Laleli Blue Marmaray Hotel in Istanbul

We stayed at Laleli Blue Marmaray Hotel with our young children. The rooms were cute and nicely decorated, but overall the hotel feels quite old.

The shower especially looked very old and really needs renovation. Unfortunately, the biggest issue for us was that we saw cockroaches in the room in the morning. Since we were traveling with small kids, we decided to move out immediately.

It’s a pity because the decoration had potential, but cleanliness and maintenance are very important, especially for families.

The single room was extremly small and attached to the elevator which makes it noisy and it was impossible to sleep and rest. And a card opens multiply rooms and happened the guy entered my room while i was sleeping.

This was unfortunately the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I stayed here as part of an organized trip to Istanbul, and since the other partner hotels were fully booked, this was where our group of 20 people ended up.

Do not be misled by the photos online or the mention of “baroque style.” The reality was completely different. Our room was extremely dark, with only one lamp on the farthest wall, so we often had to use our phone flashlights. The “double room” had two single beds placed in opposite corners. The sheets were not clean, we found hairs on the bed, and the bathroom was in very poor condition. The sanitary ware looked neglected, and the bathmat was so dirty that we couldn’t use it. The shower design made it impossible to wash without soaking your hair, and the small window opened only to a rusted fire escape. The air conditioning did not function properly—either it was unbearably hot or freezing. At times, the room was filled with an unpleasant smell coming from outside.

Breakfast was included but very disappointing. The food selection was limited, repetitive, and often inedible—fried potatoes with mayonnaise, hot dogs in sauce, and cold scrambled eggs. Even the coffee was of extremely poor quality.

Communication with the staff was difficult, as English was barely spoken. On several occasions, I had to write my room number on a calculator at reception because the staff could not understand me. Additionally, the reception area was often crowded with people socializing, which made the atmosphere unprofessional.

Istanbul itself is a wonderful city, but unfortunately, this hotel had a very negative impact on our trip. I cannot recommend staying here.

The most disgusting hotel! We travelled by agency so we don’t know how much it costs, but the conditions there are awful. We arrived early in the morning and started to check in. First we were given a room withOUT windows that smells a lot as cigarettes. We asked for another room with window and had to wait 5 hours at the cold reception for available room. At noon we asked if some room has been cleaned and finally checked in. The room smelled awful, the sheets and towels were disgusting, the bathroom and the water smelled awful too. The staff is rude and unwelcoming. After seeing the room we didn’t even think about having a breakfast there we just looked at it and it was disappointing. The bathroom was leaking to the room, because it wasn’t actually separate room, but just two glass pieces in the bedroom making some kind of bathroom. It is also very noisy like the window was opened but it wasn’t. The worst experience ever! Unfortunately hated Istanbul because of this hotel!
