Reviews
Food good lots of choice
Rooms clean a bit dated is places but refurb work ongoing. Fun was had by all
On arrival to the room, there were half-empty bottles of water left behind from previous guests, no toilet roll, and no towels provided. This immediately raised concerns about cleanliness and room preparation.
By Wednesday afternoon, I became seriously unwell with gastrointestinal symptoms. From that point on, I spent almost the entire holiday confined to my room, unable to eat at all, repeatedly needing the toilet, and feeling extremely unwell. This continued every day until departure the following Monday.
I strongly believe I became ill from the food, which was never served piping hot and was often lukewarm, making it unsafe to eat.
Despite being clearly and visibly ill:
No doctor was arranged
No medical assistance was offered
No welfare checks were made
I was left to cope alone while sick in a foreign country
On the day of departure, I explained that I was still actively unwell and physically struggling. Nevertheless, I was forced to vacate the room and told I would need to pay £60 for a short room extension, which felt completely unreasonable given my condition. No alternative space was offered for me to rest or sit comfortably while waiting for my transfer.
I was left sitting in the lobby while ill, with little to no compassion or understanding shown, which added significant stress and discomfort to an already frightening situation.
After returning to the UK, I was rushed to hospital, where I required 2 litres of IV fluids and pain relief, and was diagnosed with a traveller’s infection and dehydration. This confirmed that my illness was serious and not minor.
This experience was total hell for me. It was my first time in Tunisia, and from the care I received at this hotel, I never want to go back there again. They have completely put me off visiting Tunisia.
While illness can happen anywhere, how a hotel responds matters greatly, particularly at an all-inclusive resort catering to international guests. In this case, the lack of hygiene on arrival, unsafe food, and the absence of medical support and basic empathy when I became ill, made an already distressing situation far worse.
I would strongly advise future guests to carefully consider how they might be supported if they became unwell during their stay.
Spending New year in Greeks island or Canaries would require to multiply our price X3
Not a massive choice off food yes but it's enough for majority and always taste and fresh. More than enough to keep us all happy.
Beds are really so so good, very comfy, and guest rooms cleaned daily.
Hotel situated in peaceful location , just outside off town centre, very nice and extremely well maintained garden.
We had a good and quality time in Tunisia.
Unfortunately outside your room Tunisia in general screams for a deep clean.
Hotel Staff are there for the job but not so keen on cleaning or raising standards, I noticed it could be in there coulture.
We noticed lots off rubbish thrown out everywhere even the beach outside hotel.
Management doing there bits right as you see bored cleaners here and there but unfortunately they not doing it right in return.
If the price next year stay same or on similar level we will definitely return to Occidental Marhaba.
1. The snacks in the day after the buffet dinner has finished are absolutely terrierible. Cold greasy chips, tomato sauce and cucumber sandwiches and cold turkey fingers. Please do better! The deserts and ice cream were great but when you're coming in from travelling for hours and you've missed dinner you'd hope to have a bit better than this. It's basically inedible!
2. As we visited in winter we went to try out the indoor pool but it was in need of a good scrub down. The floor was covered in grey dirty water and the pool tiles were tiny so it's obviously hard to keep up with keeping it clean and so the grout was pretty gross. I would recommend redoing the pool with larger tiles so it's easier to keep clean. Also it says it's a heated pool but it's pretty cold in my opinion
Other than this the hotel is great, it's spacious, clean and very beautiful.
Never had issues finding a spot at the table to eat, never had issues finding a spot on the beach, good location close to the city, easy to get around. Lovely people of Tunisia, we had a great time at Occidental.
Rubbish dinner on the first night brought to our room. (we arrived after restaurant was closed)
No bed for my 6 year old son, even tho he was booked in. They sorted out after we complained.
Phone from our room was not working.
Restaurant food bad quality (really bad) and drinks even worse.
Really small glasses for drinks.
Not available plates for dinner when Restaurant gets busy.
Bar for drinks at pool and beach open one hour later than what they schedule.
No toboggan available even though it was advertised.
If you decide to go to the beach, you will find lots of people trying hard to sell you lots of different things.
Really loud music by the pool all day long until late. At least 11pm. If you decide to go to bed nice and early, you will be in trouble due the music.
Nice hotel, old fashion stile. Always clean, but a bit of love was needed.
Before my arrival, i sent a number of emails regarding my booking and they never replyed.
I do not recommend this hotel at all.

BEFORE it was a pizzeria that is held by an Italian, BUT since the recent change of manager, it became NULL !!
We were there as a family, we ordered pizza. Already, before the taste of the pizza had a weird-looking : a kind of white sauce on it with a texture watery. Appearance and taste similar to those of a béchamel sauce but no mozzarella. We called the manager but he has done everything to assert that this is the mozzarella.
So we asked him to go and see the tray where the pizzaiolio take this "mozzarella" , we were in the kitchen and pulled it out of the fridge (and not one of the bins of ingredients) mozzarella is totally packed, not opened !
It is amazing all the same not to apologize and be dishonest. It should be noted that this white sauce weird replacing the cheese has led to pain in the belly.
