Reviews
Cons: - we had issue with the shower in the original duplex suite. No hot water at the upper floor. They changed another 2 rooms for us. The water pressure could be still better. - Mosquito issue but they also offered the electrified mosquito repellent. The situation getting better. - the room condition is a bit aged compared to what we expected.
Although the hotel is on the beach, there are no rooms with a sea view because all the buildings are at some small distance behind the trees. There are rooms with direct access to a big pool. We chose, however, the room on the second floor, which is a bit cheaper and provides more privacy from our point of view. The rooms are very spacious and include a bedroom and a living room separated by the bathroom space. It includes the shower behind the glass walls and a big separate bathtub for two. We appreciate very much that we had a kettle and a fridge in the room. Bathrobes and plastic slippers were also provided. The only problem was that the slippers were used already.
Only one key from the room is provided. It is a regular key with a room number tag on it. The safe is also equipped with a regular key. This is not like in many hotels, where the door is opened with the card, and the safe is opened with the code. This creates some inconvenience because it is not clear what to do with these keys when going swimming. One solution is to return them to the reception every time, but this is a bit annoying. Another solution is to disconnect the room number tag from the key; in this case, it can be taken to the beach and left there.
We had the option of breakfast and dinner. This is a good option because we have a chance to explore nearby restaurants for lunch. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety of domestic and international food. The choice for dinner was smaller, but everything was good and tasty. The only problem was that our dinner did not include drinks. There was live music at night every day.
We had a fantastic dinner for Christmas and New Year. The drinks, however, had to be bought separately. It was funny and strange that the staff started the cleanup at 10 pm on New Year's night. The food was removed, and the tables were being cleaned up. We saw that a couple went to the bathroom and did not find their table when they came back.
The internet was everywhere in the hotel territory, not fast, but acceptable.
Overall, we liked this place. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is friendly, the food is good, and the sea is beautiful. We think that this is a good place for families with children.
The resort is beautifully laid out, with generous villas, lush tropical gardens, and a beach that is so calm and well-mannered it appears to have been trained. Everything is spacious, unhurried, and quietly confident—rather like a very polite elephant.
The staff are absurdly kind and efficient. They smile, they help, they remember your name, and they do it all without the faintest hint of desperation. One gets the unsettling impression that they actually enjoy their jobs, which is deeply unfair to the rest of the world.
Now, let us address the Cheekee 2-for-1 drink deals, which are less a promotion and more a cunning social experiment. You arrive thinking, “I’ll just have one.” Moments later, you are presented with two. This continues until sunset feels personally meaningful and you begin describing strangers as “marvellous people.” Cheekee adds a cheerful liveliness to the evenings, and the deals make you feel both triumphant and slightly irresponsible—an ideal holiday combination.
And then there are the varan—the monitor lizards—ambling about the resort with the calm authority of creatures who were here long before you and will still be here long after you’ve returned to your inbox. They are enormous, prehistoric, and entirely uninterested in your existence. After the initial shock (“Good Lord, is that allowed?”), they become oddly comforting, like scaly reminders that nature is very much in charge and doesn’t require your opinion.
The beach is magnificent: soft sand, gentle waves, and sunsets so dramatic they seem to demand applause. It is a place designed for walking slowly, thinking vaguely, and ordering another drink purely because it’s still 2-for-1.
In conclusion, Chada Lanta Beach Resort is elegant without being pretentious, relaxed without being lazy, and delightfully strange in the best possible way. Between the excellent service, the dangerous generosity of Cheekee’s drinks, and the occasional wandering dinosaur, it delivers a holiday that is both soothing and faintly absurd.
Which, frankly, is perfection.
1. Check-in requires a cash deposit or logging your credit card details.
2. The bedding was genuinely damp. I thought it might be typical for a seaside location, but other hotels, even with sea view rooms, weren't nearly as damp.
3. Upon check-in, the bedding looked really old and worn, like it was long overdue for an update.
4. Razors and similar amenities are not standard; you have to ask for them. This room type has no elevator, and while it's only up to the third floor, it's quite a trek.
5. The poolside area and happy hour by the sea are nice.
Compared to the Double Lotus (four-star) hotels nearby, they are significantly better than this one.
