Gran Hotel Sardinero in Santander

Not happy with the cleanliness of the room. There is a mini sofa in the room for animals in which they leave in the room regardless even if you don't have pets. It's full of animal hair and and also animal hair all over the floor, it's really disgusting. Furthermore, the duvet covers... is it really hard for a hotel to find duvet covers??? It's a duvet sandwiched between two flat sheets so when sleeping all of this becomes tangled and you end up sleeping just on the duvet with sheets messed around in the bed. So all guests are essential sleeping in the same uncovered duvet which I'm sure doesn't get washed!! And a long pillow instead of 2 standard pillows... again very annoying. Lastly, outside noise! these windows are not sound proof whatsoever it's just a normal window as you would have at home, you can hear cars shutting their doors that's how bad it is, main road is extremely loud! overall not pleased at all.

The hotel cafeteria is terrible. The service is poor, the tables are dirty, and the waitresses are rude. They get annoyed if you ask for extra coffee because it means they have to walk more. The Spanish omelette pinchos were served cold, and it took them 50 minutes to bring four small portions. Avoid this place at all costs.

We stayed in a room with a sea view and a terrace, which is quite charming. However, the room itself is quite small, with hardly any space between the bedsides and the walls. If you have limited mobility, getting in and out of bed could be quite challenging.

The terrace is a major advantage, provided it doesn’t rain. If it does, you’ll be stuck in the small room. Additionally, they don’t offer umbrellas at the reception or concierge, so be sure to bring one with you during the rainy season.

The bar and restaurant don’t live up to the standard of a four-star hotel. The bar resembles a tavern, and the restaurant is located in a back room. While there are many dining options nearby, make sure to make reservations in advance.

Overall, if you prioritize the view, this hotel is a good choice. However, for other four-star amenities, you might want to consider other options. We haven’t tried their breakfast yet, so we’re looking forward to that tomorrow.
