Pros:
Very good location. Dubai Mall is about a 15-minute walk at a relaxed pace.
Cons:
You have to request almost everything separately (toothpaste, toothbrushes, even a hair dryer). The room has a kitchen, but there is no kitchenware at all.
At breakfast, there is only one napkin on the table for everything.
The most unpleasant situation happened after breakfast. My mother made herself a sandwich but realized she would not be able to finish it. Since food is thrown away anyway, we decided to take our own sandwich with us (which, by the way, was paid for as part of the room rate with breakfast). We could have stayed in the restaurant for another 30 minutes and finished it there, but since breakfast is time-limited, we decided to leave earlier so that guests with breakfast from 10:00 to 11:00 could take our table.
When we were taking the sandwich with us, a staff member simply took it out of my mother’s hands. There was no explanation and no apology. The sandwich was taken away in front of everyone. From the outside, it looked as if we were trying to take a kilogram of food to resell it and were publicly stopped like offenders.

The staff at the reception too are very helpful and friendly and Abdul at the concierge was very helpful giving us directions to nearby photo studio n some more places.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Carlton Downtown Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and genuine. The staff consistently went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and cared for.
A special mention goes to the cleaning team, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was spotless. Ali and Amin (night staff) at reception deserves big credit as well—he was incredibly kind-hearted, always ready to help, and even helped us find a more affordable taxi option. Riphile in the breakfast area was equally fantastic, offering coffee at the table with a big smile and making mornings feel extra special.
The hotel itself is lovely, with fantastic facilities, a family-friendly atmosphere, and staff who genuinely make an effort to provide a memorable experience. We truly enjoyed our time here and would be more than happy to return. ❤️
