Not bad, but disappointing. Rooms feel empty and dull, no desk, small windows with very little natural light. Water pressure is as bad as you'll find. Pretty hotel, but not impressive. Much better in pictures than in person.

This place is top notch in every way! The Downtown LA Proper is simply beautiful! Even the elevator has a unique design that flows from the lobby. The service industry has taken a huge hit in the last 18 months, but you won’t notice when you’re in this place! The customer service was beyond my expectations. My suite was beautiful and spacious! Not to mention, you have everything you could possibly need or want. The room was so cozy and quiet, like a graveyard. The bath was fresh, clean, had organic high-quality toiletries, and even self-testing for Covid 19. The restaurants are the icing on the cake! CHEF CHANG SIVILAY is a master of his craft. The Spanish menu has something for everyone. But being a foodie, I felt like I was in heaven after the great service and exceptional food. There’s no comparison to the Caldo Verde experience at Proper. I was there on a Tuesday night and you would have thought it was a weekend night. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed. A truly wonderful experience. Kudos to the staff and management of Downtown LA Proper!

We stayed at both places this week and absolutely loved our stay. The rooms were very spacious, I loved the Aesop products and decor. What really sets this hotel apart from other hotels in LA is the exceptional service, especially the front desk staff!

My first visit to the Proper in Downtown LA was a very memorable one! We stayed on a business trip and my expectations were exceeded. The staff was very friendly from the valet to the front desk. The decor is beautiful and the rooms are in very good condition. The beds were very comfortable and the Aesop products added a touch of sophistication. DO NOT TAKE THEM HOME or you will be charged! Gary the night manager happened to see me taking pictures of the lobby and told me a little about the history of the hotel. I loved the hospitality of Gary and the rest of the staff. They made the hotel feel like it was family owned. The view of Cara Cara was beautiful and having a restaurant, not to mention two, makes it easy when you can’t go too far for food due to work. I highly recommend getting a drink at Cara Cara in the penthouse. They are pet friendly but there is a pet fee. Beautiful hotel and looking forward to staying soon! Thank you Gary for everything. Also thank you John for asking us in the elevator how we enjoyed our stay. Great staff!

It feels like an American city hotel, but in this small building there was a nice restaurant, rooftop bar, tea room, and plenty of rooms to enjoy. The interior of every room was stylish, and it looked great no matter where you took a photo. The staff were very friendly, and dinner at the restaurant was also very good. The rooftop bar is small, but relaxing, so it might be good for couples. I'm glad I chose this hotel. I'd like to use it again if I have the chance to stay in LA next time.

The room was small, but the overall service was OK. The room was facing the night market and was a bit noisy on the first night, so we moved to another corner with a view on the second night. The hotel is full of design details, but most of them are public spaces. The design of the hotel rooms is average, unless you spend a lot of money to stay in a suite

Just wish they stayed open later. However, the staff is pleasant to talk with and they do make good drinks like the strawberry smoothie. also on cold days they make a great hot chocolate. One of the best Starbucks I been to. Conveniently located.
