The hotel is gorgeous and well-kept. It's a historic location, so it's really nice they take that part seriously and show respect for the asset.

The rooms are equally nice. Everything seemed clean and well-maintained. Several wall outlets in my suite didn't work. This was very frustrating, since I couldn't charge my phone on the nightstand.

The service was a bit disappointing. The staff were fine but didn't provide any particularly notable positive experience. It was average for the average hotel, but below average for a hotel like the Biltmore. No room service was provided, so this was extremely disappointing. The front desk wouldn't let anyone up to my room for deliveries, so I had to come down in my pajamas after a few glasses of wine. That was a disappointment.

The location is quite bad. I used to work in the area. It's a few blocks away from Skid Row and right next to Pershing Square. There are bus and subway stops in the area, so there are a lot of homeless in the area. I've been attacked before, and having worked there, I know people who've been attacked and hospitalized. It's a dangerous area, so take precautions, including not walking the streets alone. The police aren't particularly responsive. I didn't see a single police officer in the area when I walked to a restaurant down the street.

This hotel feels very old-school, with a lot of history and stories behind it. The room facilities were neat and clean, and the air conditioning's heating worked great, keeping the room at a comfortable temperature. In contrast, the bathroom facilities were a bit older, and the sink was rather small, but there were no cleanliness issues whatsoever. The water pressure from both the shower and the sink faucet was perfectly fine.

The hotel breakfast was typically American – not extensive, but it had all the basics. One thing to note: you have to ask the staff for fried eggs. The service staff were excellent, from the usher who seated us to the dining room attendants, so we left a customary tip on the table.

Within a block or two of the hotel, there's a Starbucks, Subway, and other fast-food options, as well as a few more formal restaurants. The area's safety seems pretty standard; we didn't feel unsafe walking around at night.

On the night we checked in, we happened to catch the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the lobby, which was a very special and fun event.

The only discomfort during this stay came from the service fee, less than $20, charged at checkout. The front desk staff told us it was a breakfast service charge. I have two points here: first, when I booked, I specifically checked, and this particular booking didn't mention any hotel service fees (other bookings at the time specified a daily service fee of around $10, but this one truly didn't); second, why didn't anyone tell us this service fee was for breakfast? If a service fee is charged, you shouldn't need to leave an additional tip (it's not about the small amount of money, but the principle). If the front desk had informed us about this service fee when we checked in (a male staff member at checkout said the hotel had asked the agent to inform us, which is somewhat reasonable), or if Ctrip's agent had stated this charge and clarified it was a restaurant service fee, we wouldn't have felt so annoyed.

I hope Ctrip can improve in the future to ensure we have a clear understanding of all charges.

No heating and no portable heater, it was super cold. It took three or four calls to finally get through to room service, and they grudgingly gave us one blanket. Even with two blankets, it was still freezing, so I ended up sleeping in my own clothes. For such an expensive hotel, the facilities and service are just ridiculous.

Choosing this place was absolutely the right decision! The lobby is opulent and grand. I'll definitely be back next time.

Stayed in Room 319 Dec 19-22 with my daughter. As a lover of architecture and LA and movie history, to be able to spend three nights here was an unforgettable privilege. Sitting in the bar and common areas was magical, especially with the beautiful holiday decor. Everyone on staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and no outside noise. We walked around the area for hours each night and were never once approached by anyone and never felt a bit threatened, there were always other people around on even the side streets. My apologies to the head bellman Dec 22/4 pm who very kindly saved me money on airport transport, but I had just given my last cash to the luggage handler. Thank you all for a time I will always cherish!

I really like this hotel; the lobby is absolutely beautiful. The overall environment is also great, and it's super convenient for getting around. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Los Angeles!

We live 20 minutes away but decided to stay the night after a candlelight concert and always wanted to stay there after working in DTLA for years. It's beautiful, has a storied/glamorous past and built when craftsmen were proud and money was flowing. Unfortunately, the downturn in tourism, post-covid living and maintenance is catching up to this proud, elder beauty. Some of the things they've paused to save money yet stated nowhere on their website or when you make a reservation; they've paused Valet parking so you only can self-park, the club on the 10th floor is closed so don't plan on using it and the Rendezvous cafe is closed. The only food available is through the Bar which was decent with the only other food/drink option being the Brazilian restaurant which is limited in its own way. It'd odd to see such a huge hotel only have one place to relax and eat (being the bar). Our room was pretty, the interior was nice and the bed was great. Unfortunately, the shower water never got hot, and chunks from the 102-year-old wooden window frames were literally breaking off as I opened/closed the windows. The window frames haven't been painted in years and crumbling to the point that the glass panes are loose. (That's not a big deal except for the sidewalk below.) If you look around the lobby, you'll see light bulbs not working and need to be replaced, but that's only a detail a hotel with a budget would care about. I suspect its hanging on by a thread so you might consider visiting while its still available.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel before Covid, and the staff and management were absolutely wonderful. They made us feel like celebrities throughout our visit. Even though our stay was only for one night, it was a very special and memorable time for my husband and me.

Thank you so much for your generosity and excellent service. We will never forget our experience at the Millennium Hotel. Thank you!

You would enjoy the beautiful building architecture, great access to public transport. rooms could have been more cleaner.

The environment is very nice, but the buffet breakfast doesn't live up to the price; it's worse than many hotels that offer free breakfast.
