the summer without breaking out into an exhausting sweat. They offer a shuttle bus service but this has to be prebooked and only runs a few times a day with the last service at 7pm..so utterly useless for going out to town for evening dinner. Taxis in the town are very difficult to get and we were forced to walk back to the hotel due to booked taxis simply not turning up.
Secondly, the facilities in the rooms are the absolute bare minimum - like you'd find in a youth hostel. There is no fridge, kettle, or coffee machine so the balconies are hardly used by anyone. There isn't even a plug in the sink in case you need to do a bit of laundry (essential for those who travel light).
There was no shower soap or gel and when we asked at reception, they said we don't provide toiletries like that and you'll have to wait for the cleaners the next day. So we went without a shower for the night on the expectation that the cleaners would fill the empty shower soap dispenser the following morning. However, despite cleaning the room, they didn't replenish the soap so we had to find a supermarket and buy our own shower gel and shampoo. The shower itself is also weak with fluctuating hot and cold water.
Thirdly, that whilst the buffet breakfast is good, woe betide anyone who tries to take a croissant or fruit up to their room... They're happy to see uneaten food go in the bin rather than allow you to take food with you.
Finally, the walls are paper thin and we could hear every cough and movement of the neighbouring rooms.
In summary, if the management focused on the customer more and less on cutting every single cost, they'd have themselves a decent hotel. I just hope they make the necessary changes as outlined above.
Lovely views, good value for money with helpful & friendly staff.
Quiet atmosphere, great pool, we enjoyed our stay in Roses.
What lovely hotel !
In a stunning position on the hill overlooking Roses, Check in was easy and straightforward and the staff so helpful
our room was on the 3rd floor which we had requested for the views there is a lift to take you to all three floors and down to the lower floor where you will find the breakfast, lunch & dinning room
We only had breakfast which was a buffet breakfast, plenty of choice though
( all meals are buffet meals)
There is a bar and games room on the level lower than the dining room very steep steps down or take the lift which is just around the corner from the dining room
Which is a must when you’ve walked up and down the hill a few times into town
The do have a shuttle that goes into Roses a couple of times a day, but not always when you need it so a slow walk up and down was no problem
The pool is a beautiful asset to the hotel over looking the town and bay we used it many times
Drinks in the bar were also good and well priced we drank in here plenty of times and thoroughly enjoyed the sangria €3.50 a glass
This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location, but it is not a modern hotel like some in Roses they are making improvements
But I can not fault this hotel and I would stay again when visiting my family in Figueres
Thank you everyone at Hotel Grecs for a wonderful stay
I’m sure we’ll see you again
Lovely location, staff were great. Room was basic, bed was extremely uncomfortable. Shower fixture was very temperamental. Free breakfast was very generous, offerings could have been better however.
This could be an amazing hotel, but was let down by the comfort of the bed and the bed coverings, as well as a shower that went from 100° to 15° with no in between temperature.
