Hotel Montes was an incredible experience. I rarely write reviews, and felt compelled to do so given my experience.
I visited during a non-holiday in the fall months, so the weather was much cooler. We stayed in a room facing the street and restaurant which provided an incredible view. Hotel staff were extremely friendly too.
I am reading the 1-star reviews and laughing to myself as my experience...
Lovely large room overlooking a busy square. The room was one of the larger we have had as we tour northern Spain. Nice washroom with shower, comfy bed, and a modern renovated room. The balcony had french doors that opened to the town square that let the lively street vibe in. A short walk to the Cathedral and all of the old town made this an ideal location for our visit. A bit more pricey than other...
We received a warm and friendly welcome at Hotel Montes. The location couldn’t be better: right in the middle of Santiago’s vibrant old town, just a few steps from the cathedral. Breakfast was fine, the coffee especially good. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Santiago de Compostela!
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I've been to a few places and I'm willing to make compromises between advertising and reality. So when I booked my stay I was ready to make those compromises on arrival at the hotel. I don't know how to express the sheer joy of what I found. From the minute I fronted up to the reception desk I felt at home. Then I got to my room and I was blown away...
5 stars, very beautiful and pleasant place, the entire surrounding area is of great architectural value, it is well worth visiting and enjoying all the serenity experienced in that place, I had already been there and hope to return. good trip to do with family and friends
The hotel is very centrally located, close to Plaza de Obradoiro and the Cathedral. The receptionist was very friendly. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The hotel in general is very charming. The pillows were too soft for my taste, and they forgot to refill the shower gel. Breakfast was average. Overall, it was good value for money.

Excellent three night stay in this beautifully restored centrally located granite town house. Fernando and his father José are delightful hosts and very helpful. The hotel is spotless and beds very comfy. Do expect some usual busy city centre nighttime noise. Subsidised parking east in the nearby underground car park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
So nice we didn’t want to leave. Excellent service. Beautiful, clean rooms. Right in the heart of the historical area. The rooms were so comfortable and unique. Lots if bars and restaurants nearby.
The stay here at Puerta Gamboa was above expectation. Fernando made sure that our stay was fantastic and I could not recommend this place higher. The room was well done, clean and the entire place is clearly well looked after. The bed was firm as you would expect and I was happy to see memory foam pillows. The location was perfect to walk the old town and the waterfront. If our travels ever bring...
Fantastic location in the old city center. Clever use of space to provide modern comfort and amenities in an old building. Family-owned. Friendly staff, very happy to share tourism information as well as the local culture and economy. Elevator in the building functions perfectly.
My wife and I had a wonderful two day stay at the Hotel Puerta Gamboa two weeks ago. The hotel is very nice with a great location, close to the marina and the old parts of the City. The room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. What really separates this hotel from others is the owners, Fernando and his father. They are ever-present and can't do enough to make sure you have a wonderful...
We loved our time in the hotel ! My husband and I are cycling the Camino and they made accommodations to store our tandem traveling bike. It’s a family owned hotel and you feel very welcomed from the father and son. Our breakfast was fresh and delicious.

the rooms are very clean and cozy. Really comfy beds and silent during the night. The location is great and the owner + entire team is really welcoming and friendly.
Great stay for a break day after the Camino (apprx 900KM) before catching a flight to Madrid. Clean and closed to the cathedral and places to eat.
Quiet lil room on third floor. Very cozy staff were excellent. The fan in room did not work though. Luckily weather did not require
Got this room through the booking agency we used for the camino. It’s a nice enough hotel but more than a bit tired. Coffee at breakfast was good but the rest was mediocre. The beds are not comfortable…by far the worst of our trip. It’s close to the old town but I’m sure there are better places for the price. Would not choose this place.
A nice stone building with modern styled reception and rooms. This gives a nice atmosphere.
Little breakfast cafe area and a basement restaurant.
Very close to the old centre with lots of restaurants, cafes and beautiful streets.
The Cathedral is about a 10min walk.
I found the location very good and the airport bus route passes the door.
At only €1pp per trip it's great value.
I loved my stay here, for the price I think it's good value.. my attic room was rustic and large with three single beds in it, so plenty of space for up to three people.. having a bath was also a luxury I wasn't expecting and was very pleased to indulge in.. being just outside of the main old town, it's close to a great street for restaurants a park area and a short walk (15min) to the train/bus station...

Perfect localisation, perfect room ( ask for 2 or 3th floor: less noise from the street)

Centrally located just a few meters from the old town and close to beaches this competitively priced hotel was ideal for a few nights in Galicia. Good transport options to local towns e g Santiago d C and Ferrol
Very small and slightly querky. Great for a few days, but too small for longer stays. Breakfast and restaurant were super. A very friendly and a nice place to stay. Free WiFi worked perfect for our group. Ear plugs maybe for light sleepers as very old building without noise isolation
IT IS SITUATED CLOSE TO THE RESTAURANTS, NEAR CAR PARK AND NEXT TO THE DOWNTOWN
Great location downtown, big public parking nearby, easy check in and pleasant and clean. Great stay, great value!
Very recommended in A Coruña
Great location near many good restaurants and the beach. The staff very friendly and the room is comfortable.

simple check in from a friendly member of staff, lifts to all floors.my room(41)was of a good size if a bit old fashioned but clean and tidy with a comfy double bed, good size bathroom.although i didn't try the restaurant this hotel also has a bar and considering it's set on a quiet street it's a great place to relax. this hotel is a short walk to discover what padron has to offer and a short walk off...
The food was extraordinary! Truly a hommage to the pilgrims! The chef was very kind and he lived up to the expectations! 10/10 would come back to eat here!
Not a bad place. A bit outdated yet very clean and with charm. I booked a double bed room. I didn't try the restaurant. Allowed me a good night sleep. I have to say that when my noisy neighbors were talking loud, I could hear it, but fortunately they slept early ☺️ Bed is comfortable with nice clean sheets. Close to a Dia Supermarket. Person at reception was very nice. Given the offer in that place...
Just brilliant value, really nice quiet room. Should have tried the attached restaurant which looked nice. Very helpful lady running the reception.
Pleasantly surprised how good the evening meal was, really good. Best dinner of the trip 🎉 Excellent food and wonderful waitress service, yes the rooms are tired but they were are spotless. Didn’t stay for breakfast as up and out early. Bon Camino
Great hotel and central location. We stayed here whilst walking the Camino and decided to have dinner here too. My husband had the pilgrim menu (4courses) for €18, it was like a meal from master chef and buy far the nicest pilgrim menu. I am a gluten free vegetarian and has the Padron peppers, gluten free bread, vegetable rice and the sorbet, again my meal was also delicious and fabulous. I would...

Superb location close to all attractions and a superb restaurant next door. Comfy high end furnishings. Great character and vibe altogether. The breakfast is very basic though.
Great hospitality - all three reception staff (different shifts), were great at welcoming, conversation and all were very helpful. Location is close to the park and to the centre. Rear facing bedroom had a fantastic view of the cathedral. Despite really hot weather (32c), the room was cool and had a great fan. Breakfast extra, but really good homemade bread with cold meats, cheese, fruit and cereals...
This hotel is a beautiful and charming boutique hotel located just on the edge of the old town in Santiago de Compostela. Rims are stunning and full of charm with exposed stone and tasteful decor. The bathroom was spacious and modern with a waterfall shower and a hairdryer was provided. For a small extra charge the hotel offers continental breakfast which included cereals, crusty bread, freshly squeezed...
After the Camino, all I needed was a hot shower and a soft bed.
But this small, cozy hotel exceeded my expectations.
It’s close to all the main spots, with a clean, comfortable room and a great bathroom — the tropical shower was amazing (if you’ve stayed in small hotels, you know how rare that is!).
The perfect final stop after the Camino.
And falling asleep to such an incredible view? Absolutely priceless
This is a small but perfectly formed hotel, right in the heart of the city. Whilst there is no bar, it has everything a budget hotel can offer, including fantastic views of the Cathedral. I’m writing this short review from my stay last year, as I’m about to rebook the hotel this summer again.
We stayed 2 nights having completed our Camino. Unfortunately we didn't get a room with a cathedral view but our room was a good size with a good sized bathroom. There's no air conditioning but the room did have a fan. We had breakfast each morning which was ok but not the variety we experienced in other hotels. The best thing about the hotel is it's location. It is central to all areas we visited...

The hotel is nice, clean, and in a great location. Really convenient and comfortable stay.
Good
It was a shame the bar was closed on New Year's Eve
A good place, very closed to Vigo cruise Terminal and well served from public transport. This hotel has the best position to join on board of your cruise and, if possible to travel around Vigo's center.
The hotel staff was very helpful.
The hotel location is excellent.
The room and bathroom were clean.
But the hotel needs a "deep facelift."
The hotel facade was very dirty and neglected.
The hotel window frames must have been 40 years old.
In the bathroom, the bathtub, sink and toilet were also noticeably old.
The location is great, however the amenities might be better. Breakfast was just Ok and could be a bit better
Air conditioning was working very poorly
There was a smell of “old” every where and in the room.
Room spacious.
Clean.

The best things about this hotel are the location and excellent breakfasts at the cafe just next door that can be included in your rates. The hotel itself is very expensive for what it is. The room was comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was very good, superb croissants.
Hospitality was also outstanding. Surely my primary choice for the next time.
Also, the hotel re-opened very recently (early July 2024) that's why there are almost no reviews.
Thanks to the staff.
Excellent location. Very friendly reception staff with great English and super helpful. Nice cafe attached which serves very nice b'fast. Very clean.
Great place with friendly staff, a good breakfast and clean, comfy rooms. The only problem we had was noisy guests who I think started a marching band in the corridor outside our room. 😁
This was the perfect place to go after completing the pilgrimage. Wonderful staff, perfect location and a welcome hot shower!
Stayed for one month. Treated well by all of the staff. Both B&B and Restaurant are worthwhile. Friendly and Helpful. Would stay again. Make sure you try the Orange Cake🍰

Got newly renovated room with a balcony
For incredibly good rate fresh sheets towels etc
Cannot fault the hotel on anything

Good location in Vigo, but the hostel doesn’t have any common areas. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to gather your things in the morning without being too loud. There is also no kitchen. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, and there were curtains on the bunks. Only complaint was the lack of common area really.
Clean comfortable stay at Hotel Nautico: comfortable bed, great location just near the harbour. The service at reception was fantastic, I was very grateful for the tips and advice they offered into the local area
For the offered commodities this place isn't expensive at all. The room for two where we stayed was tiny, but comfortable. For the price (30e individual bed) not bad (better than an hostel). They provided a place for my motorcycle so that was nice. The room was a bit loud in the morning (next to the street). Really helpful communication with the hotel, room was very spacious and clean. It’s also quiet if you’re looking to rest after a Camino! It is a good 15 - 20 min walk to the centre, once I found the location it was fine for me. Thumbs up for this place, excellent value 👍
This is a very reasonably priced hotel for folks wanting to go to Santiago, but don’t want to spend a lot of money! Hotel Santa Clara in Santiago de Compostela was a highlight of my visit. Situated directly across the street from a centuries-old convent, the location is steeped in history and quiet charm, yet just a short stroll from the cathedral and city center.
The rooms are modern, spotless, and thoughtfully arranged. While it’s worth noting that there is no air conditioning, my stay was still quite pleasant...
The biggest selling point of this hotel is the close proximity to the bus stop where people can catch the local bus all the way to the Santiago airport. The bus stop is 2 minute walk from the hotel. The bus fare is €1 per passenger. Amazing. This hotel is a self checked in hotel. It is not too complicated. A lady did showed up the next morning to serve breakfast. The breakfast is good and not too...
Thanks for the warm welcome :) it was perfect to relax after the Camino. Very friendly service! The breakfast was good. The room was small, but Santiago is a busy and expensive place. The only thing I didn’t like was the sink. The water did only slowly exit the sink, so after brushing teeth or shaving it was a mess.
This is a place very close to the cathedral. Bea and the owner host me very well. Rooms are very clean. The breakfast buffet is very complete
Nice hotel, good hot water, windows cut out noise, bar & breakfast available, location pretty good but might have liked slightly closer to centre, still only 10-15 walk. Fan not aircon, but Santiago usually isn't too hot so fan is fine.
Great location and staff. Room was a bit lackluster but had everything I needed at a reasonable price. Staff were very accommodating and common areas were bright and spacious.
