IQ Hotel Galatasaray in Istanbul

The place is nice, the staff not that much. The website is not clear with the treatments, and when you get there they ask you for more money if you want the full package. Once I get to the hamam, what was my surprise when I saw another guest with the cellphone making photos and video. Let's not forget that everyone there is going only with a towel, and I am going there to relax, not to have the clixé of a stupid tourist making photos inside a hamam. My big question, how they allowed her go inside with the phone. And yes, they were people from the staff seeing her, and nobody tell her a thing. Not happy with that, after my tellak introduce himself (a nice and friendly man), they send another one (rude and serious) to ask me for extra money for a massage, which is not included in the 'full package' that I already paid. Of course you can only pay it in cash. Why they send another tellak to tell me this? I will only say that my tellak (the nice one) speaks perfect English. I let you take your own conclusion. I said no to the extra massage, because I didn't had any additional cash after I paid the treatment and counting for the tip for my tellak, and the reaction wasn't nice. In short, not awful, but far from nice. After a couple days I tried again in Kilic Ali Pasa, and it was great. Now that I can compare, I am sure I would not recommend Galatasaray Hamam to anyone...

Probably one of the worst experiences we’ve gone through. Firstly we had an appointment for 12, when we showed up, they cancelled our reservation because of walk ins even though it was booked days in advance- once inside, they put the uncovered women and men in the same sauna room(none of which was mentioned online or on their website) after 15 minutes it was time for the bubble bath, which was just them throwing suds on top of me, not like other hamams where they properly massage and clean you.(there was shampoo left in my hair and I had to go back to my hotel right afterwards to take a shower). After this we sat for 10 minutes drinking tea in the lobby(men and women mixed, while still only having a towel to cover yourself), then we were brought to the massage rooms-(these were separate for men and women), when my sister went, they did the massage with her uncovered, and they left the door open, when she asked if they could close it so she could feel comfortable, they would not. During both massages, the person who was doing them asked for big tips. Also during the massages other workers would freely come into the room and talk to the person while we were still uncovered which made us feel very uncomfortable. The price is also too much for the services they do. I’ve gone to cagalougu Hamam, and the service and massages and overall experience was much better and slightly cheaper than here. Also when it was time to leave- both our “massage therapists” were waiting at the door waiting for us to tip- which was very uncomfortable.

Very rushed experience. I paid 600 for the hamam, soapy wash, and the scrub. They had me in and out in 30 minutes. Too much tipping talk ruined the experience for me. Wow. I told him it is rude to talk about tips before the service. Tip tip tip. know it's historical, but it just felt like a real tourist trap. I wouldn't return. Overrated. Wow. I respect the history of the place though, but these people ruin it.

Wonderful historical location with poor customer service. We took the Premium option. Pasha or something. The scrubbing was good, however not very thorough. foam treatment was ok, but short. The washerwoman has not washed the shampoo out properly. And there was no hair drier in the changing rooms.

However the worst was the masseur who demanded a tip and when we gave 10 euro complained it was not enough.
Perhaps the whole experience wouldn’t have been such a disappointment if not for him. But after his behaviour and bitter comments we left the place with ruined mood.

Would not recommend this bath.
Very old poorly maintained .
Price was 350 lira asked in the beginning but the service is very very average- out of 45 min they make you wait & wait inside the bath at least 25 min . Than only basic scrub for 10 min max . I complained to the manager - Mert , which didn’t seem to care too much . Save your money & try another bath .
