Pera Imperium Taksim Hotel in Istanbul

Plus - The accomodation is in the centre of Istanbul. You are close to Taksim square, the metro and bus station. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Furthermore, it is quiet at the hotel. There is a fridge in the room, which is useful for keeping drinks and food cold. TV and Turkish channels. Staff is friendly. Hotel smells fresh due to fragrance sticks in the lobby and in the room.

Minus · The bed wasn't comfortable at all. At first, the bed sheets are very dusty. They are also very thin, so you don't feel like sleeping in a fresh bed, because the pillows, duvet and matresses are full of stains. Also, they put ''cleaned'' bed sheets when they clean the bed, but even the washed sheets are stained (see photo). Same goes for the towels. We had to ask to change our bed multiple times, but every time we saw that our new sheets were still not so clean and fresh to sleep with. Instead of reusing these sheets, the hotel should replace the stained sheets with new white sheets. Because as a guest you are now sleeping with sheets with stains. For another reason the two-person bed wasn't comfortable as well. They didn't put one whole bed for two persons, but two single matresses, zipped to each other, which causes backpain as you can't sleep properly on it and have to watch out not to sleep on the middle of the bed due to the zipper (see photo).
The led light behind the bed, which is shown on the photos on booking.com, was broken and didn't work.
When it comes to the bathroom, there is a yellow stain in the toilet, which was already there when we arrived. Not possible to clean it with the toiletbrush. The bathroom is a bit small. There is no elevator in the building, however this was not a problem to us. The entrance door of the rooms need renovation. There is no sign at the street to find the hotel easily, but if you look for the address on Maps, you will find the hotel easier, as the front door is immediately next to a barber shop. Room is different than the photos on Booking, not so clean and modern as it looks at first

lot of 5 star reviews from people who has only reviewed this hotel and nothing else...(2020.09.19), the management is likely propping up the numbers...

1. constant cigarette smoke that goes into your room from the corridor, management claims they will solve the issue, but my room is still full of cigarette smoke
2. no proper sound proofing, so you will hear other guests
3. noisy cleaning staff and one of the receptionists are quite rude
4. fridge didn't work at first, staff acted like doing me a favor for replacing it with a working one
5. no proper fridge, just a minbar, good luck for trying to put your stuff in
6. no elevator
7. currently there is a construction close to the hotel and they don't seem to finish it soon, so expect even more noise
