The Clarendon Hotel - Blackheath in London

Very rude manageress. Apparently over cooked cold steak was fine. Going to Cotes. Shame as waiting staff lovely.

Awful experience. Would never go again even if they paid me. I was there with my wife and 2 kids. Upon entering the restaurant there wasn't anyone to greet us so we had to find someone to sit us down. No menu was given to us, so after waiting for 10 minutes got up and taken the menu myself from a greeting guests table. We waited for over 20 minutes for someone to come and ask us if we are ready to order and that was after they seated other guests down right next to us and taken their order. Finally when one of the waitresses turned up we ordered drinks and some food for the kids. We had 2 vouchers for a free burger and chips dish, but were told that they have run out of burgers. 5 minutes later the guests that came in after us but were served first are given 2 burgers. I've called another waiter over who was passing by to ask how can someone gets served a burger when we were told that they have run out. He replied that they are out of the buns but we can get a burger without the bun. We laughingly said yes and waited another 15 minutes to be given a burger that was broken in half. Fortunately second burger was fine. When waiter saw our reaction he replied with "it would have looked nicer with the bun". The burger itself was burnt and disgusting. Took us another 15 minutes to finally get a bill that was wrong. After mentioning the mistake to the waitress who didn't care, the bill was adjusted and only one quick sorry was said for the long wait. The place wasn't even busy. Staff are slow and rude. Appalling. Would NOT recommend to anyone!

Genuinely was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, the staff were atrociously rude and treated me and my friend as though we were dirt. The manager was curt and didn't take any of our feelings into consideration. I, who have been a vegetarian my whole life was brought a meat pizza and when I told them I didn't order this, I was psychologically attacked and told that o did order the pizza. After this shambolic incident, me and my friend left in a hurry. The only notable thing to say about this awful restaurant is the waiter, who sounded as though he were from Birmingham, I am never going here again, or if he is there, it's a maybe.

We've been coming to this Pizza Express location for a good 15+ years. We love Pizza Express as a whole but the service at this location has become unforgivable. At least 4 or 5 times in the last year we've had completely unacceptable service where it it takes ages before anyone comes to take our order, the food for other tables who arrived and ordered after us is delivered before ours, no one checks on us to see if everything is ok, and the bill takes ages to arrive. We kept chalking it up to isolated incidents, but these simple baseline hallmarks of decent table service are simply absent here. The previous manager of this location who did a spectacular job and had an amazing staff is now at Canary Wharf. If you want good service give Blackheath a miss and go there instead. Sad to say we will now be going to Zero Degrees in the village for our local pizza going forward.
