The hotel is situated at the foot of the famous mountain Sanjeewani and is an inspiring place for artists, writers or anyone seeking a relaxing holiday in the sun. It was built in 1735 by Dutch Governor. Colonial style surrounded by lush greenery, comfortable rooms and excellent cuisine are a short walk from the world famous Unawatuna beach and 5 km from the Galle fortress which is a world heritage site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia.

Drinks should be served at the same time for four persons.1st one finished & others still waiting .Drinks were perfectly done & tasty. Very friendly crew .This is just a feedback for the crew to learn .Thank you all & a beautiful Nooit gedacht !

We stayed in a budget room, which suited us fine. It was air-conditioned and had a small terrace we could sit out on. An advantage of the budget rooms is that they are near the restaurant so you get full strength Wi-Fi in them. The building and gardens offered a fabulous oasis in a rather over developed and busy resort. The pool was big and there were sufficient sun loungers most of the time but no matter what time I chose for my morning swim between 7 and 10 it was always closed for cleaning. We were very disappointed in the breakfast, as it was put out at 7.30 and , as far as we could see, was not then replenished. We ended up having to get up earlier than we would normally do on holiday just to take advantage of the breakfast we had paid for. The staff were friendly and helpful but could have understood their jobs better. For example, there wasn’t a morning when we didn’t have to gather cutlery from other tables before we could eat our breakfast. I’m glad I stayed there but would not do so again.

This place is stunning in terms of the substance and beauty of the building and garden. And the peace that it offers in the midst of the Moscow suburb that is the rest of Unawatuna was fantastic. The staff were kind, helpful and attentive but could do with a little more management guidance . The breakfasts were limited and offered little choice. Although great efforts were made the hotel does suffer from bitting insects. You will enjoy this place with good quality mozzie coils.

Wow the hotel is more of heritage been frozen in times. Good place with all the modern amenities. Peaceful place for family and friends. Lot of mosquitoes but that’s not their problem, carry mosquito repellants with you. Good food and pool to relax.

Our aircondition didn’t work and several employees had to see it was not working and did’nt do anything about it and we had to contact our travel agency before we got a similar room….. where the aircondition works. We will never stay here again!

I had a lovely stay; the location is super, the staff very friendly, good breakfast & lovely pool! The oasis of the garden offers a quiet break from the busy town & streets. Walking distance from the restaurants, beach, supermarket & shops. I would not hesitate to book again!

The nature is very wild in this place and you will be able to see a lot of animals in the garden. The service was fine. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes and flies, so you would want to have mosquito spray close by. We had chipmunks, monkeys, peacocks and lizards close to our room. The pool and garden were just fine. The hotel of older age, but with a lot of special charm from this fact and the dark wooden furniture.

Nice hotel in a very nice little village on the beach. Plenty of cosy corners where you can relax. We stayed in a spacious room with a nice balcony overlooking the garden. Very quite environment just few steps away from the restaurants/bar/shops area. The beach is also very near, 8-10 minutes walking away.

We rested in this wonderful place from May 25 to June 5, 2022 as a family of 2 adults and 1 child. We have traveled a lot around the world, but this is one of the best places and experiences. The villa is perfectly integrated into the jungle, on the territory you can see monkeys, monitor lizards, chipmunks. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well refurbished. Nice pool, cleaned every day. Very good cuisine. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Also, often we ordered lunch, very tasty. The owner of the villa personally, at our request, gave us an interesting tour. During the period of Dutch colonization, this villa belonged to the Dutch governor, and much has been preserved since those times. We really want to come back to this place again. Highly recommend the villa for a visit, it's a real pleasure.
