Reviews
We had already stayed at Wyndham Old City Istanbul two days earlier before flying to Cappadocia. Our return booking was fully paid and confirmed. We even double-checked before checking out, and the staff assured us our next stay was guaranteed. After our flight back was delayed, we arrived at the hotel at 1 AM completely exhausted, only to be told that our room was not confirmed. They had cancelled our reservation at the last minute and were overbooked.
The receptionist, Murad, was rude, cold, and completely without manners. Instead of helping or apologizing, he spoke to us as if we were the problem. This man should not be working in hospitality. Standing there in the middle of the night, with luggage in hand, being denied our fully paid room was beyond humiliating.
To make it worse, the concierge Mustafa broke one of our bags while taking it out of the taxi. When confronted, he denied it. When we asked to meet the manager, they refused and said “We will pay you.” As if throwing money at guests fixes broken service, broken trust, and broken luggage. It was insulting and deeply demeaning.
This hotel has zero respect for guests. No professionalism, no accountability, no empathy. What happened to us was a disgrace. Wyndham should be ashamed to have its name on this property. I would never come back, and I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to stay far away. You will regret it.
Wyndham Old City Istanbul should be ashamed to call this “hospitality.
Booked a long weekend in Istanbul and stayed at this hotel. We booked an upgrade with jacuzzi but got a basic room in the cellar, two floors down from ground level. No natural light or air. Hated every single second at this hotel. No restaurant open inside hotel. Room service was effectively a man on a moped turning up with cold food!!! Breakfast was served inside the hotel. It felt like all the staff members had been told to push the trips available. The bar was a rip off. The only positive from the underground room, was that it was cleaned when we pushed the button!!
I stayed here with my wife and 4-year-old child from 15–25 September 2025, and what we went through was completely unacceptable for a hotel carrying the Wyndham brand.
1. Unsafe and unhealthy rooms – We were first placed in a basement level –2 room with no windows, no fresh air, and broken air conditioning. At night, there was often no air circulation at all, which is dangerous, especially with a child. The jacuzzi in the room was broken with exposed electrical wiring, a serious safety hazard. After I reported it, they “fixed” it, but the pipes released dirty water. Later, when we were moved to a different room, the shower head was broken there too.
2. Indoor pool closed for the entire 10 days – One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was the advertised indoor pool for family use. It was closed the entire time of our stay. The outdoor pool was not a solution: the water was cold, birds were flying inside it, and even cats were drinking from it. This is disgusting and clearly unhygienic.
3. Disturbance at 4:00 AM – One night, at 4:00 in the morning, we were suddenly woken up by a call from reception. When I called back, the administrator shockingly answered, “What do you want, what is the problem?” Waking up a family in deep sleep for no reason at all shows a complete lack of professionalism.
4. No resolution, no responsibility – I raised these issues repeatedly. The hotel admitted the pool closure was due to an external sewer problem but offered no proper compensation. Instead, they tried to offer a hammam session as if that would replace a 10-day closed pool. When I requested a refund, they told me to “contact my booking agency” and stopped responding to my messages.
This hotel is unsafe, unsanitary, and mismanaged. The staff are unprofessional, and management avoids responsibility instead of solving problems. Wyndham should be ashamed to put their name on this property.
We had a wonderful experience! The hotel is close to all main attractions and the spa was a great bonus. Many thanks to the Guest Relations Manager for arranging everything perfectly.
Excellent service and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was nice and the staff were very kind. A big thank-you to the Guest Relations Manager for the warm welcome and support during our stay.
I had an unforgettable experience staying at the Wyndham Istanbul Old City. From the moment I walked in, I felt the warm hospitality of the staff. They were incredibly welcoming, and check-in was a breeze. The hotel itself is located in an ideal spot — right in the heart of Sultanahmet, so it’s super close to major attractions like the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Grand Bazaar, all within walking distance.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. I really appreciated the modern amenities, such as fast Wi-Fi, a large flat-screen TV, and a well-stocked minibar. The bed was very comfortable, which made a long day of sightseeing that much more relaxing.
The breakfast buffet was a highlight of my stay. It offered a wide variety of both Turkish and international options, and everything was fresh and delicious. The restaurant staff was also very attentive and quick to refill drinks and food.
One of the best parts of the hotel was the spa and wellness center. After a busy day of exploring Istanbul, it was so nice to unwind in the sauna and enjoy a relaxing massage.
Overall, I would highly recommend Wyndham Istanbul Old City for anyone visiting Istanbul. The location, service, and amenities made for an outstanding stay, and I can’t wait to return!
I got the room I booked. The service at the reception was great. I arrived very early and asked if I could check in. The receptionist checked and said that unfortunately my room wasn't ready yet. I should leave my suitcase at the reception and make myself comfortable. I went outside to get something to eat. There were plenty of options nearby. After 45 minutes, I came back and asked if it was ready – tada, my room was ready. I was able to get to my room about an hour earlier.
I didn't use many of the hotel's services, but from what I noticed in the lobby: The staff always made an effort, giving tours for guests, and not intrusively, which I was used to elsewhere.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the location.
