Reviews
Overall, the room was very worn out.
We were checked in late and had to wait a whole hour.
There's no lobby or waiting area – just three chairs under the stairs.
From the very first moment, everything went wrong. The person at the reception could barely speak English, making even the simplest communication frustrating and exhausting. For an international booking platform, this level of communication is completely unacceptable.
We were initially checked into the wrong room — not the one we had booked and paid for. When we politely pointed this out, the owner reacted in an absolutely shocking manner. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, he became aggressive, raised his voice, and practically shouted at us. He openly threatened us by saying that if we did not agree to move into another room immediately, we could leave. This behavior was intimidating, hostile, and totally inappropriate. We felt pressured and unsafe, not like guests.
The alternative room we were forced into was freezing cold. It was impossible to relax or sleep comfortably. Once again, we had to contact the owner to complain, which felt like begging for basic living conditions. Only after this were we moved again — this time to a room meant for three people, despite the fact that there were only two of us. This constant moving showed complete disorganization and a lack of respect for guests.
To make matters worse, the bathroom ventilation was partially broken, which created unpleasant smells and poor air quality. Combined with the cold temperature and constant stress, the room was far from acceptable.
Overall, this place is badly managed, poorly maintained, and run by someone who clearly should not be working in hospitality. Aggressive behavior, wrong rooms, freezing temperatures, broken facilities, and almost nonexistent English skills made this stay a nightmare. We strongly advise avoiding this property unless you enjoy being shouted at and treated with disrespect.

The rooms have molded floors around the bathroom, smell like mold and the view is non existent.
Bathroom ceilings are molded and when you take a shower the whole bathroom area has couple of centimeters of water. The shower was broken as well.
The beds are on the lower side of the comfort as well and the room isolation is like a cardboard.
Absolutely an awful experience and would not recommend despite the good location. I am leaving pictures so anyone can be a judge (can’t leave the scent unfortunately). It’s a 3 star hotel at the absolute most and don’t know how they got 4… maybe few years ago, but now everything is run down.
The manager Georges repeats 10 times how everything can be arranged and have a nice experience, but actually takes no action at all.
The staff tries to be nice and helpful but does nothing as well, probably because of management.
Note:
As a reply to the comment below, since its not possible to respond. We are free to do what we like stay or not, comment or not. Despite the wrong reservation, i left photos which has nothing to do with the reservation but just showing the real image of the hotel. So everyone can be a judge.
I stayed at Georges Hotel Galata for five nights and had a great experience. The location is perfect: steps from Galata Tower and all the energy of Beyoğlu, with Karaköy's waterfront just down the hill.
The rooms have beautiful high ceilings that make the space feel elegant and airy. The showers are wonderful, and I loved the thick towels and sheets (plus there's a heated towel warmer, which is a nice touch). PRO TIP: ask for a room on the garden side if you can. The neighbourhood is lively and bustling, but the garden-facing rooms are surprisingly quiet.
What really stood out was the service. The concierge staff are genuinely kind and helpful, not just going through the motions. They made reservations at local restaurants for us and gave great recommendations. When I had a plumbing issue in my room, the manager Mr. Serkan personally checked on it multiple times and made sure everything was handled professionally. That level of attention makes a real difference.
Oh, and there's a charming resident cat named Lollipop who adds personality to the place
The rooftop bar has spectacular views and excellent cocktails. If you're looking for boutique luxury with personal service in the Galata area, I'd definitely recommend Georges Hotel.
It is down a steep and narrow road so my taxi from the airport had to stop about 100m away.
The front desk staff during the day and night are both very friendly and speak good English. Any requests we had were sorted quickly. They were very pleasant.
We did have some issues in the first day with the sheets and towels not being super clean. They still had some stains on them and the replacements were not much better.
The room is a bit dark, not all the lights work. But otherwise it is fairly spacious and nicely decorated. It needs new brighter light bulbs and the non working fixtures to be replaced.
Room cleaning was a mixed bag. The lady was friendly but didn't do a thorough job. E.g. we stayed for 9 days and had to manually ask for refills to toiletries or toilet paper. I had a cup of tea on the first day and it was never cleaned the entire stay. There was still lots of toothpaste stain by the bathroom sink wall.
Good AC, water pressure and WiFi.
Soundproofing needs improvement though as the walls are super thin and noise travels through the vents easily. Could quite clearly hear everything as the girl next door had a train run on her one night.
Nariman at the front desk was a particularly gracious host
(After my second stay, I just want to reiterate how gracious and helpful the staff are. The location is great and the furnishings very luxe and comfortable, but as we all know it is the attitude of the staff that makes all the difference. It’s what will keep me coming back to this hotel whenever I am in Istanbul).
