Box Hostel N Cafe in Chiang Mai City

We've just been to restaurant on ground floor here and haven't rented a room. Food and service were fantastic. The overall ambience makes it very special – the first floor functions as a gallery for example and you can watch them cook outside, just like in a classical Thai street food stall, the inside however is closed off, so it's calm and doesn't stink with less air pollution from the street. We've been there at night and the atmosphere of street and kitchen outside and the nice and clean inside really pays off.

Slightly out of the way location-wise but extremely good value for a comfortable stay. One of the nicer sleeps I’ve had in weeks and a private room was very cheap for a one-night stay. Highly recommend if you’re looking to get away from social hostels for a night

Locations of it out the way, but the vibes and the food are very good. And it's not that far, get a grab, or if you have a scooter, you can make your own way. I wanted something relaxed, and this is what I found so it's perfect.

A little compact but almost perfect hostel. Sleeping experience is good, a/c, curtains, lockers, shower, toilet, free coffee/water all top notch. The lady in charge Ohm is sweet and very helpful. It's a shame there is no guest discount on the ground floor restaurant/ coffee shop as it's great but expensive for a budget traveller. Highly recommended overall.

High quality, high value hostel. Safe, clean, and good location in a trendy neighbourhood. Food in the cafe on the first floor is good too and the proprietor is super nice and friendly.

This hostel is great. The staff is really nice. It's perfectly clean. There's a full kitchen for use down stairs, a coffee shop, good free breakfast in the morning they cook on order, designed very cute, and conveniently located Right next to a mall and a major road that doesn't cause noise pollution but does offer a quick way to grab a red truck to anywhere in the city.

This hostel has great facilities and a great location in between the Nimman and 'Old city' precincts of Chiang Mai. Each bed has a light and powerpoint for charging your electronics and a black curtain which gives you excellent privacy for a hostel. Air conditioning worked very well but room also has a rotating fan. Showers have complementary shampoo and soap dispensers which is great but sinks down have soap which seems like an oversight. Breakfast was nice with your fried egg cooked in a cute little pan by the staff and the jams perfectly laid out on the table. Staff were nice in general, although I didn't see much of them as I don' think they're around in the evening. I didn't eat at the coffee shop / cafe downstairs so can't comment on that. The vibe is very much about a comfortable stay rather than creating a party or up beat atmosphere. Part of that is due to it being pretty quiet (at least while I was there) and part I think because they don't allow alcohol.
