As for the cons, there aren't really any real cons, as we were traveling with children. The location can be a bit too noisy. Downstairs are a multitude of restaurants and bars, with blaring DJs. Last night, one bar was still partying until 3:00 AM. If you don't like a bustling atmosphere, be wary.
The hotel is small, with no public areas or facilities. It's about five kilometers from the main tourist attraction, including Hagia Sophia. You can take a ferry, which is more convenient than ground transportation.
Istanbul traffic is incredibly chaotic. Traffic jams start at 4:00 PM, and the drivers are downright ruthless.
Check the meter and buy a bus pass. If you get a price quote, just get off the bus and refuse to ride.
I made a reservation through Agoda and paid for a suite with a balcony view. But when I arrived, the receptionist told me there was no such booking number. I tried to explain to him for nearly an hour, but he kept refusing to help and told me to book directly with them instead, claiming that I’d been scammed! How could I be scammed when I booked through Agoda? In the end, I called Agoda myself and after a long wait, the Agoda representative spoke to them directly and confirmed that my booking was valid and paid for, and that they’d sent them the confirmation email and payment details. This receptionist was clearly trying to scam me.
