Hotel Rec de Palau in Cadaques

Reviewed: July 18, 2024 A beautiful spot and outdoors with great swimming pools but small rooms Edit The breakfast room had spectacular view and the decor was tastefully done. The swimming pools were lovely Shower was very good The rooms were clean- and were regularly cleaned and fresh towels were placed in the room We got a bottle of local wine as a gift at check out -We were refused to change room in a larger room as a new friend joined us, and we were told that no change was allowed. The same hotel if booked from ******* was fully flexible until a short time before checkin date. This created a major problem for us as we had to find another room in a different hotel for our sister. And because of it we had to go back and forth on a very rough and long path that passed mountains and narrow streets filled with pedestrians several times a day. -Our room was extremely small with a closet that had room for six hangers. Of note, we had paid for the room for seven nights for two ladies. therefore, our clothes were all over the chairs and on our suitcases, photo attached. -The parking rate was listed as 10 euros per night but when we got there the price had increased to 15 euros per night -The breakfast was mediocre at best. while the serving staff were nice, the croissants were soft and soggy, and the coffee was tasteless, while the amount was plenty. Jam and butter came in tiny containers and had no authenticity. - The property had a bad smell upon arrival and when asked it turned out that the hotel management had some air freshener that was quite unpleasant. -Our windows had no screens and mosquitoes were plenty, so despite our wish, we had to sleep in that tiny room with windows closed and air condition on!

Sadly this beautiful place leaves much to desire it’s completely neglected by the owners ! The pools are filthy and not useable and weeds everywhere It’s sad as you can see it could be great ? I think the owners have lost the plot Why they don’t update this place is beyond me ..the WiFi doesn’t work except in garden the APLLIANCES. IN ROOMS SO DATED THEY WENT OUT WITN TNE ark no luxury soaps no water or coffee in rooms I mean seriously have they lost the plot … made me laugh out loud the washing machine
