Hotel Cala Joncols in Roses

Early April at Cala Jóncols was wonderfully calm, with a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful natural surroundings and no crowds. Great food. Friendly, welcoming me and my dog.

Unique and fabulous hotel. Stopped here on our hiking holiday and it was like arriving in paradise! Restaurant food was amazing, lovely swimming pool and very friendly staff. We hired canoes to explore the nearby coast. They have their own vineyard and the wine is for sale, some bottles are matured under the sea! A very special place right by the most beautiful secluded beach.

One of the best experiences in all of costa brava. The location, the staff (Michael was amazing), the food was also incredible. The hiking trails around the property were also amazing!

Delightful hotel on its own (pebbled) bay far from the madding crowd, and set in beautiful gardens containing a sheltered pool. Charming staff and the best food on demi pension that we’ve ever had. We liked the simple but stylish decor of our room, the great view from our balcony, and lunch in the garden. (The WiFi is not great, I would have liked more fruit options at breakfast, and somewhere to shower before leaving after a day at the beach).

We stayed at this hotel at pre season - mid of May 2022. And this place is really amazing! If you intend to drive there, you should not trust GPS Navigation - you will get lost - as we did. Better to ask front desk for guidance - or for a SUV or Boat transfer to the hotel. The access road is unpaved and rough. We booked a room with balcony and free view to the wonderful bay. At our stay we did not use any boat or diving experience. We enjoyed the very quiet environment of this beauty of a hotel. And do not forget to enjoy the Hotel kitchen. Plates are just great! Seafood and fish are prepared carefully at Catalan style. For meat lovers - ask Michael for the meet of the day. He will probably offer you a great piece of beef, cooked 24 hours on low temperature. As a long standing Prime Rib lover, I was amazed about this plate. Unbeatable!

Hotel Cala Joncols must be the most beautiful and isolated hotel in Catalunya. If you are looking for somewhere unique and quiet, this is the place. The location, room, food and service exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend getting the full pension (breakfast, lunch and dinner included) as the food is outstanding, its a really good value for money (and the closest restaurant is a 20-min walk away).

To get there: do not follow the GPS (especially coming from Cadaques), follow the hotel’s instructions (drive through Roses). It’s a dirt road for 30mins, landscapes are beautiful and the end destination is so worth it.
