Mira Hotel Küçükyalı in Izmir

Definitely not. Never again. And I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are disgusting. Everything is done very poorly, not high quality, the design of the rooms sucks, everything is very poorly thought out. The breakfast is terrible, extra poor. This is a terrible hotel.

❌ CONS:
1st room (and lobby) smelled like cigarette smoke. 2nd room did also smell of smoke but not as bad.
-2nd room jacuzzi didn’t work but we didn’t use it
-1st room ceiling showed water damage on ceiling, parts coming down on bed and pillows, blinds also on ground in 1st room near jacuzzi
-1 thin blanket with no top/flat sheet
-No security lock on inside (busted off), room has deadbolt with key but someone w key can still get inside
-2nd room shower was moldy, dark and showed water damage on ceiling. Faucet, detachable head and rain head all on @ same time, knob didn’t work to turn any of them off

PROS
-Staff friendly and communicative, offered to move us rooms even though 2nd room wasn’t much better
-Spacious, great views, microwave w fridge and sink
-Great coffee place down street (Art Tattoo Coffee) for great iced coffee, great little bakery also called Yalı Unlu Mamulleri that was open 24 hours
-Extra pillows in room, elevator always worked

Overall, the pros do NOT outweigh the cons. Wouldn’t recommend this place until they can make some fixes on their property and remove the cigarette smell from the lobby and especially the rooms.

CONS:
❌ 1st room (and lobby) smelled like cigarette smoke. 2nd room did also smell of smoke but not as bad.
❌ 1st room we were offered had brown (probably water damage) on the ceiling (see photos) and was flaking off onto the floor and bed pillows (see photos). 1st room also had blinds near the jacuzzi that were completely off and laying on the ground (see photo).
❌ Both rooms had wall AC units in the living area that didn’t seem to reach the sleeping area due to a wall separating the two spaces. So the bed area never really cooled down too much.
❌ Both rooms only had 1 sheet covering the mattress, no top sheet/flat sheet and just a thin scratchy blanket to cover up with, even though my husband never used this because it was so hot to sleep at night anyhow
❌ 2nd room shower was extremely moldy, water damage on the ceiling and VERY dark inside the shower area. Rain head shower looked like it was about to fall off the wall and was placed very low on the wall. Also, there’s a knob that turns the water from the spout to the rain head to the detachable head and the knob never seemed to work properly. All 3 were usually on at different pressures no matter where you placed the knob.
❌ Noise from the busy street might bother some, but it didn’t bother us. There was a yippy dog barking on nights 2 and 3 coming from either the street or the 1st floor but it didn’t keep us up.
❌ Mattress felt like both of us were rolling towards the center as if it had a dip in the middle
❌ We are very safety conscientious when traveling and found it odd that the safety swing lock on the door was knocked off. Thankfully, my husband brings a door stop that we use on the other side of the door. The door itself does lock with a deadbolt but it requires the key, meaning someone else with the key can still get into your room.
❌ Jacuzzi tub didn’t work in 2nd room, even though we didn’t use it

PROS:
✅ Staff was responsive with communication and did offer to let us see a different room when we complained about our 1st room
✅ Extra bed pillows in both rooms and the bed was a king size despite us booking a double, definitely prefer the king size
✅ Great views of the sea and the room itself is LARGE with 2 seating areas and a kitchenette that weren’t described in the booking. Bathroom itself is also very large.
✅ Mattress was comfortable but I can see some people saying it’s too soft.
✅ Kitchenette had a hot water pot with coffee and sugar and glasses. At first I found it odd that it had no plastic ware or anything beyond glasses but since it didn’t have a cooktop, it probably makes sense that it doesn’t have anything beyond making coffee and storing stuff in the fridge. It also had a microwave and lots of storage shelves.
✅ There is a small bakery right down the street that was FANTASTIC. It was called Yalı Unlu Mamulleri and according to google maps it is open 24 hours. Not sure if that was correct but it was open at around 7-7:15 in the morning when nothing else was around here. Great little bakery. There’s also a great coffee shop down the street about 5-10 minutes with amazing iced coffee. It was cold Art Tattoo Coffee.
