We stayed at the Holiday Inn London Camden Lock for a weekend while the hotel is undergoing renovations and transitioning into a Voco hotel, and we honestly had a wonderful experience. The renovation work didn’t disturb us at all, everything felt well organised and our stay was comfortable from start to finish. From check-in to check-out we felt genuinely welcome and well looked after.
A huge highlight was the staff, incredibly friendly and professional at reception, in the bar, during breakfast, and by housekeeping. Everyone was warm, helpful, and made us feel at home ☺️
Our room was spotless, very clean and spacious, and the hotel’s location is fantastic, perfect for a weekend in London, especially with Camden right on your doorstep.
What really impressed us were the thoughtful personal touches, like messages on the mirror and little notes at breakfast wishing us a beautiful day. Small gestures, but they made a big difference and created such a positive atmosphere.
Truly outstanding service, many hotels could learn from this team. This hotel made a great impression on us and we will definitely be back.

The room was very spacious and it has everything you would possibly need. It is right across Camden market which makes it easy to go and stroll around. It’s relatively close to the train station as well so it’s a plus! 🫶🏻

We had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Camden. The location is fantastic, perfect for exploring Camden and getting around London easily. The room was large, comfortable and very clean.
But what really made the difference was the outstanding customer service. From the very first minute at reception, to drinks at the bar and breakfast in the morning, everyone was genuinely polite, professional and welcoming.
It honestly reminded us of the good old days, when hospitality felt effortless and truly caring. A big thank you to the whole Team, you made our stay special.

Great location in Camden, however currently location is under remodeling on two floors. Which does make it hard for those who may need to rest. Breakfast and service was definitely the highlight of the location. Sadaqat and Mukta supplied outstanding customer service to help with our stay. Would love to come back when the remodeling is done! Most of the representatives provided outstanding customer service and we find the location ideal and centrally located to great around the greater London area.

Thoroughly wonderful 2 night stay.

Arrived 4 hours before check-in to drop off the bags to find the room was ready. Great view overlooking Camden Lock. Perfect location for Camden and close to the underground to explore further afield.

Speedy check-in service, and as an IHG member have free late checkout (2pm).

Couldn't fault the room. Fantastically comfortable bed with amazing duvet and pillows.

Shower to die for and controls away from the showerhead so no getting wet when turning on the water.

All the services you could want in the room, tea/coffee, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and safe. Plenty of space for clothes.

Add in the sofa and coffee table and a little home away from home.

Well done Holiday Inn

Kudos to the staff at the reception and specially at the restaurant.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Camden lock over 12 days during a business trip. The hotel is currently under renovation so there were some issues with the room however the staff were proactive and provided immediate solutions.

I have to mention the restaurant staff in particular who are very polite and welcoming. Absolutely love the lil notes they put up on tables every morning, shout out to Asha, Vrushali and the rest of the team for all the attention to detail.

The housekeeping staff is friendly and prompt.

The location is buzzing and accessible which makes it a good option to stay.

The best thing here is the interior design! :) They have invested a fortune. Service is so far the worst I have experienced in London. And I have been there over 10 times now. Food is OK, though nothing special or really South African. I will go again, just because the unique ambient. Usually taking friends there, for a welcome-to-London drinks.

Service was very poor, we booked about a month in advance so group size was known, yet we ended up on 2 separate tables. Drinks order was very slow to be taken, then even slower to arrive, and was missing bottles of wine. Food order was even slower, considering it was a set menu so the starter was a platter, I'd expect it to be a reasonable time, but took forever to come, same with the mains but more understandable due to those being chosen on the night. By the time the desserts turned up half of the group had given up waiting. The food was nice, but you'd expect it to be considering the cost. Drinks very expensive. Also had the cheek to add a 12.5% service charge onto our already very large bill and claim it couldn't be taken off because the bill had already been printed, very unfair (and potentially illegal?) given we had no idea this was going to be added until the bill turned up.
Would not go back.

Well where do I start we was told that we'd have a set menu for £40 once you get there and see the set menu find that some of the items on the set menu you actually have to pay more for. plus your main does not come with a side you have to pay more for a side. your starter is shared among the whole table as well as the desert it took an hour and a half to get mains out and half an hour to bring the drinks to the table.
The food was nothing special whatsoever.
As it is night club as well you'll find that some people who have not come for a meal are all standing around your table as there is nowhere else to sit or stand. would not go back there again.

Let’s start this review with the positives. The steak I had today was cooked very well and the chicken my partner had was lovely. The decor in Shaka Zulu is amazing and definitely gets 5 stars. The seats are large booths which are super comfy. Although we went for lunch it sounds like evening meals are more interesting on the weekends as they seem to have a DJ on to entertain.

The negatives are with the main menu you’re paying £30 for a steak you’re still inclined to buy a £5 side order to complete your meal which can make everything a bit too expensive. I mean if you’re fine to spend £100 pounds on a meal for you and one other person then go for it. For those looking for something just as nice that’ll make your money go a little further I’d suggest looking at a flat iron restaurant.

Overall I’d say it’s worth a visit and with the virgin experience voucher you can definitely make a trip there for £50 for two people and leave quite happy.

The decor, atmosphere and vibe outstanding! The food was pretty good, portions on the small side but Cocktails were great, especially the 'red tower'. Our waitress 'Monica' was excellent 10 out of 10!!! friendly and helpful! She made sure our large party of 15 were looked after. We stayed for the club after our meal but unfortunately the DJ was awful, left after a couple of hours as the music just was not up to scratch, shame really as would have loved to have given Shaka Zulu 5*

We went for afternoon tea. It was very poor. Food just plonked on 3 plates. No cake
stands. The sliders had nearly no meat in them. Just a dry Brioche bun. I dipped it in the springroll sauce for some flavour. Stale scones with a tiny pot of jam and clotted cream. Had to ask for more. Very chewy salmon bites. It was all a bit slap dash and jist no real effort. It was such a shame we travelled so far and made such an effort but the food was just shocking. Amazing service and beautiful setting.

We went for the afternoon tea. It was disappointing at half the price and at full price would have been absolute rip off. We waited half an hour to be served two tiny pieces of cucumber roll as a single salmon canape. After another twenty minutes all food was served: one gyoza dumpling, one crispy roll, one dry mini burger with chicken and one with duck. Party snacks served like they were gourmet dishes. Few small set pastries. Scones were served with not enough cream, we asked for more but we never got it. We weren't offered tea either.
Stay away

Fun place in some ways. Very noisy. Afternoon tea claims ‘unlimited fizz’ - but you struggle hugely to beg for Service! The menu sounds like you shouldn’t eat for a week in advance but in reality it is quite constrained- although what you do get is tasty. Annoying details - when they use the plural ‘scones’ you do not anticipate a single item. Also at 5.45 they held a staff meeting which included lots of clapping - however during this period the already erratic mismanaged Service standards slipped to zero!! In summary - some very good and some very bad!!

A beautifully decorated venue with attention to detail. Unfortunately the food especially the desert did not live up to the standards of the decor. It was a real disappointment. I was with of a group of friends so they bought a variety of staters to choose from. However only the spring rolls were worth eating.
The main was a vegetable yellow curry which may as well been a bowl of soup as everything was swimming in sauce.
Served along side a small bowl of rice.
After a disappointing meal l looked forward to the desert which was supposed to be mango cheesecake. This was a bigger disappointment and frankly an insult to be called cheesecake . It was more like mousse with a slab of orange gelatin on top. A very cheap nasty cake that you may get in a buffet restaurant. For a restaurant that has spent so much time paying attention to its decor it's a shame they don't do the same for it's food.

Me and my girlfriend had dinner on a Wednesday evening. The food was okay, chicken was slightly dry and rubbery, the rice was good. The place looks beautiful and spacious. Decor looks North African. The staff were polite and helpful.

Decor: 4/5 (very good)
Atmosphere: 3/5 (good)
Service: 4/5 (very good)
Food: 2/5 (satisfactory)
Price: 2/5 (you pay more for the place than the dishes)

The dress code says shirt and shoes however I saw customers with baseball hats and trainers. Might be worth updating their website!!
