Cihangir Hotel Bosphorus in Istanbul

I stayed at this hotel for a week. Due to extensive renovations, the hotel was in a transitional state. However, the new owners were very kind and helpful, always responding quickly to any requests. The location was a bit inconvenient as it was downhill from Taksim Square, which was tiring. The hotel needs some improvements. For example, the breakfast could offer more variety and include more fruits. Additionally, the terrace and some areas of the hotel seemed a bit neglected. The rooftop could be a great space to enjoy if it were cleaned and furnished better, the bathroom had issues like leaks and unpleasant odours. I hope the new owners can address these issues soon. Overall, I appreciated the hospitality of the owners and their prompt service. I also can add that the view was amazing.

Too good only in the photos. Old rooms, poorly maintained and neither clean enough. They gave us a first floor room that was pretty noisy for 60€ per night. Worst breakfast I have ever tasted. The only good thing was the location of the hotel, as it is near to Taksim square and tram station.

DO NOT GO HERE. We arrived in Istanbul on the 30th September - as soon as we arrived at this hotel things were terrible. We had booked two rooms, one room was for £2.50 for three nights on booking.com - we had paid £135 for three nights for the other room, so we knew this was a mistake and we had agreed to rectify this on arrival. We were then told that both rooms were priced wrong and should be £145 a night each, with the guy behind the desk saying on several occasions 'check booking.com now! The price is on there' then tried to charge us £800 for the three days we were due to stay - or 'special price £300', we obviously said no and found another hotel. We stayed one night in one room (which we certainly wouldn't have paid £145 for!) came down in the morning and they genuinely seemed shocked we weren't staying. One of the travellers is very hard of sight and uses a white cane to get around, I genuinely am so disappointed that this was our first experience of Istanbul.
Booking.com fortunately for us gave us a full refund for the one night we stayed. Honestly not sure how there are so many 5 stars on here!
